This is the first book that I have read by Kiersten Modglin, but it definitely will not be my last read by her! In high school Cait's life was completely different. She was unpopular and bullied by the mean girls. Her best friend, Jaime, betrayed her. Now her life is picture-perfect. She is married to the handsome Grant Du Bois and has become a famous author. She is ready to go to her high school reunion and show those bullies how successful she has become! However, she gets back to her hometown and strange things begin happening that are very frightening. This audiobook is well narrated and held my attention through the story. The ending has a surprising twist! I highly recommend grabbing this book as soon as it is published! A big thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for allowing me to listen to the advance copy audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Kiersten Modglin is the Queen of twisty, complex thrillers and The Reunion didn't disappoint! All the eerie, peculiar vibes and I'm all here for it. I absolutely couldn't put this book down (I feel so redundant since I say that about every single one of her books but it's true!) and I was just dying to find out what happened. Of course, BOOM comes the big devious, twisty reveal that I've been living for! Highly recommend as always!

Bonus points for an EXCELLENT narration by Meg Price. Completely entrancing performance and made for an amazing listening experience!

True to her form, Kiersten Modglin delivers another fast-paced tantalizing thriller in The Reunion.

Going back to a small town to your 10th high school reunion is always a bit nerve racking. However, when you were an outsider and taunted by “the populars” it becomes terrifying.

Why does Kate even want to go back and relive those memories? She is now a well known author, however, something tragic happened ten years ago. Is Kate to blame for what happened or is Kate now in danger and from whom?

Ten years has passed since Cait Du Bois was in high school with “the populars.” When one of those “populars,” Grant, realizes he has feelings for her, the friendship she has with her real friends falls apart. On prom night her senior year, her best friend disappears and is later found dead. Now, ten years down the road, Cait is married to Grant with children whom she absolutely adores and has become a very successful writer. But the time comes for her high school reunion, and Cait decides that she must go and face her fears and her past. Her time back at Hotel Lilith, where prom was held so many years ago, seemed to be going just fine. Until she started receiving strange calls and texts from a woman she met at the hotel. She continues to be harassed by this woman, whom Cait now fears. The ending comes with a twist that you won’t see coming!

I listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by Meg Price, and wow! The book kept my attention, keeping me guessing through it all. I did not see twist coming at the end! It was well written, and the ending left me feeling happy and satisfied. The narrator’s voice was mesmerizing, which made me look forward to listening to the book every day.

A big thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Kiersten Modglin for allowing me to read and review this advanced reading copy! This ARC was provided for my honest opinion.

A Thrilling Read!
Cait, Jamie, and Sam are best friends in high school. They form a strong bond as they face constant bullying and belittling from a group of students they call “the populars”. Jamie badly longs to be accepted by this group as she cultivates a relationship with Grant and suddenly becomes his girlfriend. Jamie then turns her back on Cait and Sam.

Deeply hurt by their friend, Cait and Sam become boyfriend and girlfriend. But Jamie is never truly accepted by “the populars”, especially Vanessa, Grant’s ex-girlfriend. After awhile, Jamie is devastated when Grant breaks up with her and shows an interest in Kate. Things soon escalate between Grant, Jamie, Cait, and Sam and events turn tragic on the night of their senior prom.

Ten years later, now determined to show she has made something of herself, Cait returns to her hometown for a high school reunion. But the cattiness and hatred is still there. Soon Cait finds herself facing threatening phone calls, text messages, and a mysterious box from an unknown person who wants revenge.

Told from Cait’s perspective, the story alternates from past to present, giving the reader the opportunity to fully understand the drama.

My thoughts: This may be my favorite #KMod book yet! I was totally drawn in to the high school drama mixed in with the resentments that still lingered 10 years later! At some point in the story I suspected each character of an ulterior motive! I thought the characters and the drama were well-developed as they led to a conclusion that I did not see coming! I listened to part of this book on audio. The narrator does an excellent job telling the story and changing her voice to match the characters.’ voices. Read (or listen to) this if you love a well-written story with a surprising conclusion!

My sincere thanks to @Kierstenmodglin for my advanced copy of this eBook! My thoughts are my own

I want to thank NetGalley for sending me an audio version of The Reunion by Kiersten Modglin.
To start, this audio book was fantastic, the narration was pleasant to listen too,
Now onto the actual plot and characters in the book. This is a book about friends who are meeting up in their small hometown for a highschool reunion. We know that something horrible happened on prom night that changed the course of their lives. I don’t want to give anymore of the plot away.
The characters were well developed, easy to visualize and relate too.
The alternating timelines from the past to present were done extremely well
I would definitely recommend this book.

