Dominick Dalton is as sexy as they come. A fierce lawyer who is good at his job and who goes after what he wants. For tonight he wants the gorgeous woman across the room from him. Taking Kendall to his hotel room for a night of passion was supposed to be the beginning, middle, and end of it. Then, the following morning she walks into a meeting with his client, a client who just happens to be a nasty bitch, and her sister. Unexpectedly seeing her again shouldn't change anything, but still feeling her under him, Dominick finds it impossible to stay away from her. Moving from Boston to L.A. to become her sister's assistant, Kendal never imagined that fame, fortune, and love would follow. Too bad in L.A. being a celebrity means no privacy, especially when her own sister becomes the enemy. Dominick might be a lawyer to the rich and famous, but he wants nothing to do with the limelight that follows his clients. At least not until Kendall. Now he needs to juggle his need for her with his desire for anonymity and to keep Kendall safe. An impossible feat, when paparazzi and fans are involved. The first book in the Dalton Brothers series presents three brothers who are powerful, rich, gorgeous, and successful. Dalton, the first to fall, is all that and more. He is a bad boy in the bedroom, with a dirty mouth and a heart of gold. Definitely, the man Kendall needs...

YES! Just what I needed! It has been quite a while since I have read a book by this author but I definitely knew I was going to have a great time and it was going to be sexy when I started this one and I was not disappointed. Dominick is an entertainment lawyer who does not want to be in the spotlight. He likes quiet nights at home with the occasional night out but when he meets Kendall he knows this one has to be his...at least for the night. It was supposed to be only one night. When they both show up at the same meeting the next day, him as the lawyer for her sister and she as her sister's assistant, he only wants to get Kendall to be the new face for the upcoming reality show. Crazy sister, yeah. Soon Kendall is the new IT girl but she and Dominick cannot keep their hands to themselves even though they are keeping it behind closed doors. When it all blows up, Dominick proves he is not only a great lawyer but an even better man.

This book was an okay book especially since it is the first book of a new series. I have not read many books by this author but in this instance, I have to say that so much of this book could have been cut out.

Kendall, new to Hollywood and assisting her sister, has a one night stand with what at first was a stranger but later turned out to be her sister's attorney. She is offered a chance of a lifetime with the chance to star in a reality TV show and her career takes off despite the anger and jealousy from her sister.

Dominick, a successful entertainment attorney and confirmed bachelor with no desire to have a relationship meets Kendall and it was instant infatuation. He later discovers that she is a family member of a client but can't resist offering her the chance of a lifetime nor can he resist having her in his bed.

The chemistry between this pair was off the charts as the pair have an instant love type relationship. It was a hot chemical reaction but the story itself could have been cut down. There was a lot of description of each of the main character's body and what they find attractive about each other. I also found the premise that Kendall appeared to do no wrong was a bit hard to believe and that she would sit back and take the abuse from her sister like she did throughout most of the book. The white knight position that Dominick took throughout the book was a bit much for a person that he had a one night stand with and then all of a sudden wants to 'help'. And finally the resolution between the 'evil' sister and the 'good' Kendall was a bit much especially with the whip lash type change that the sister made.

Overall, this was just an okay read for me. I also listened to the audio version and where that version did not change my opinion of the entire story, the narrators did a good job at performing the story.

Absolutely filthy from start to finish, this fling to more romance is HOT, and the audio version just takes things up a notch. I’ve read about 250 romance novels in the last year, and this audiobook still made me look over my shoulder to make sure no one was listening, lol. Because, yeah, it’s sizzling. While I wasn’t completely sold on either the progression of the relationship (it goes from zero to sixty) or the characters themselves (our hero seems to fall for his girl because of her thigh gap and her skill at riding his *ahem*), the writing is really solid and I found this to be a very enjoyable listen. I may have rolled my eyes a few times and fast-forwarded through one or two of the MANY steamy scenes, but I genuinely liked this overall.

The story follows Kendall, a woman whose sister is a reality star. She just started a new job working for her sister in the city, and it's there that Kendall meets a sexy stranger. Dominick took one look at Kendall and knew that he wanted her - just for the night - so it's not long before the two are heading up to his hotel room and heating up the sheets. But when Kendall joins her sister at a business meeting the next day and discovers that Dominick is her lawyer, things get complicated quickly. The man is just as intense out of the bedroom as he is in it, and Kendall finds herself agreeing to join a reality show herself. The move causes plenty of drama with Kendall's sister, and Dominick becomes her unlikely ally.

