The lawyer by marni Mann is definitely a hot romance book. The plot of the book is pretty lame. The plot is a l a California,,reality show ,horndog lawyer, oh I’ve never had a one night stand -but I wear no underwear chick. If you are needing some auditory sex this is the book for you. I was listening to this in my car hoping that I had the volume low enough at Starbucks drive through that they couldn’t hear. Also hoping you don’t wreck and lose consciousness. Because what would the rescue squad think

This was my first Marni Mann book. So all the long time readers out there can take my opinion with a grain salt.

Love the drama and the spice and there is a lot of steamy spice.

I did feel at times the descriptions of Kendall might have been geared toward male readers. I was literally thinking a man might like this..... like i wasn't really into it. Maybe it just wasn't for me.

I don't think we're reading this book for plot because the story is very superficial, which is probaly fine if you just want a hot, kinky read.

I love spice don't get me wrong. But I really love angst and build up. And there simply was none in this, although I think there works be lots of readers who would enjoy this.

This books was well …. 🥵🥵🥵

I had an appointment to listen to the Audio of this book thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher .

I love a good audiobook and often find that it is my first choice when it comes to options to read a book. So how exciting was it to find this book and get a sneak peak of this audio. Once I herd it I knew I wanted to read this.

So let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. I really liked this book. Though I did feel that they were parts of it that could’ve been worked on but other than that it was fairly interesting. I liked the drama that the two sisters had and the conflict between the two main characters.

I like that the drama did not centered too much on the relationship. I like that the third at conflict was not something that had to do with the couple themselves. Which is one of the third act dread when a couple breaks up. But this was really good

I do have to say one of the reasons why I did not give it such a high star was that there was a lot of smut. 😬
Now remember I’m listening to an audiobook so driving in my car listening to it or while I’m at work hearing some naughty stuff is not the best. Especially when it seems like it continues. Although I do enjoy the male actors voice I did find it to be a bit cheesy at times. This is the first time I listen to his voice I think and it took me a while to get used to. But I do have to say I enjoyed when it wasn’t sexual when he talked. I liked his natural non sexy voice 😂

The female actor did a really great job. But I have read quite a few books that she has voiced so I am used to her voice.

I think the audiobook sounded wonderful which made this book a pleasant lesson. I do feel like there were some parts of the book that were not my favorite but other than that I think a lot of people would enjoy this book so happy reading and listening.

This was my first book by Marni Mann, and I must say that I really enjoyed it! I loved the plot of the story~ Kendall had just moved out to LA to work for her famous sister, and found herself turning into the star on a new reality show. Dominick was an entertainment lawyer that she had met, and he saw something special in her, and not just her acting ability.

The characters were fun, and I felt the connection that Kendall and Dominick had. I especially loved that the climax of the story was not the typical found in most romance books.

The Lawyer (The Dalton Brothers #1) 3.5 Stars. This was a spicy romance book that felt like a new reality star on a Bravo show intertwined with her lawyer in a passionate and drama-filled relationship.

Narration: I love Tim Paige & Kelsey Navarro. I am really happy they were a part of this project. They have such a talent and way that they bring the characters to life.

Romance: Dominic Dalton would do anything for Kendall Roy. Did it feel unrealistic? Yes. But was I entertained? Also yes!

Heat/Steam: There was a lot of spice throughout this book. I mean you hardly finish the first chapter and things are already getting steamy between Dominic & Kendall. Nothing was too taboo or wild in my personal opinion. The scenes were very detailed (blush-worthy) and I would say this is a listen with headphones type of audiobook.

Story/Plot: I found this book to be pretty predictable, but I did enjoy it. The conflicts were similar to things I have read before, the romance was pretty on par with a lot of other books, and the ending was a pretty standard ride off into the sunset and be in love forever scenario. This book felt very much like a Bravo reality star intertwined and in love with her lawyer. I personally don't love the vibe I get from reality TV Hollywood stars so a lot of elements annoyed me about the character's actions.

