As someone who grew up in an evangelical church, this book hit close to home. I have spent the past decade struggling with my faith. Even tho I haven't struggled with drug addition I could empathize with Matt. This book is beautifully written and I think could help a lot of people not only suffering from addition, but coming to terms with their faith.

This book was an absolute pleasure to read. Anything by Matt Rowland Hill is actually. I highly recommend this book.

I’ve read many memoirs or drug addiction and often find them gripping and fascinating. This book started powerfully: shooting up in the bathroom at the funeral of a friend. I was interested in reading about his strict, non-compromising religious background and how it may have played a role in his falling into addiction. As the author delved into the background and his struggle as a teen with puberty and his belief in God, I did find myself become a little disengaged from the story as it perhaps went on too long than what was of interest to the reader. Then it arrived at the time he first did heroin as a student, where my interest did pique again, although I couldn’t gather my initial investment in the story. I don’t think the writing style was for me. 3.5 stars.
