With an appealing cast of characters, this was a romance with an awkward entanglement. I liked the storyline and it kept me engaged.
Many thanks to Zondervan and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Michelle is sure she is going to marry Korey, after all they have been dating for a year. But things do change. I loved this book as I do all by Amy Clipston. I was provided a copy by Netgalley but the opinions are mine.

Michelle has been dating Kory for over a year and it is getting harder to see all of her friends getting married and beginning their families. Kory seems distant and uninterested in taking the next step in their relationship, while his brother, Tyler, is a surprising source of friendship.

An engaging Amish romance with likable characters, and sweet relationship building throughout. I liked how Tyler is a good listener, and he encourages Michelle in her hobbies. He is hardworking and a guy who is trying to do the right thing. Michelle is a kind young woman, she dreams of a husband and children. I liked that she kept trying to think the best of Kory and encourage her best friend.

Overall, a delightful read. Well written and engaging, with characters that you can root for to overcome their complicated situation. A satisfying and enjoyable read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I am completely in love with this series by Amy Clipston! This newest installment, Building A Future, is the story of brothers Tyler and Korey and a sweet young Amish woman named Michelle. A bit of a love triangle, but filled with family, love, compassion and forgiveness. While Building a future is a heartwarming story, it is also a fun and engrossing story. Ms. Clipston has an amazing talent for bringing characters and their surroundings to life for her readers. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Building a Future is the second novel in Amy Clipston's Amish Legacy series. Amy Clipston is one of only a few authors of Amish fiction that I read and I was really excited to read this book after reading the first in the series. It did not disappoint.
The characters were really well written and relatable. You really felt like you had a sense of knowing them by the end of the book. There is just the right amount of faith filled themes throughout the book. Overall this was a really great book and I'm glad I got a chance to read it. Lovers of Amish fiction will for sure enjoy it.

In this second book in the Amish Legacy series, two couples seek the right directions to take in planning their futures. Although they have been dating for over a year, Michelle starts to doubt whether Korey will ever be ready to move their relationship to the next level. Korey seems more interested in a long friendship, while he devotes most of his time and energy to his friends. Korey's older brother Tyler tries to hide his growing attraction to Michelle, as he seethes with frustration over his brother's casual attitude towards Michelle. Although Tyler is dating Charity,he cannot foresee a future with her. Kind relatives and friends provide advice and a listening ear, but the young adults must rely on God to show them their future paths.

Although this is a highly predictable novel, there are enough twists and turns to keep readers interested. The author includes details of Amish life and culture for the benefit of readers who are new to the genre of Amish fiction novels. The final outcomes of the novel provide a thoughtful set up for the next book in the series, although the stories can be read as standalones.

I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

I was excited to read this book after reading Foundation of Love, which is the first in this series. In Foundation of Love we meet Duane and his 3 sons, and we get to see Duane fall in love. Building a Future focuses on Tyler, Korey, and Michelle. Tyler and Korey are the oldest of the 3 boys, and always seem to butt heads. Tylers’ focus has always been on the business, and how to grow it to provide even better for their family. Korey is more selfish, and has had an attitude ever since his father remarried. Tyler is quick to call him out on it, wanting Korey to see how he’s acting, but it just seems to cause more problems between the two. When Tyler and Michelle become friends, it’s on Koreys’ last nerve.

Watching all of her friends get engaged and married is making Michelle restless. Her and Korey have been together forever, and she feels like any day it will be her turn. But lately Korey has seemed distant. Is she pushing towards something that she feels like she deserves, rather than something she really wants? Relationships are tricky, especially in such a small community. Will Michelle find who she is meant to be with? Or settle for second best? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction. The Amish genre is always a delight to get to escape to. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to see what happens in the next one. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan Publishers, and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was an enjoyable read! I thought the leads of Michelle and especially Tyler were very well written. Tyler in particular was such a solid romantic lead (honestly, kind of swoon worthy) and you could totally understand why Michelle was drawn to him and vice-versa. I think the themes of friendship and love and being honest with yourself and knowing when to let go were definitely relatable. Good pacing and a fast, entertaining, heartwarming read. My only issue would be that sometimes the phrases the main characters said seemed a little too modern English and not Amish. I had to stop and thinking, "Would an Amish person really say that?" But granted I have never really be around the Amish community, but I have read alot of books in this genre. I really did enjoy this book and look forward to the next in this series! Thank you for the ARC, NetGalley & Zondervan Fiction!

