The Christie Affair is a story about the 11 day disappearance of Agatha Christie in 1926. The story is told from Nan O'Dea's perspective; Nan was Agatha's husband's mistress.

I adore Agatha Christie and was really looking forward to this novel. It's an excellent idea, but telling the story from Nan's point of view didn't actually work for me. All we get is Nan's imagination and assumptions of what happened and where Agatha is. I don't care about Nan. I would have LOVED this if it was told by Agatha. The character's all fell flat. Great idea, poor execution.

Thank you NetGalley & St. Martin's Press for the arc.

For lovers of Downtown Abbey and period dramas. A slow paced character driven romantic ( in a way) historical fiction.

When I first read the premise for this book, I was intrigued. Not only would this book talk about the mystery surrounding Agatha's famous disappearance, but it is told from Archie Christie's lover's point of view. With that being said, the idea and the plot of the story was great. However, at times I didn't like Nan's point of view. I enjoyed her background story, but I thought the present day story was a bit far fetched. Knowing her back story made me feel sorry for her and understand some of the decisions that she made. However, her present day decisions and their consequences ( or lack thereof), was not realistic to me. I also felt like the story could have been a bit shorter. It was starting to get boring towards the end. With all that being said, again, I loved the idea of the book, and even liked the plot. However, the execution wasn't 100% there for me.

This is the story of a period of time when Agatha Christie goes missing. One would think that this is the focus of the story. However, since it was told from the point of view of the other woman - Nan- that shifts the entire focus of the novel. It’s a decent story. It’s good. It just didn’t captivate me. Thanks to NetGalley for the early read.

By now, most people know of the real life mystery Christie created when she disappeared for 11 days in 1925, the assumption being that she faked her own disappearance after uncovering her husband’s affair. de Gramont takes a different tack and follows Christie through those 11 days as she tries to uncover the truth about her husband’s lover and a murderous plot years in the making. A cracking good read

This was an interesting premise. I have always loved the disappearance of Agatha and wondered what really happened. I thought that this was a very interesting idea of what happened, but I do wish it would have been Agatha's story and not her husband's mistress telling it. The overall story had some great mystery to it, which made it a compelling read.

After listening to about 40% of this book I’ve decided it just isn’t for me!
I’m a big Agatha Christie fan and so I was excited when I saw this book! I love the idea of what happened in those day she’s was missing. What I got out of the book was nothing about Christie but instead we follow Nan while Christie is missing. I just didn’t connect to Nan and wasn’t interested in her back story. I found myself not really listening to the book so I knew I had to move on. You may enjoy this if you go into it knowing we don’t get to see much about Christie. Thank you to netgalley and Macmillan audio for my advanced listening copy!
