I love Kiersten Modglin, but this was not one of my favorites. I didn't connect with anyone and the storyline didn't grab me. I'm glad I listened to the audio though. The narrator was great and helped me get through the book.

Please note that this is strictly my opinion of this particular book. I will definitely endorse Kiersten Modglin and urge you to try this one for yourself. This might be the book YOU are looking for.

This thriller certainly has its fair share of twists and turns. I did have trouble connecting to the characters, and I wonder if it had to do with the narrator's choices in terms of inflection and intonation. It felt a little farcical. The story was intense and serious, but sometimes the tone of the narration was less than intense. I enjoyed this book while I was listening to it, but it isn't a story that gave me much to think about after the fact or really stayed with me.

I enjoyed this twisty thriller! A very pleasant distraction from the tedium of the day. The excellent narration by Linda Jones kept me hooked.

I'm in love with Keirston Modglin. I have purchased several of her books, This one was not a let down. I love that she writes so out of the box and you really don't know what to expect. She writes like you think you know what is going to happen and nope she does something completely from left field. I enjoy her immensely, unpredictable.

This was a quick, fun thriller. There was a lot of story packed into a fairly short book, at just under 300 pages.

It was twist upon twist, and I fully enjoyed it. Was able to finish all in one sitting and was enthralled by the story the entire time.

I loved how it all came together. I forgot how much I loved Modglin's writing and will have to finish up her backlog.

This was my first read by the author and has left me intrigued to read more of her thrillers. I enjoyed the complicated dynamics between the characters and it kept me guessing throughout the entire book. I did not see the twist at the end coming from 1,000,000 miles away. To me that is what makes it a worthwhile thriller.

I was excited to check out this book as I've heard great things about the author. As someone who lives in a tight-knit little circle of a neighborhood, the premise of this story was terrifying. I was intrigued by the story of the Fallen Oaks Five and hoped to connect with their stories as their futures unfolded. I enjoyed the narrator and was entertained by the story but I didn't feel much connection with the characters, or love the way it all came together. While this story wasn't my favorite, I'll definitely check out other books by the author.

This book was definitely good even though I was expecting something quite a bit different. I think I just wanted a little bit more but I think that’s just a me thing because you do get a complete story here and it’s a good one.
Five years ago, those who lived in the Gerbera subdivision of a little town called Fallen Oaks were horrendously slaughtered in their beds. There were just five survivors, The Fallen Oak Five, were all children. They were near strangers at the time but after witnessing such a gruesome event are forever linked.
Now they are all grown up and the anniversary of the death of their families is quickly approaching. The Fallen Oak Five all receive warning letters that state that the killer is still out there and they aren’t finished with these survivors.
Now they are in a race against the clock as the murders remain nameless and faceless as the group feels they must return to their old homes in order to figure out together what lead to the events that took place on the worst night of their lives.
There are secrets everywhere and everyone is a suspect. They either need to solve the long lost secret or share the same fate as their families all those years ago.
This was a good story and one that I think a lot of people will really like. It has very good characters, a great plot, and it’s one that you should probably read for yourself because you don’t want to skip over it.
I had the chance to listen to a copy of the audio book, provided by NetGalley for an honest review, and I think that if you get the chance to listen to it then you’ll like it even more. The narrator is absolutely fantastic and really brings the story to life. Highly recommend it!

The synopsis to me reads like a standard yet solid type of thriller. The brutal murders of several people within one terrible night half a decade ago and the survivors of that tragic night, trying to live their fractures lives until the letters come. They return to their hometown to put this unsolved mystery to rest once and for all.

Kierten Modglin is a favorite author of mine. She can put out book after book and they are all so different but so so good. This was my first audiobook and I will. say it did not grab me as her other books have. Not to say this is a bad book by ANY means, I just found it to be a little slower and average than some of her others. This was an audiobook edition and perhaps some reader distraction could also be blamed for why this book was just OK to me. I would still recommend this book/audiobook as it is very well-written and the author is a genuine delight.

This was such an interesting plot. 5 years ago all the families at the Gerbera housing development are murdered. All except for 5 survivors. When the survivors all get notes 5 years later they reunite and head back to Fallen Oaks to find out what really happened to their parents. I thought I knew who did it but the story took a twisty turn! I loved it

This is a twisty suspense thriller with a hint of magical realism that grabs you in the beginning and doesn't let go. The characters are well-developed and diverse and I enjoyed discovering their relationships with one another. The town is creepy and I didn't want them to go back to it, but that's how the story goes. I did want answers though and they were provided in a way I didn't expect.

I was gripped right from the start with this story. The narration for this book was well done. The suspense with the twists and turns was constant throughout the book. Definitely worth the read and I would recommend to others.
Thanks NetGalley for the audio eARC.

At first, the novel gave the vibes of a dystopia, but no it is not!

Five years ago, all the residents of Gerbera subdivision in a small town were murdered except for five children, who escaped the brutal massacre. The case was never solved and the murderers vanished.
When the five year anniversary was days away, the survivors received a letter, a threat that murderers are back to finish the work.

The story was good. But how a mass murder in a small town was unsolved and the local poli e turned a blind eye to it, is a mystery to me no matter what!
Nonetheless, I liked the story and enjoyed the audiobook.

Unfortunately this story just wasn’t for me. I never felt connected to the characters and just wanted to get to the end. The narration was well done and helped me greatly to push through. I have read other Kiersten Modglin books that I have enjoyed, but this one missed the mark for me. With that being said , I am still interested in reading more from this author. Thank you NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio for my audiobook.

Twisty read! I always enjoy Kiersten's writing and felt this was great.

I did think the narration did have the characters sounding older than they were but just kept reminding myself they were young.

Wow! What a story line.
The twists and turns kept coming and I had no idea what way this story would end! If you are needing a crazy story to keep your mind busy then this is a perfect read/listen!

We follow 5 survivors of a horrific tragedy as they search for answers. On this wild goose chase they get more questions than answers. When the pieces start to fall together the survivors are in for the huge shock.

I also really loved how the author discussed mental health and getting help in this book! The more we normalize discussions about this the more people will seek help!

The audio version of this book was amazing!

Thank you to NetGalley and OrangeSky audio for an audio ARC to listen and review.

This was my first book by Kiersten Modglin, who I am constantly seeing buzz about on social media, so I was excited to receive an advance copy. But honestly, this was a disappointment. The story was far fetched and there were tons of plot holes that are never explained. It did not reach a satisfying conclusion for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio for this ARC.

How do I put this? KMOD is quite literally the QUEEN of thrillers. Every single thing she has written I have absolutely loved. I keep wanting more Kmod. This however was the first audiobook of hers I have listened to and plan to listen to more!