These two start banging within about a minute of meeting, and I wasn't sure what to think. But, WOW, does Mann know how to write a steamy scene. In audio? Whoa boy. The chemistry was dripping from every scene, and the sexual tension was undeniable. It took awhile for me to like either character (they're just so sex and image-obsessed), but the story itself was engaging. I liked the Hollywood romance and the focus on the dark side of reality television. It's a quick, mega steamy, bingeable read, and the book just flew by. The romance does get a little instalovey in the back half, but I guess that's to be expected when so much focus is on the steam. Overall, it was certainly not a bad way to spend the day, and it satisfied my light and sexy craving.

Audio note: This is hot, hot, hot in audio, and both narrators do an excellent job. Tim Paige's voice is deep and masculine, perfect for the MANY steamy scenes. Kelsey Navarro also does a great job, and the dual narration worked for me. Would've been better as a duet with all of that steam, but this is the next best thing. I found the audio to be incredibly easy to listen to, and the length was also ideal. I had no trouble finishing the book in one day, and I enjoyed it the whole way through. This is probably not the best book to listen to at the office, but the light and sexy vibes worked well in audio.

It was a bit hard for me to connect to Kendall as a character, but overall, I really did enjoy the story. Dominic, on the other hand, debuted very high on the ranking of book boyfriends. Wow, just wow.

Book one in a new series, spun off from The Agency series.

Kendall moved to LA to be her reality star sister's assistant. She shows up to a meeting, late, only to find her one night stand she left just a couple of hours ago. He is her sister's lawyer. He wants to help her become a star as well, but that means she is off-limits romantically. They TRY to resist....

While I didn't absolutely love the book, I did enjoy it and am curious enough to continue the series. Kendall and Dominick's relationship was pretty flat- there were two aspects- sex (and a LOT of it) and the drama surrounding her career and sister.

I listened to the audiobook. Both narrators did a fine job. My only complaint is that the male narrator read at a faster pace than the female. The app I have to use for the advance copy only allows you to adjust speed in increments of 25%. The pace felt too slow for Kendall's chapters at default, but 1.25 was a bit too fast for Dominick's.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the male MC in this book. He was cocky and sexy but had the personality and job to back up the attitude. He book was spicy and light paced, but I could never get into the female MC. She was too perfect and out of nowhere she found the most amazing best friend, a career that blows up even before the public knows her with just a reality show about party girls, and she just falls for the guy way too easy and quickly.
Overall it was a fun read but I wish more time had been taking developing the MC instead of suddenly everything happening for her.

I listened to the audible version of this story and the narrators did a great job with the characters. This was a good erotic story and I enjoyed both of the main characters Dominick and Kendall. I absolutely despised Kendall's sister Daisy, and even after she apologized for everything that she did I still didn't like her. There were moments where Kendall came off as a weak character and I wanted her to stand up to her sister. This was a story full of sex scenes, jealousy, revenge and scandals but I wish there was more to it other than the sex that Dominick and Kendall had every time they were together. I think this story had the potential to be a great read for me if the characters spent a little more time together outside of the bed. It would have given me more time to connect with their characters. This wasn't a bad story, but I just needed something a little more to make it a great read for me. It wasn't a five-star read for me, but I would be willing to give the next book in the series a tr

This was a mostly good listen (or read). The premise, the characters. storyline and setting all timely and good given the proliferation of reality shows and living ones life online. There was insta-love/attraction, family conflict and some good friendships. While I know this is a romance and I am not shy I did find some of the sex scenes over the top, gratuitous and repetitive. It was more like porn than romance. I did at times fast forward through some of them because they were a repeat of the one from the last chapter. Almost felt as if the scene were just cut and pasted from the previous chapter. Aside from that I really did enjoy this story and look forward to the next in this series. This was my introduction to this author and my only question is what took me so long to find her?? I upgraded from 3.5 to 4 as half stars not available.

Ok wow I couldn’t put this down!! It started with a bang and ended even better. The steamy scenes were 🔥🔥🔥 and listening to the audio version makes the experience even better! I really enjoyed the narrators voices. I cannot recommend this book enough!

A huge thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing me with the audiobook in exchange to my honest review. 🤍

When you see my rating of this book, you’ll probably think I didn’t enjoy the book, but that isn’t the case. I enjoyed it, sure, but I was very disappointed in the overall content. The story is predictable and superficial and honestly, way more sexual than necessary.