Characters:
Kendall Roy: I love a woman who is open with her sexuality and knows what she wants, speaks her mind, and stands up for herself. I found that Kenall had all these qualities but that Dominic almost took over and tried to do everything for her.

Dominic Dalton: Is a strong-headed lawyer who doesn't take no for an answer. He was 100% in on Kendall from the start and had hardly any internal conflict about dating a client. I do appreciate a character that falls first but he was a little overbearing for me at times throughout the story.

Daisey Roy: Kendall's sister is a full-blown bitch. I hated every single second of her character (I know that's the point.) It felt like every horrible Hollywood clout chaser out there and Marni did a good job of writing a character who gets under your skin.

Kendall has the night of her life with the extremely sexy Dominick, however when morning comes she has to run or be late to meet her very actress sister who is demanding and nasty when she doesn't get her way. Kendall moved to LA to be her assistant to help her when her last few assistants quit. When she finally gets to the meeting at Kendall's lawyers office she finds the sexy man of last night is Kendalls attorney. Now he has a prospect for her that would launch her into stardom and angering her sister who doesn't like sharing the spotlight.

This is a typical romance however it does dive into what fame can do to some people and how the media treats actors/actresses as if they are things instead of people. Things without feelings or should expect every aspect of their lives to be open books to anyone who wants to know something. Sometimes the lure of fame outshines the reality. The narrators were good and there are quite the steamy scenes. This is definitely a fun read.

This was 90% smut and 10% plot... which was a real bummer for me. Don't get me wrong, I love me some smut (we all know this lol), but the couple got together within the first 3% of the book... that is something I can't stand. I will say the relationship steadily built from there and I appreciated that the 3rd act conflict actually had nothing to do with the couple, but I just felt like this book was fine? I didn't hate and I didn't love it.

I think my biggest struggle is that this type of book is not what I'm used to from Marni Mann - I've read the first two books in her Moments in Boston series and those books gripped me from page one and made me feel all the feels! So going from those books to this... I was pretty let down.

If you're looking for a quick, smutty read, you'll probs really like this, just wasn't what I was hoping for.

Overall I think that this was a very middle-of-the-road book. The romance was okay, not as taboo as I'd like, and the spice scenes were various... almost verging on too many I'd say. It was almost like any problem Kendal had was resolved by Dominic having sex with her.
The drama between Kendal and her sister was very cliché and I for one am not a fan of internalized misogyny or having a man be the root of all the problems between a woman and her sister. Also everything seemed to be resolved really quickly as if Mann forgot that there was drama and had to wrap it up quickly before handing in her final draft.
If you're looking for smut with barely any plot, this is the perfect book for you!

4 holy smokes stars

Dominic is like every woman's fantasy of the perfect man. A sweet and charming protector that loves fiercely but a very naughty boy in the bedroom. I listened to the audiobook that is narrated by Kelsey Navarro and Tim Paige. Both did a fabulous job. I am always a fan of Tim Paige and his narrations. He did not disappoint with this one either. He has the perfect amount of smokiness to his voice that can make a lady swoon. Listening to the books he narrates is always a pleasure.
This book is definitely steamy guilty pleasure. This is my second book from Marni Mann that I have read and she is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Sometimes you just need a good hot book that checks all your boxes and to help ignite those fantasies.

Thank you to the publisher for letting me listen to the audiobook version of this via netgalley.

Kendall is new to Hollywood and her sister's personal assistant. The last thing she thought she would be doing at a party is letting a stranger take her to a hotel room to have fun. The next day she was running late to a meeting with her sister. Who at this meeting, but now other than the mystery man from last night. Dominic is an entertainment lawyer. Kendall's sisters lawyer to be exact.

Interesting celebrity romance. Definitely not a slow burn. Each chapter is exciting and hot. It kept me hooked and interested the entire time.

