Ah the perfect book to describe all the things your dog really is. From a security system to a vacuum! Dogs really are the best for so many reasons and this book is a celebration of those reasons!

Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review this title.

I love children's literature and this book did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the relationship shared between the young girl and her dog in this picture book. Great story and the illustrations were very well done and colorful. Also, the story was just the right length for story times and children to sit through and not be overwhelming to them.

Great story!

Review to come in 3 weeks on my blog and later on Amazon/Goodreads.

I received this adorable book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I just couldn't resist this adorable looking book on Netgalley. I was curious to see what the girl had if she didn't have a dog. XD Plus, I am in the mood to reading all the dog books because I am just not having any luck with getting a dog from the shelter.

In this adorable book we see a little girl and her friendly companion, a white and orange spotted dog. Who is indeed doing a lot more than just being a dog! I had a laugh seeing him clean the dishes along with the girl (eww and also aww), see him rip apart some yummy homework (haha, perfect), he is her fanclub (which was just adorable), and he is many other things. I just found myself looking forward to each new page and see what the dog was doing. What the dog was now. It was both adorable (yes, you will see this word a lot in this review) and hilarious. The bond between these two is just so strong and I love love loved it.

I also had a big laugh at the little brother the girl had. Yep, there is more to check out in this book. Like see what the little brother is doing. Like throwing eggs on the floor. XD

And that ending, sorry I am just a big sap for that sort of stuff, but I was just crying. It was just so sweet and cute and the perfect way to end this adorable and fun book.

The art was tons of fun, yes, perspectives may have been better at times, but the art still brought a smile on my face and I love the colours used.

All in all, if you need a book that will make you laugh and cry, be sure to try out this one!

Soft, playful illustrations about the special place our furry friends have in families. This book is perfect for older preschoolers. It is simple text, but more abstract concepts. I can already see kids giggling over the silly things their own pets do. A good addition to any library that serves young readers.

This book is absolutely gorgeous! A heartwarming look at the impact that our pets have in our lives, with beautiful illustrations and a simple message that kept my 6 year old engaged throughout.

Oh, my gosh! The illustrations in this book are so darling. I have dogs. One of them likes to hold hands and give hugs. The other one kills mice and gives kisses. And all of these things are absolutely true about both of them. Especially the very last line.

Cute picture book with bright colorful illustrations. A girl talks about her dog and all the roles it plays in her life. A dog can be a friend, vacuum cleaner, guard etc. It will delight any pet love, (especially dog households). Easy to read with illustrations for each point. For younger readers K-3 or to be read to kiddos younger than school aged. Thank you to NetGalley and Sasquatch Books for an temporary eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Simple and sweet and oh so resonant to animal lovers everywhere, if books could sing, this picture book would be an opera.

Pure magic, from cover to cover, this little book is big on heart and so endearing I had to read it through several times.

Gorgeously illustrated, the story begins as our main protagonist, an unnamed little girl, tells us about her scruffy little terrier, who is so much more than a dog, that it takes her many pages to fill us in on all the roles he plays in her life.

Ending with a big dollop of love, a scratch behind the ears, and a most necessary giant hug for her little furry bundle, who is, of course, in his final and starring role, her very best friend.

I loved this little gem. So much so, in fact, that I may find myself reading it out loud to my little furry best friends this very night.

A great big thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of this wonderful book. All thoughts presented are my own.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Sasquatch Books/Little Bigfoot for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's book. What a cute, fun book. Nice illustrations Showing how owning a pet can be so rewarding. Not a dog-a friend. I think most kids would love this book. 4 stars

A very touching picture book for kids, "I Don't Have a Dog" is the soulful rants of a small child who happens to lack for nothing but a small dog. The child keeps ranting on how there is materialism is rampant all around him but the one thing which he desperately seeks, the love of and for a dog is sorely missing. Comic yet touching, the book makes the reader, laugh, smile, reminisce and even in all probability, head to a nearest pet shop or an abandoned pet rescue centre and buy an adorable puppy!

("I Don't Have a Dog by Contessa Hileman is published by Sasquatch Books, Little Bigfoot and will be available on sale from the 1st of February, 2022)

Thank you Net Galley for the Advance Reviewer Copy

This is all kinds of precious!
I absolutely adore this story. It shows just how dogs aren't pets - they're best friends. They're fun, amazing companions for any age, and I love that.
The artwork is beautifully done as well, and I think many kids will get a lot of enjoyment out of this!
An absolute must have!

I read this book with my four-year-old daughter and she loved it!

The illustrations in the book are lovely and they really suited the story.

It was well written and easy to follow, I read it with my daughter at bedtime last night and she enjoyed it from start to finish – perfect read for her and she is right in the target age range for the book.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, a wonderful book that we both really enjoyed – very highly recommended!

Cute little book for cute little dog-owners, this shows a girl and her mutt that is a floor-cleaner, a food waste disposal unit, and lots more. Only guaranteed to shift the pester power of the dogless into a higher gear, if you have a canine in the household this is fine.

We are a cat family but we enjoyed this cute picture book nevertheless. The situations are funny and witty, and the illustrations are really nice. I had a hard time explaining some of the concepts like surveillance system to my 3.5-year-old daughter so maybe this book is more suitable for bigger children.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Sasquatch Books for an Advance Review Copy.

A young girl explains that she doesn't have a dog--she has a security system, garbage disposal, and best friend! This is such a sweet, loving ode to all the wonderful things about dogs and all the joy they bring us. It's also a great beginning lesson in metaphors and expressive language.

The illustrations are soft but full of action and detail. Pre-K and early elementary kids will love reading about dogs and all the fun they can be. The text is simple and has a repeated refrain of "I don't have a dog" which would make this a good confidence-builder for newly independent readers. This would definitely be a hit in the classroom and library!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
