This was a fictional story based on true events about Agatha Christie’s disappearance for eleven days in 1926. The story is told by Nan de Gramont who was having an affair with Agatha Christie’s husband, Archie. Archie was planning on leaving Agatha for Nan but Agatha goes missing.

I thought this was a good read. It was a little slow at times but it picked up during the second half. There were a few twists that kept you guessing! Also, I wish there was more of Agatha in the book. We hardly get to see her side and I wish we did. It was still interesting to see the events unfold from the mistress point of view though. The narrator did a fantastic job and I loved all of her different accents.

Few facts are known about Agatha Christie’s 11-day disappearance in 1926. She left behind her beloved daughter and her cherished dog. This unsolved mystery is now providing fodder for creative authors. Her husband was about to leave her for another day. Seen mostly from the eyes of Nan, the mistress, the reader will have much sympathy for the life Nan has lived and will be kept guessing up to the end of the book about the outcome of the story and in particular, the birth mother of Christie’s daughter. Listening to the audio version helped bring out the various voices important in the story.

I listened to this book and I will admit I found it very slow going. I also had a hard time trying to care about a mistress’s side of the story.

I enjoyed this imaginative telling of Agatha Christie's 11 day disappearance in 1926. The story was well thought out and lively. The narration of the audio book was good. I recommend this to anyone who likes a good story, a mystery and a love story.

I likes the back story as to why Christie disappeared for the few days that she did. But as much as I wanted to know what the deal was with Nan I found myself not really all that interested.

In 1926, author Agatha Christie had become well-known for her mystery novels. On a December night, she disappeared for 11 days and was the subject of an unprecedented manhunt. When she was recognized in a hotel, registered under an assumed name, she claimed to have no memory of how she'd arrived there or what had happened to her. This is a fictional account of the unsolved mystery - with the emphasis on the "fictional" part. And the publisher's information is upfront about this, pointing out that Nina de Gramont has "reimagined" what happened.
The story is told by Christie's husband's mistress, whom he later married after divorcing Agatha. And while it's partially about what may have happened to trigger the disappearance and how and what happened to Agatha Christie during those 11 days, it's more about the mistress. Why did she target Archie Christie to take on as a lover in the first place? Ultimately it's her story, and it's a tragic one. It's an enjoyable read - there are definitely more mysteries at play than just Agatha Christie's disappearance, and yes, there are murders as well. The real-life mystery isn't solved here, but the fictional story is an interesting one, and is also based on a different historical story from the time period.
I listened to the audiobook, which was nicely narrated by Lucy Scott.

3/5 stars for this book. It moved a little too slowly for me and was confusing on audio with the dual timelines. It might have been a better experience if I read a hard copy instead of audio though! Either way, it was a good read and I’m so grateful for the advanced copy!

The narrator for this audiobook was really great, but the story just did not hold my interest. I think one of the issues was that I went into the book with flawed expectations hoping that the book was centered around Agatha Christie, but instead ended up with a perspective I wasn't expecting. I may try the book again in the future but probably not.

The story is told by the mistress of Archie Christie and it is sometimes hard to keep that in mind while reading. The story was good, but it was hard to keep fact and fiction separate.

I have been a fan of Agatha Christie's books since I was young. I was excited to dive into a story imagining what happened to Agatha Christie when she went missing. This was a compelling read.

This story was deeply intricate and well woven. I honestly couldve just read an entire book about Nan and everything she went through. However Nans struggles and the inexplicable way her life was intertwined with the Christie’s was very fascinating to read. I would very much recommend this book.

I love Agatha Christie books, so I was intrigued about The Christie Affair. It was an interesting historical fiction book outlining what could have happened in the 11 days that she disappeared. We look at her life as well as the life of the woman her husband was having an affair with.

There was love, there was abuse, and there were twists that I didn’t see coming. The book started off slow for me, but picked up and became more engaging as I got deeper into reading.

I had the luxury of listening to this book and found the narrator enjoyable to listen to.

I did not love this story. It moved slowly and I didn't enjoy the perspectives. I found the whole storyline about the mistress uncomfortable to read. I think I expected something different than what was provided by the synopsis.

Thank you to @netgalley, the author and publishers for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for a honest review.

I loved the imaginative concept of The Christie Affair, but it was not what I was expecting. I was thinking it would follow Agatha Christie when she went missing over those 11 days. While many of the events of the book take place around the time of Christie's disappearance, the story doesn't really focus on Agatha Christie. This is a highly fictionalized telling (mostly) from the perspective of the mistress of Agatha's husband, Nan O'Dea. At times, it felt like the two storylines between Nan and Agatha were competing against each other and didn't always meld together.

The narrator of the audiobook did such a great job with bringing the book to life. She would change her voice to make a clear distinction between the characters. Her pacing was great and made it easy to follow the story.

Overall, the story was an okay read for me.

For decades, people have wondered about the 11 days Agatha Christie went missing — and the facts never add up no matter how you look at them. But what if you zoomed in on the other woman instead? Archie Christie was having an affair with Nan O'Dea — but what if that wasn't the full story? This book takes a few parts of the story and reimagines and entirely new plot — one with just as many twists and turns and murder and deception as an infamous Agatha Christie novel.

This one is kind of hard to review and write a synopsis for – so much happens and none of it was expected. If you're thinking this is a book about Agatha Christie, it's not. It's about Nan and told from her perspective. The book's writing is from what this fictional Nan believed to be happening, rather than even a first-hand witness account. It's unlike anything I've read in that way.

I did eventually enjoy where this book took me as a reader, but not going to lie, I was pretty bored most of the time and confused the other times. I think just because the novel was really not at all what I was expecting, I was just so lost and that affected my interest in the book too. Kind of a shame because I did end up really getting into it toward the end!

I liked the audiobook ok, but probably wouldn't recommend it over reading.

This is a new author to me and I have never read anything that Agatha Christie had written so I had no clue what I was getting into but I didn’t need to know any of that stuff! This is a great book and it has it all. It is fun, sad, has romance and mystery! I’m so sure I’m going to be reading more books written by this author! Thanks for writing such a great book!

Fantastic book! You don't need to love Agatha Christie to love this book! As someone who does love Agatha Christie, I really enjoyed this book! What a story, I highly recommend you read this today!

This novel was sadly not what I had anticipated. I wanted more of a story to be about Agatha Christie's infamous disappearance and her return to her life. This is a story about Nan O`Dea - Mr. Christie's mistress. Nan narrates the story and it disturbed me that she would narrate the personal thoughts and actions of Agatha Christie - she could not know the innermost personal thoughts of any of the other characters and especially those of Agatha. Not for me.

An interesting historical fiction about what might have been the reason for Agatha Christie's 11 day disappearance. But more than this, it is about what Agatha Christie may have discovered during the 11 days she went missing. I listened to the audiobook version, and the narrator, Lucy Scott, did an excellent job.

“Perhaps a woman has a different kind of measuring stick. For when it might be acceptable, or even necessary, to commit a murder.”
― Nina de Gramont, The Christie Affair

The story of Agatha Christie's 11 day disappearance is the topic of The Christie Affair. We take a look into her personal life and her relationship with her husband in the book. It was a bit slow at times but it did lead up to an interesting story about the affair that Archie Christie had and about the mistress. There are clues through out the book that make sense once we get to the end. It was imaginative and the narration was well done.
