Thank you Macmillan Audio for the alc of Good Girl Complex. I loved the narrators and couldn't stop listening. I loved the banter between Mac and Cooper. Despite their differences, I loved how many things they found in common. I loved how Cooper seemed to understand Mac better than a lot of people in her life.

I didn't love the cheating or that Cooper pursues Mac as part of a bet, but it helped that Preston was such a jerk. I couldn't believe how terrible Mac's parents were and how uninterested they were with her or life. It was so cool that she was an entrepreneur and they acted like it was an embarrassment for her to have a career.
I was so proud of her for making a change and walking a way from a life like that.

I also liked that Mac didn't automatically take Cooper back and really made him work for it.

I can't wait for the second book in this series!

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrators are fabulous. I really enjoyed their performances. The story though was only okay for me. It wasn't bad or anything but just nothing stuck out with me. I have read a lot more romances that I have found more engaging.

This book was not for me. The characters were insufferable and annoying and I could not connect to them or the story at all.

Mackenzie "Mac" is a rich politician's daughter who is dying to make a name for herself. She may have deferred college for a year but this self made millionaire can't help looking for her next project while also starting her freshman year in Avalon Bay.
Cooper is Avalon Bay's bad boy townie twin who wants to stick it to the clone prick, Preston, for getting him fired. Cooper meet Mac, Preston's long time girlfriend aka "wifey material". There is instant heat between these two and surprisingly things in common, like crappy parents.

Young love in it's finest, plus some definite bad boy vibes make this relationship and book work. I enjoyed the banter and sarcasm of the characters. My only complaint is that there were too many. There are a lot of friends to remember that I feel didn't help the story along. I would love a sequel to see how Cooper and Mackenzie are working through their hotel remodel and difference of lifestyle.

This book was just… not it. Cooper and Mac are both insufferable to read about, and I didn’t care about whether or not they worked out their relationship problems or not. Cooper is toxic, Mac is annoying, and none of the characters are enjoyable. Not worth your time.

By the luck of whatever, I was fortunate enough to get an early copy of this audiobook and it really surprised me. Though this was not my first time reading Elle Kennedy,

Mackenzie and Cooper are by no means perfect. They both have flaws and issues that they have to work through throughout the book to become better versions of themselves. I loved how quickly they became friends with one another, it’s like they knew each other forever and Cooper really allowed Mackenzie to open up and feel free to talk about things she doesn’t talk to anyone about. I loved watching the connection grow into something that they didn’t expect. Though the chemistry that these two have is absolutely undeniable and for anyone reading this book could see it coming from a mile away. I really hope that this becomes a series of standalones. There’s so many great side characters, especially Cooper’s brother, Evan. I'd be really interested in hearing what his story is! The one thing I really didn’t like was that there was no epilogue to the story. It kind of just ended. I would have really appreciated a little bit more to feel satisfied with how everything played out. But overall, I enjoyed this book!

As far as audio goes I thought that Joe Arden and Ava Erickson did a fantastic job as Cooper and Mackenzie! I honestly couldn’t picture anyone else being their voices.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

P.s. I honestly couldn’t help but compare this book to After by Anna Todd, it just wasn’t as toxic.

The Good Girl Complex was a quick and FUN listen! Good girl meets bad boy set in a quaint southern college town…. Light, sexy, rich! A very needed change from all the psychological thrillers I’ve been reading!

Thanks to the author Elle Kennedy, the publisher St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen in exchange for an honest review!

This was my first Elle Kennedy book, and now I am hooked! Good Girl Complex was very fun and very hot. I usually hate the "you made a bet?!" trope, but this was done very well and didn't drag on. I did actually hate coopers friends, though - luckily, they were not often in the book!

The narrators were absolutely fantastic and brought the story to life. I love a dual POV audiobook, especially a romance.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for letting me read this early!

Good Girl Complex = Congressman's daughter during her freshman year of college + her entitled pretentious boyfriend + handsome and sexy 'bad boy' twins + adorable dog + epic parent fails

This contemporary romance is written with chapters alternating between hero Cooper and heroine Mackenzie. Mac was born with a silver spoon, and Cooper's from the wrong side of the tracks. I enjoyed their flirty banter, the beach/college town vibes, and Cooper and Evan's found family. This story has some steamy scenes! Unique aspects of the plot included Mackenzie's entrepreneurial businesses and Cooper's issues with his mother.

The audiobook narrators Ava Jackson and Joe Arden were perfect to convey Mac and Cooper's personalities. It was a great companion for a solo road trip.

Thanks to St. Martin's Griffin, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the review copies.

I like the main characters for different reasons. They were good people at heart and trying to find their own way outside the path their parents forged for them.

Mackenzie is a 18 year old college student with 7 figures in her “hobby account” which isn’t even the trust fund or money her parents provide her. So when she whines about not having agency, I think you have your own millions and you are technically an adult. Seems like Mac has way more options than her counterpart Cooper who is simmering with anger and resent against wealthy people and their privilege.
I get Coop’s anger but the course of action he took to get revenge against an entitled trust fund baby who pissed him off and got him fired from work was mean and despicable.

