I adore unique fiction, and this is such an interesting premise. I recommend because of the story itself, writing style, and its ability to transport you into a different world.

This is just the perfect charming summer book that so many readers are hoping to find! The setting, the characters, the gentle romance, the family history -- it all comes together in a very engaging story. Great cover too. I look forward to recommending this to readers.

"One Lucky Summer" is a novel about a group of people that return to their previous home to try to solve what amounts to a treasure hunt. The group is made up of a pair of sisters, the "boy next door" from their past, the young and precocious daughter that he is just getting to know, and the semi-mysterious police officer co-worker of the younger sister. Taken at face value the premise sounds a little trite and simple, but the characters bring depth to their current situation, by dealing with their pasts. Relationships that would seem to be easy are not, and ones that you think would never get resolved are handled in ways that make sense. My only issue is that the characters are so complex that sometimes it felt as if I were reading a second book in a series. I wanted to know the characters more. Overall, a good read,

I received an ARC, of One Lucky Summer by, Jenny Oliver. I found this book to be quite boring. The characters were blah.

This was a fun feel good story with likeable characters, and who doesn't enjoy a treasure hunt around a huge estate by the sea? I'll be looking for more novels by Jenny Oliver.