After reading widow falls I wanted to read more by this author thinking I’d found my new favorite mystery /thriller author and I was right. This wasn’t my super favorite because it wasn’t super mysterious but I still really enjoyed it ! I can’t wait to read more from this author

This book is another masterpiece from Modglin. The audio narration was again flawless - emotions were conveyed without spoiling the ending. All characters had a unique voice that allowed me to always tell who was speaking at any given time.

The story itself was just the right amount of twisty and turny. The format - with flashbacks mixed in with current day - was an excellent way to convey the story.

I always find Kiersten Modglin to be quite the dependable author when it comes to thrilling and twisty reads, and The Reunion is no different. Although I did find it a bit slow to get going, once it did it was one wild and crazy ride and I loved it.

A huge thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this audiobook narrated by Meg Price.

Good, solidly engaging mystery from the queen of twists.

I discovered Kiersten Modglin's books this past year and have enjoyed many of them, some of them not as much. The one thing I can say about all of them though, is that they are very inventive, twisty thrillers.

This book features Cait a bestselling author married to Grant. They both attended high school together, but due to sitter issues, Grant agrees to stay home with their twins while Cait attends their ten year high school reunion. Unfortunately, the reunion is being held at Hotel Lilith, the scene of their senior prom and the worst night of Cait's life. She runs into Sam, her high school best friend (and former boyfriend) and the two pick up their friendship where they left off. When a fan seems to be stalking Cait she starts to become afraid, and she and Sam are both worried that what happened in high school is coming back to haunt them again.

This book is told from two timelines--when the group was in high school and the present day. This is a straightforward mystery with some great twists that I didn't see coming, yet also they are pretty believable in a very wild way. You know that people are hiding things, but you don't know who exactly and even if you get an idea, you certainly won't guess what they are hiding.

There are some very astute observations about bullying and some uncomfortable content in that regard. It's very realistic and goes on to show that "mean girls" can manifest in many different ways, depending on who is interpreting the behavior.

Overall this is one of my favorite offerings by Modglin. I listened to it as an audiobook narrated by Meg Price. Although she gets a bit whispery at times, the narration is good and kept me invested in the story. I couldn't stop listening and devoured this book in less than a day. I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next.

Holy wow! My new favorite KMod book! She can do no wrong. Addictive, absorbing, and oh so delicious! I loved the love triangle and the eerie feel. The ghost story elements while still having a realistic twists and bread crumbs that totally lined up were perfection. Absolutely amazing. 5 we’ll earned stars.

The Reunion was SO good!! This one is up there as one of my favorites of KMods. Love the premise! I love books that have something to do with books or authors and our protagonist here is a best-selling author. Once vowing never to go back to Hotel Lilith after a horror of a night there, she ends up back there anyway for ... my other favorite trope ... a high-school reunion and you don't know who you can trust.

This one was a wild and crazy ride and I'm here for it! Once she arrives at the hotel things go awry and the truth of what happened that terrible night long ago will come to light.

Definitely recommend this one!

Kiersten Modglin is quickly becoming my favorite author, and this book has pretty much sealed the deal. I could not read this fast enough and wished for more when it ended. Not once did I get bored with it and when I did have to put it down I found myself thinking about what was going to happen next and constantly guessing who the villain was. I do not want to give a full review because the book speaks for itself. Make sure to clear your calendar before starting this, once you start you will not be able to stop until the end.

Almost 40% in and nothing has actually happened.... I mean things have happened it’s told from a dual timeline of high school and the present but the mystery or thriller that’s promised? I can’t find it basically this is just a drama about an insecure woman who has a nice life now and wants to throw it in the faces of her high school bullies at their 10 year reunion but because she’s still insecure things don’t really go the way she planned.

There’s a whole build up about something that clearly happened to someone back in high school that occurred in the same hotel the reunion is occurring in.

Nothing even remotely weird even happens until like Chapter 19

Thriller mystery this is not... fast paced or a quick listen/read it is not... it’s 10 hours of Cait’s own personal drama as a teenager and as an adult both of whom could have benefited from therapy . Honestly reading the other reviews for this makes me feel like I’m crazy because I feel like Im not listening to the same book. I prefer audiobooks when I have the actual book too so I can skim ahead of things get boring or tedious. Unfortunately I’m listening to this audiobook arc a week before the ebook comes out so I’m suffering through it. The story isn’t bad it’s not even boring it’s just unnecessarily long at least half of this could have been cut out. Cait is kind of annoying. And really did she not know you can just make friends with other people in high school there’s no reason you have to stay chained to a specific friend group forever. Another thing that bothered me about her is that um you so kinda need to figure out your plans I don’t know before you graduate from high school not wait till like the last few weeks to decide.