With that said, Coop and Mac were trying to maneuver out from the life their parents choices forced them into. I like how they made each other think and challenged each other. They are not afraid of hard work and they learned to how to be vulnerable with each other. They were good together.

I just have to admit that I was low-key jealous of Mac and her bank account. I am glad she made Coop work for a second chance. What he did was reprehensible but it was forgivable. This was a really good book.

Thank you to NetGalley , Macmillan Audio, and SMP for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

While I enjoyed the small town beach setting and the good girl/bad boy trope, I couldn't fully connect with this one. I struggled with the cheating and deception that was thrown in. It made it difficult to buy into the relationship. This book really centered on heteronormative gender stereotypes, but I felt content with Mack’s character development overall and her ability to ignore what her parents expected of her.

This is not my favorite of Elle Kennedy’s books, but it was overall a fast-paced easy read. I really enjoyed the two narrators used in the audiobook.

I enjoyed this book, the plot was fun and the characters were likeable. There were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way but I could get passed it. I ended up finishing it on audio and the narration was great. The plot was predictable but overall it was still a good read.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a free advanced copy of this ebook and audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was really good!
I liked the pace, the initial meeting, and how the whole relationship developed slowly.
Lots of great side characters, and the narration is superb.
Plus there is a puppy in the book!
Much love to NetGalley & Macmillan Audio for my DRC.

Mac and Cooper are from completely different worlds. As the daughter of a congressman, Mac always follows the rules and expectations that her parents have laid out for her. She must go to college, then marry her boyfriend, also from a rich family, and then establish herself within all of the social circles that the "wives" belong to. Charities, fund raisers and anything that will help support their husband's success. Mac is determined though and has plans of her own. By developing her own internet business Mac has already proven that she has what it takes to be successful in business. Unfortunately, this contradicts everything that her parents and boyfriend want for her.
Then along comes Cooper. He is also very driven and has big plans for his life too. Cooper is a townie, a local in the college town of Avalon Bay. Cooper, his twin and their group of friends resent the entitled, rich "clones" that look down on them and treat them terribly. Despite their differences Mac and Cooper meet and become friends. As the friendship blossoms so does the chemistry between them. Cooper hasn't been completely honest with Mac and that may drive them apart.
It was a fairly predictable plot but the chemistry between Mac and Cooper was written very well. It was a fun read, and I couldn't wait to see how it all played out.
3.5 Stars

This was something may of loved at 18. But at 31, my brain was just screaming “THIS IS SO TOXIC”. It made it hard to enjoy and even harder to root for them.

This book was a solid 4 stars. It didn’t change my life but I really enjoyed it. I loved the beginning enemies-to-lovers energy between Mackenzie and Cooper that slowly developed into heated attraction.

One thing I found really interesting and impressive was how different the voices were between the Coop and MacK chapters. And no, I don’t mean literally (since this was an audiobook), I mean the tone, the word choices, the vibe, *the voices*. It truly felt like it was two completely different people when I went back and forth between perspectives to the point where I kept asking myself, “did the same author write these two characters?” A truly great job on Kennedy’s part bringing us into the full immersion of these two characters’ worlds.

This book didn’t have a lot of conflict, which might be why it didn’t leave an impact great enough for a 5 star read. There was a foreseen conflict that we knew was coming from the very first few chapters of the book but it didn’t get addressed until way into the last third of the story. There was some family and relationship drama here and there but for the most part, the story focused on the development of Coop and Mack’s relationship.

That said, I enjoyed seeing them grow together. On top of that, this book has a little bit of spice that made it that much better. Coop definitely made it into the F rank of F*ck, Marry, Kill 😍😍

Aside from Mack and Coop, I really enjoyed the side characters including the witchy, incredibly confident Bonnie, the cocky playboy Evan, and the dynamic duo of Steph and Alana. This book left a lot of events unaddressed in regards to them. I’m not sure if Kennedy intends to create a series from these books, but I’d love to see more books that focus on these character’s stories!

Good girl/Bag boy + social class different are definitely one of my favourite tropes! I also love Elle Kennedy's work but I absolutely don't like cheating...

This was a quick and enjoyable read. It wasn't my favorite book, because to me it felt a little too predictable and unoriginal, but I still really enjoyed the characters and their stories. It was my first Elle Kennedy book, and I have heard so many great things about her other books, so I am really looking forward to reading more by her.

Elle Kennedy does it again with Good Girl Complex. Fans of her other works will enjoy this book. If you like a bit of spice with compelling characters and plot, this is definitely worth reading!

I started this and got about 20% in - I couldn't get past the characters. The main character Mac seems like she has no backbone and I found her kind of annoying. This one seemed pretty juvenile. I would still suggest romance fans try this one, maybe they'll like it more.
