Slow-paced, the ending didn't provide closure. There were a lot of things left in the air and unanswered. The time lines were confusing at points. However, the story line was well written and I enjoyed the reading the story.

Many readers know about the time in 1926 when Agatha Christie disappeared for eleven days. There was a nationwide hunt and she was eventually found in a coastal town and insisted she remembered nothing. This is that story but told from another perspective. This is the perspective of Nan O'Dea who is Archie Christie's mistress and second wife. In this telling, Agatha disappeared after Archie informed her that he would be divorcing her and marrying Nan.

Nan grew up between London with a large family of sisters and summers in Ireland at her uncle's farm. There she met the love of her life, Finnbar. They plan to marry but World War I intervenes. When Nan finds herself pregnant, she is taken to an orphanage run by the Catholic Church. There pregnant unmarried girls deliver their babies who are then adopted out. Nan runs away after her daughter is adopted.

In this imagining, a hotel is full of people who become suspects after a newly married couple is murdered . There is Nan and some of her friends from the orphanage. Finnbar is nearby and there is a British policeman called Chilton who is assigned both to the murder and to look for Mrs. Christie. The reader learns why Nan went after Archie and why she won't give him up even to have a life with Finnbar.

I listened to this book and the narrator did an excellent job. When Agatha was speaking, the voice reminded the reader of the upper class English life. When the nuns were speaking, one could imagine the sarcastic smiles they had as they pretended they were there for the best outcome for the girls. Nina de Gramont captures the time and place perfectly. Her imaginative take on the event is one that will remain in the reader's memory long after the last page is read. This novel is recommended for readers of women's fiction.

I really liked that story overall but I have to say, Agatha’s first husband Archie, was pretty awful and I was not in the mood to read about him again. But I kept seeing people talk about The Christie Affair and I also like to read most of Reese’s Book Club picks as well so I thought I should finally give it a try. And what a story!! The Christie Affair is an intriguing story about secrets, lost love, betrayal and more. There’s something for everyone in this story and is especially suited for historical and mystery fans. I highly recommend it!

I've tried to read this multiple times and I end up with the same ideas and issues.

This book is really dull with extremely annoying characters. They are all so unlikeable and cringe worthy that I found it difficult to wade through.

I wished a historical fiction book of Agatha Christie's disappearance would have been entertaining and fascinating, but this book didn't make me care about it at all.

I unfortunately did not download this one in time, but did purchase a copy through book of the month and am reviewing from reading that copy. I thought this was a fun and imaginative way to view Agatha Christie from a unique point of view as her husbands mistress and was written in a way that was respectful to the Christie mystery storyline where it felt like one of her stories in some aspects! I have added it to my Agatha Christie shelf and will recommend to those who like historical fiction with a sprinkle of fun!

I feel like this could have been a 5 star read, but the execution feels more like a 2 star book. It was slow and a bit confusing. Not only is the narrator the mistress, but she comes across as cold and self-centered. This one just didn't work for me.

This was just an okay read for me. I didn't really connect with the characters or the story. I read this book as the BN book group monthly read.

In London in 1925 is the new world of townhomes and tennis matches. During this time Miss Nan O’Dea became the mistress of the famous Agatha Christie’s husbands mistress. Why would she do such a thing and ruin a perfectly good marriage.

Some of you may know the story of Agatha Christie going missing for eleven days. Well this story is an enrapturing story of what might have happened behind this mystery and why it happened. I would definitely give this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars.

I loved this book! Thank you for the ARC. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t leaving reviews on netgalley and was solely sharing on Instagram. My apologies. Huge fan of this author! I actually received the tangible copy. Trying to clean up my netgally account.

I really enjoyed The Christie Affair by Nina de Gramont. I was relatively familiar with Agatha Christie and her mysterious days-long disappearance, but I loved how this book expanded on it and added a fictional element. The plot line with the woman losing her daughter was truly heart-breaking and I didn't see the plot twist coming.

Thank you Netgalley for the audio book. What a fun read and take on the famous author! Worth the listen.

I thought that this story was absolutely brilliant. The plot built around the premise of Agatha Christie and her disappearance but was layered with so much character development and side stories and it truly from start to finish was such an entertaining read. I think the audiobook added to the almost cinematic experience and it just was top tier. I know its not related but this book gave me similar glamorous vibes comparable to the great Gatsby and I have honestly not found a book that has given me a similar feeling in awhile which was so nice. This book was amplified by the audio and honestly overall I thought it was amazing.

I am a newbie to the mystery genre and I think this is a great place to start! It’s so entertaining and touches on a subject that I find interest in as being a big fiction guru. Loved this book and flew through it in two days!

The Christie Affair is one that I was excited to read to see about Agatha Christie's missing days. I thought the premise was interesting but I don't know I just didn't love it. I think I needed to realize it was far heavier on the fiction than the historical going in to fully appreciate this one. So here is your warning: It revolves around her disappearance and has some real names but it is complete fiction. As it was it was entertaining and I ended up giving it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

A mystery about one of the most famous mystery writers? Count me in! The Christie Affair was a fun take on Agatha Christie’s disappearance. I loved that it was told from Nan’s point of view and hearing this story unravel. When it ended I kept wishing there was more!

I tried so hard but I could just not get into this book! The story never fully pulled me in so unfortunately I gave up on it,

To be honest I almost gave up at 50%.. I was a bit bored and didn't know where it is going. The story is told by Agatha Christie's husband's mistress. However, if you stay with it you will be rewarded. It was an interesting story of the 11-day Agatha's disappearance. Please keep in mind this is fiction and it is the author's idea of what could have happened during those 11 days.

I really loved this story about the mystical days of Agatha Christie's disappearance in December 1925. Where did she go? What did she do? This story tells a possible answer to those questions and it was artfully done. I loved all the characters, flaws and all, and I thought he author and the narrator really brought this story to life. I want to thank the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for giving me an e-copy of this book, in return for an honest review.

This review’s been a long time coming.

So… this didn’t end up being my favourite book of all time, but I’m glad I read it. The writing was the stand out in this. It was beautiful and I was enamoured the whole time.

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t care much for Nan’s backstory, but rather I wanted more of the mystery aspect of Agatha Christie’s disappearance. I felt if the story went more in that direction--of the characters searching for Christie and trying to figure out where she was--that would’ve been way more interesting to me.

However, I did appreciate the multiple perspectives we got from the other characters, it quickened the pacing of this by A LOT. Nan’s backstory POV was a lot slower in pace by comparison.

This was still a great historical fiction and I would definitely read more from this author.