77% in is when things finally decide to actually get mildly interesting in the past and in the present.

I feel like Cait wants to die or something because why if somebody is engaging in threatening behavior towards you would you stay in this place? What’s the point? You don’t care about this town or these people and it’s not actually protecting your family.

And the twist? Couldn’t roll my eyes hard enough after suffering through all of this only to end up here. Um high school does end you do become an adult you don’t have to act this way forever. Cait is very annoying and the worse judge of character and clearly everyone she went to high school with was insane. In fact sadly I didn’t like her and she clearly had issues but she was one of the saner ones.

All in all Cait is painfully stupid (especially at the end) this book is painfully tediously long and this is the last book I’ll be reading/listening to from this author. But the narration was perfect.

So like woah! I stayed up wayyyyyy to late two nights in a row to finish this book. I didn't wanna stop reading it. The whole story sucked me in and made me feel like I was back in high school. The creepiness of Cait's stalker around the hotel was spot on, I was definitely spooked, and very intrigued. You want to assume it is one person, then you change your view to think it was someone else.... then you think it's the next person! It totally made me question everyone motives, and I like that. I did guess who it was, but only a paragraph before I actually read it. And it was a very good twist! This one is a definite must read of hers, and I will be telling everyone I know to get their hands on a copy!

There’s just something about curling up with a good book & your favorite blanket in the winter, am I right? ❄️ 🍷 📖 🎧

A great dual timeline slow burn about friendship, cliques, & gossip. After leaving her hometown and moving hours away, Cait Dubois is pulled back to a place she wished to never visit again, Hotel Lilith. During her stay, the truths that are revealed about what happened to her best friend that night after prom are hard to swallow. Meg Price did a fantastic job narrating. She does a great job at giving each character distinguishable tones so it is easy to follow.

Reading Between the Wines book review #130/115 for 2021:

Book 🎧: The Reunion

Sipping thoughts: Another great book by KMod! I don’t know how she manages to write so many books and they all have a different plot. How she writes books similar to other author’s plots but yet the swerve she gives in her plots are bar none! I love a good whodunit especially when you add in characters that have a past smothered in lies and secrets. I had to finish this book so badly that when I took my daughter shopping at the mall, I just kept my buds in so I could listen as she shopped! As I read, about halfway in, I had a theory. I wanted to see if my theory was correct, so I wrote it down. I knew I was kidding myself because, c’mon, we all know KMod is the Queen of twists. I was actually proud of myself because I figured out the main twist. There was an aspect that I did not think of but overall, my guess was right! Well on to the next book by Modglin, titled The Lucky Ones-released on January 11, 2022.

Sipping synopsis in seconds: Cait returns for her reunion albeit begrudgingly. She did not want to deal with past schoolmates and the secrets that it may bring. Most reunions are very nostalgic and there is nothing different about this one. Except it comes with reveals, lies, and truth. The story is told in a dual timeline, alternating between back in school before the “horror” to 10 years later, the reunion. All the classmates returned back to the reunion just as immature and mean girls as ever. But everyone seems to be hiding something.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley, @kierstenmodglinauthor and @DreamscapeMedia for an advanced copy of @TheReunion.

Cait Du Bois is a well known bestselling author who is returning to Hotel Lilith for her class reunion. She had said she would never go back to the hotel after the worst night of her life happened there, but she decides to use the event to flaunt her new, successful life.

She is trying her best to survive the week, when she begins getting strange phone calls, packages and text messages. It seems someone knows what happened that night and are trying to bring the truth to light.

What is Cait hiding? What happens to her if everyone finds out what really happened all those years ago?
This is about to become a reunion everyone is dying to attend.

Kmod did it again!! Whenever I see she has a new release coming, I know I have to get my hands on it! This one was no exception! I can’t get enough of Kiersten Modglin. Her books hook me from the beginning and I know to expect a wild ride.
The Reunion starts with Cait returning to the hotel where she had her senior prom. Weird things begin to happen during her stay. This was the place her best friend died and now it seems like Jamie is haunting the hotel.
This book alternates between present day at the hotel and the past leading up to their prom at the same hotel. I really enjoyed this thriller and loved the flashbacks! I didn’t want to stop listening to this book until I knew what was going on.
Read this book if you like ghost stories or a revenge plot!
Thank you netgalley and Dreamscape media for my advanced listening copy!