This is a wonderful faith filled story that hooks you on the first page. It has just the right amount of drama and emotions to keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. Even though this is the second book of the series it can be read as a stand alone. Great addition to the series and I look forward to the next one.

I simply love this series and don’t know how I am going to wait so long for book three to come out! If you haven’t read book one, Foundation of Love, you can still enjoy this story. However, book one is such a good book and sets the stage for Korey and Tyler’s dad’s marriage.

Having read the first book, I knew how badly Korey had begun behaving towards his stepmother. That very childish and basically, bratty, behavior continued in this story. I was bewildered as to why his father allowed him to show such disrespect. I also felt that Korey was given chance after chance to make up for the many times his actions emotionally hurt his girlfriend, Michelle. I am hoping that by the time Korey gets his own book, he will have matured a lot. It could be a wonderful redemption story!

Tyler was a great character who I couldn’t help but like. Both he and Michelle did begin to care for each other, unbeknownst to each other, and they both walked a thin line while they tried to force their feelings to match who they were currently dating. I really enjoyed the way things played out in the latter half of the novel, as feelings ramped up and decisions had to be made.

Michelle Lantz has been dating Korey Bontrager for over a year and she dreams of the day she marries him. But, he still hasn't proposed or even hinted about wanting to take their relationship further. In fact, he seems to be becoming more and more distant and she's not sure what to do about it. At this point, though, Michelle feels like she's already put enough time into the relationship that she doesn't want to give up now. There's also the fact that she and Korey have been friends since childhood and she'd hate for anything to hurt that. She has also been good friends with Korey's brothers, especially his brother, Tyler. Lately, though, her friendship with Tyler seems to be growing stronger and Michelle is finding herself wondering how deep her feelings for him truly go. Tyler and Korey seem to butt heads regularly. They disagree on a lot of things, but especially on how Korey is treating their new stepmother. Tyler is also focused on expanding his father's roofing company and hopes to take over one day. He hopes that both he and Korey can run the family business one day, but Korey sees it as one more way that Tyler is trying to push him out of the way. Tyler also doesn't approve of how Korey is treating Michelle and Korey is taking this as his brother trying to take what's his. Tyler tries to end his friendship with Michelle to save his relationship with his brother, but when there's an accident and Michelle is in actual danger, Tyler's true feelings show loud and clear. Can Michelle and Tyler put their feelings aside to save their relationships with Korey?

Wow, I loved reading more about the Bontrager family. I loved getting updates about Crystal and Duane. Tyler is definitely one of my favorite characters in this series and it was good to see him taking more of a role in the family business and in the family. At the same time, my heart hurt for Korey. He is still struggling so much with the loss of his mother and feeling like she was replaced and with his relationship with his brothers. He is in a difficult place in his relationship with Michelle and didn't know how to fix things. There is just so much that's relatable about Korey. I am very much looking forward to reading his story in the next book. I truly love how Amy Clipston writes such believable characters and scenarios that we can all relate to. This may possibly be my favorite series of hers though.

Second in the Amish Legacy series, Building a Future brings us Korey and Michelle's story. Dating for over a year, Michelle is ready to take the relationship further. However, Korey doesn't seem to be in any hurry. In fact he seems more distant and inattentive. Has she done something to hurt him? When her friendship with his brother Tyler seems to be moving in another direction, will Michelle be able to decide? I love this story in that we get to visit with loved characters. It brings to light jealously, loss, rivalry, and blossoming love. It was sad to see Korey struggling so much. Hoping in the next in the series, he is able to let go and find forgiveness and love. I received a copy through Netgalley, A review was not required.