The Lawyer was fast-paced and steamy and instantly made Marni Mann a must read for me! Dominick and Kendall’s relationship may have started as a physical attraction, but I really loved how the emotional connection grew through all of their adorable interactions, and the drama with Kendall’s sister was just enough angst to keep this book from slipping into the “syrupy-sweet” category. I can’t wait for book two!

Side note: I was lucky enough to receive the audiobook ARC of this and HIGHLY recommend it just to listen to Tim Paige narrate Dominick’s POV. *MELTS* Kelsey Navarro did amazing with Kendall’s POV too!

This was a great start to this series. Dominick is a hot shot entertainment lawyer. Kendall just arrived in Hollywood to help her sister. There is an instant connection between Dominick and Kendall and can’t help the magnetic pull between them. Great romance story.

Need a book to listen to in one sitting? Perhaps while you are cleaning up after the holidays? This book checked all of those boxes for me.

A few things that I appreciated about this book: 1 - a sweet and loving female MC who knew exactly what she wanted in bed and didn't have to play dirty to get it or state what she wanted up front. 2 - a male MC that also did not play games and at no point even though he was a "boss" in his life made the female MC feel unworthy or even question his affection for her. These few characters along with a plot line that is typically not written about in the romance genre made this book a page turner for me.

I also enjoyed the alternating narrators that told both perspectives of the MC's in this story. I thought they did a fantastic job at capturing each characters personality told in the story.

This was my first book by Marni Mann but it will not be my last!

A big thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and the author for allowing me to listen to an early copy of this book!

3.5 Stars

I enjoyed this audio, I really did. Let me just say though, the voice for Domique was awful!! I kept waiting for him to say "I'm Batman damit" I just think he's a horrible audible person. I would of given this book a 5 star review had it not been the MC voice.

The story is sexy, funny and fast paced. I will definetly do another Marni Mann audible providing soneone is else the male.

Kendall was a great female lead, and her narrator was great as well.

Great side characters, this was an easy story listening book.

*3.5 STARS*

THE LAWYER by Marni Mann is a new series surrounding brothers who work together, and I have to tell you that you need to be prepared to have your kindle smoking or ears on fire once you start reading this sinful book.

This book follows Kendall and Dominick. They hook up and one of the other Dalton brothers events and from the first chapter they are on fire. But after one taste, Dalton knows that there is more to Kendall than just a one-night stand so he set out to make her a star. The problem is that her sister, who is also trying to make a name for herself in LA isn't having it and trouble ensues.

Dominick swears he's this playboy, never giving a woman more than one night but Kendall blows that out of the water. Kendall knows that there's something more to their relationship and she's not afraid to put herself on the line to get it. I have to respect her for that even though there was more than one time I wanted to tell her to walk away.

Dominick's brothers are all pretty cool so I look forward to having more from them in this series, but Kendall's sister Daisy is a selfish jerk. I wish she had more comeuppance in the story, but you can't have everything.

Fair warning, anyone who doesn't want to have sex, sex, and more sex in their story probably needs to steer clear from this one because the sex here starts at chapter one and doesn't finish until the end of the story. I actually thought it got to be a bit excessive so that's saying something for me. It was certainly hot, but I wanted the story to progress along a bit more in between romps.

I listened to this on audio and I have to admit that when it comes to erotica, it's really hard to get the right narrators for it. I don't know that either did a fantastic job, but they were pretty decent. I wish it had been dual narrated because neither the female nor male narrator could do the other sex's parts in the way that they needed to be done.

Overall though, I enjoyed the story and would like to continue with the series. I'd like to know what the other brothers get up to that's for sure.

Marni Mann is an exceptional author and I have never read a bad book from her. This book absolutely floored me and I found myself so in love with it. The passion that the couple has for each other is so powerful. Both their jobs are new plot lines for me and I simply loved the story.