I know, I know, “too much sex? what does that even mean?” lol And I feel you, but when a story reads like a porno-on-paper and not much else, there’s way more sexual activity than necessary. I don’t know a whole lot about this author’s voice and style yet so I’m not giving up just yet, but I need a bit more substance in my full-length books than what she provided with this one. I read a few of her books about 5 years ago and was very satisfied at the time, I just don’t know what happened with this one. I’m not going into a play-by-play of this, that or the other but the bones of this story had plenty of room for substance and fleshing out but it just fell completely flat. There was little to no relationship growth between Kendall and Dominik except for their sexual compatibility. The big conflict in the story revolved mainly around Kendall and not directly on their relationship which on the one hand was refreshing but on the other ridiculously predictable and cliché.

Overall, I can’t really recommend this book to anyone looking for a sexy romance read, not because there was no romance, but because it was overshadowed to the point of darkness by the sexual nature of the storyline. I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the Dalton men and I also have some other books by Marni in my audible library and kindle library I’ll be reading in the near future. If you’re good with a fluff read full of sexual content, then this book will be right up your alley :) so go do the thing …

Sidenote: I did rec’v a copy of this book for its Blog Release Tour and I did read it back in September for that tour but for obvs reasons I decided back then not to review until later. I’d actually totally forgotten about reviewing until I rec’v an opportunity to listen to an early copy of the audio version from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley so here I am reviewing LOL I enjoyed the narration of the story, Kelsey Navarro & Tim Paige worked well together and they both did very well with the different male/female voices however my listening experience didn’t really change my opinion/experience of the overall story.

I love Marni Mann books especially her darker ones. This book felt different from her usual style of books. It was very sexy and erotic but very little focus on the romance and the couples relationship beyond sex. Most of the book's focus was on the problems and lack of privacy the heroine Kendall faces as she films a yet to be aired reality series. Also, the jealousy that her sister Daisy another reality star displays and the sabotage that she attempts to thwart her career.

The most focus on the couple is their sexy times which are many and quite hot. I enjoyed these scenes but their relationship goes from 0 to 60 really quickly without any real development.
What was missing in this book is the focus on their relationship. There was no real conflict to overcome once they were both committed to dating each other only external forces. Their relationship lacked romance and just felt like a lot of steam. No doubt they were into each other but you didn't get many of those emotional romance moments in this book.

Now the good:

Marni sure knows how to write a hot sex scene. My ears were burning up listening to all the smexiness! I wish more romance books were as thorough as she is with these scenes.

I really like that the hero who is a lawyer (hence the name of the book) really has Kendall's back personally and professionally from the beginning of her series contract to the ending of the book. We see him negotiate and fight on her behalf against the studio and her sister. In this he really shows his commitment to her and his brilliance as a lawyer. He earns his book title.

Overall I still enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone that wants to read/listen to something really steamy to warm up their winter nights. It will definitely get you in in a jolly spirit for the holidays.

There were aspects I both enjoyed and wished for with this story between a lawyer and his client.

I enjoyed the interactions between them that weren't solely focused on their physical yearning for one another, which were far and few between. The pair did a lot more talking with their bodies than they did with clothes on, which led to the question as to whether they really had a connection outside of the physical. The chemistry was definitely there and very descriptive, but I would have liked to have seen more intimacy and romance outside of that.

One of the best choices I believe was made, was not to use the entertainment setting as a reason to break the pair apart, as that would have been an easy ploy to use towards the latter half of the story. Focusing instead on the main antagonist of the story — which also happened to be Kendall's sister – was a good choice. She definitely delivered in being a villain throughout (almost) the entire arc. I'm looking forward to seeing what might be in store for the other Dalton brothers.

I listened to an advance copy of the audiobook from NetGalley. The book was okay. I’d consider reading the next two books about the other Dalton brothers when they come out. I lost count of how many times the characters slept together. This is definitely a spicy book. There’s a story line but like, it’s not that deep. We are here for the steam. Not amazing but also not bad.

The Lawyer is a game of chess that proves itself too intriguing to pass up. Mann draws readers into a tempting battle of wits that proves hard to read, but captivating all the same. The question is who's in control of this house of cards. Hot, heartstopping, unpredictable. The perfect introduction to a sophisticated kind of storytelling.