This is a Clean Amish Romance, and this is the second book in An Amish Legacy series. I was pulled into this story super quick, but I found I really did not like the fact the two main characters were really emotionally cheating. I liked the two main characters, but I really did not like Korey's character. I felt Korey really just needed to grow up and act his age. I did not understand why his father did not have a big heart to heart with him. I also did not like how the step mother was treated. The things I had a problem with in this book is personal to me and not because the book was not written well. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zondervan) or author (Amy Clipson) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Pleasant and Enjoyable
Sometimes, a story takes me on such an emotional roller coaster that I feel I might end up saying too much and giving it all away. Such is the case with Building a Future. Yes, it took me on an emotional roller coaster, but that tugged me right into a connection with the characters which made me enjoy the story that much more.
I felt for Michelle who had been dating Korey for over a year, and yet he failed to commit in moving toward the next step, marriage. I also felt for Korey. Although he was not my favorite and definitely needed to grow up, but he also was in a tough spot with how to communicate his true feelings with Michelle. Enter Tyler, my favorite character. He wanted to do the right thing by his family, Michelle, and his plans for his future, which was not an easy place to be. Through it all, there were family issues to contend with as well as how to be true to their hearts and following God's will for their lives. This combination makes Building a Future a very pleasant and enjoyable read.

This is everything you would want in an Amish book and more! “Building A Future” is the second book in the Amish Legacy series by Amy Clipston. This book follows the story of Duane’s sons, Korey and Tyler. Korey and Michelle have been dating for over a year, but Korey isn’t ready to get engaged. Michelle is frustrated by Korey’s behavior and becomes friendly with Tyler. However, Tyler is dating Michelle’s friend, Charity. So instead of a love triangle, we have a love rectangle.
If you like Amish books that are different, then this book is for you. I would recommend reading the books in order. I loved the first book in the series and the second is just as good! Amy Clipston does an amazing job of bringing to life real characters with serious problems. I want to thank the author, Zondervan Publishing and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This was an enjoyable book from the author. It showed characters that needed to grow up a little more in their personal relationships, Korey, especially. As Korey and Michelle's relationship continues, they are lacking the communication that they once had. Michelle finds a good friend in Korey's brother and so there are jealousies and issues that start to appear.

The book is engaging and keeps your attention, although some characters are not always so easy to like, but all in all I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more of the author's writings.

I received a complimentary ebook from NetGalley and was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Michelle and Korey have been courting for a year. Will he ever pop the question? She must be a patient woman! Love is in the air, the girls are giggling, and the men are putting an addition onto the family home. Everyone is busy.

Tyler and his brother are trying to get their dad to add to the family business. The boys each want their own crew. Dad is not happy about that because they fight with each other. Family always seem to compete with each other.

I felt Michelle was too laid back with Korey. A year and no proposal, oh my! Don't worry ladies, it will all work out the way it is supposed to. Enjoy!

Building a Future by Amy Clipston is a heartwarming Amish novel. I like Amy Clipston’s writing style. It is casual and engaging. I feel like I am visiting old friends. I found myself easily drawn into the story. I like the characters in this story especially Michelle and Tyler. I was not a fan of Korey who was inattentive to Michelle and did not realize that she is a caring woman with a big heart. Korey came across as juvenile. His behavior reminded me of a sulky teenager. I was surprised that his father let him get away with that type of behavior. Korey states he wants to help run the business with Tyler when their father retires. However, we do not see him coming up with business ideas or displaying the maturity needed for a leadership position. We get to see what it is like to be ignored by someone we care about and the pain that it causes. I enjoyed the lovely descriptions of Michelle’s paintings. I want one of her milk can scenes. I was surprised when one scene mentions Michelle putting the milk can in her tote bag. I did not know that milk cans came in such a small size (there are vintage milk cans that measure 3.5” by 6.25”). I thought the relationship between Tyler and Michelle progressed at the right pace. I could see this scenario playing out in real life. I like how the faith element was incorporated into the story (the author strikes the right balance). It never comes across as preachy. There are good messages (and life lessons) in the story. We see the importance of prayer to seek God’s guidance. The story had a sweet ending. Building a Future is the second An Amish Legacy Novel. It can be read as a standalone for those who have not read Foundation of Love. I like that we get to see how Crystal is faring since she married. There is a glossary of Amish terms at the beginning of the book which I found helpful. Building a Future is a hopeful Amish tale with relationship woes, finding a friend, enjoyable youth gatherings, roofing business strategies, and a guiding God.