I listened to the audiobook version and these two narrators did a great job. I am actually pretty picky when it comes to narrators if I’m going to listen to an audiobook so I was very pleased with these two. For the amount of steam and passion in this book, they absolutely killed it.

Dominick and Kendall find an instant attraction and connection to each other. A passionate and intense night leads to a new morning where they unexpectedly meet again. They find themselves working together and slowly navigating how this intense attraction will play out, especially with Kendall's position in life. With Dominick considering himself a forever bachelor, how will Kendall steer him towards this new idea of commitment, all while being in the spotlight? We see it all unfold.

Celebrity romance with a twist!

The heroine: Kendall Roy - A graphic artist who moved to Hollywood to be the personal assistant to her sister who is a reality television start and a diva to boot. While in a meeting with her sister’s entertainment lawyer and agent, Kendall is offered a chance to be on a new and highly anticipated reality show.

The Hero(es): Dominic Dalton - An entertainment lawyer. He has a rule about dating his clients, mostly because he leads a private life and doesn’t want to be in the limelight. He works at a law firm with his brothers, each of them practice a different type of law.

The Story: Kendall and Dominic meet in a bar and have a one night stand, then part ways until they find themselves in the same meeting hours later. Dominic is impressed by Kendall’s beauty and personality and thinks she is a perfect fit for the new reality series that is going to start filming soon and lost a cast member.

The book begins when the Hero and heroine see each other across a crowded bar and exchange some glances, then he sees her later. He basically tells her he wants her and does whatever he can to get what he wants. He tells her she has 10 seconds to decide if she wants him or wants to walk away then starts counting down. I personally would have walked away. She just stands there until he kisses her and tells her to start walking or he will carry her.

At that first meeting, Dominic just seemed way too cocky and high handed and it bothered me how quickly they went from exchanging names to intimate contact, but I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised since she went out to a club without panties, giving easy access. Also his thoughts kept referring to his “tip” and his “crown” which drove me crazy.

I have to say after that first meeting I was about to quit the book but it got much better fairly soon. The intimate scenes were sizzling hot and there were quite a few of them, but there was a good story to go with and some great supporting characters including Charlize who was a fabulous friend, the sister Daisy who makes a good villain, and Dominic’s brothers Ford and Jenner.

The narration was done by Kelsey Navarro and Tim Paige and they both did a great job. Their voices sounded age appropriate for the characters and I love it when there is dual narration. I enjoyed listening to this one and if you like the celebrity trope this was a great book. I liked that the “star” was the heroine.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

Thoughts : I was given a chance to listen to an advance copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review. Well if im honest there wasn’t much to this book other than a hump fest , like come on give a little build up before they “ do it “ . The plot was sorta weak and boring imo . Just a meh listen unless you are here for the sex scenes then this is the book for you . #thelawyer #marnimann #netgalley #dreamscapemedia #romanceread #humpfest #audiobookstagram #audiobooklover #bookstagram

I love when I find a book that has the hero who falls fast and hard for the heroine. I like it when they just know that they are the one and life will be different. Dominic did fight it just a tad in the beginning, but it sure didn't take him long to realize Kendall was it for him. Dominic had presence and he's very hard to resist. The chemistry between and him and Kendall was on fire.

Kendall is the girl next door type. She's the hot girl who doesn't know she's hot. That made her a bit naive in this book. Her sister Daisy is the other woman drama and she was just a bad sister but thankfully that was all there was to it. No other woman drama with Dominic.

I liked that the famous trope was done a bit differently for this book. Kendall is a brand new reality star and has no idea what she is getting herself into. You see Dominic doing a lot of protecting in this. I don't usually like the paparazzi and twisted gossip that usually comes with a trope like this but Dominic made it bearable.

I also listened to the audiobook and the narrators were really good. I felt like they made this book very easy to listen to and really made their story come to life. I highly recommend the audiobook. I'm hoping Dominic brothers get their own story. They were all very intriguing.
