Do you follow? it's a thriller novel about Alexa, a twenty two year old woman who recently has moved to New York. It's the first time she will be living alone, but her exciment ends when her twin Beth enters her life once again.

When I saw the description of the book I knew I had to read it and I was right.

The book starts with Alexa, a vibrant young woman, who it's currently moving to NY for work. She has entered to one of the best marketing agencies and it's living alone for the first time in her life. But her happiness seems to be crushed the moment her twin sister Beth knocks her door again. Alexa, not following the recomendation of her therapist and father, starts to have a sibling relationship with Beth and a loving relationship with Kurt, a man that she met in the center where she goes to therapy and new client of the agencie. Alexa it's a great character. She has a lot of faces and secrets that sometimes made me uncomfortable, but in a cool way, and sometimes made me sympathize with her as her position as a sister.

Beth, on the other hand, made me wonder all the time what was happening. She is rude and temperamental while Alexa seems calm and nice. They both make a good contrast because they both are very different from eachother, even though they look the same on the exterior.

The writting it's very light. I listend to the audiobook and although I was falling asleep I needed to keep with it to know what was going to happen. The crazy thing about this book it's that there are little hints of the plot twist but it surprised me anyway. I was always asking myself "Am I going right with this theory?" which I think it's perfect for this kind of story. It also helped a lot that it's very current because it made me feel more in touch with the characters and their surroundings.

To sum up, for thrillers fans, not only readers but tv suckers, this exciting story it's perfect.

About halfway through I figured out a big twist but was still interesting in finding out what else was going on. I’m glad I kept reading because I did not see some other ones coming! My main problem with this book is during the trial the prosecution called the defendant as their first witness - this isn’t how the court system works and annoyed me so much. It might seem nit-picky but it wasn’t the only issue with the court parts and anyone who watches Law & Order knows how this works. Either way, this was a unique read that moved quickly.

This book was very confusing.

Listening on audio, I had a hard time figuring out who's narrative was being told. The New York setting felt stale and overall this book was really underwhelming to me.

Alexa lives with her father in the suburbs of NYC. When she gets a new job as a social media manager at a popular company in New York, she moves to begin her new life.

But her twin sister, Beth, who is in a mental facility joins her in her new apartment and Alexa's life is upended. All the secrets Alexa has been keeping from others threaten to spill out. What will she do to keep her secrets safe?

The story is told from Alexa and Beth's POV and some chapters are from Dr. Greer's POV as well. Between them, the narrative is taut and compelling. I couldn't wait to listen to what happened next. And when the twist came, my mind was blown.

I listened to the audiobook and loved the narrator, Marnye Young. She does a great job of separating different characters, even though the main characters are twins.

4 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Alexa finally gains her long-awaited freedom after getting a job in New York City and finally getting to live in her own apartment. But it doesn't take long for her past to catch up to her. Her twin sister Beth shows up at her door, throwing a gigantic wrench in Alexa's plan. Alexa finds herself on trial for her boyfriend's death but keeps on insisting Beth did it.

The backdrop for "Do You Follow?" is compelling in a tragic way, even if the plot twists were a little predictable. Early on, the reader realizes that Alexa is an unreliable narrator, which is where I think this novel mostly falls short.

Overall, this was a unique spin on a common thriller trope and an interesting exploration of the unreliability of a person's reality. The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life.

A smart twisty thriller for fans of Ruth Ware and Alice Feeny. It is rare to see conjoined twins as the main characters of a book and I LIKE IT! Although I know that Alexa had some issues by the way that she reacted to events, I had no idea how many or how Beth would appear in the store.

This is the story of twin sisters, the battle of mental illness, and the destructive properties of social media. Alexa lives a sheltered life, with a dark secret that she must protect at all costs. But wanting to be a normal girl she takes a marketing job for an elite company in New York City, much to the chagrin of her overprotective father and her therapist. Without warning her twin sister Beth resurfaces, after being gone for over a year. This puts a damper on the new relationship Alexa has with one of her new clients. Beth doesn't trust the new boyfriend and she starts digging into his past. It's a bit of a hot mess, but has a few interesting twists that did shock me. At times the storyline seemed a tad unbelievable, but it was still an enjoyable read.

4.5⭐

This audiobook book was amazing and kept me involved from the very first chapter. Alexa and Beth are twin sisters who have been through many tragedies, including mental illness. Alexa wants to break free from her past with a fresh start in the city with a new job and a new-to-her apartment. But things quickly go array when her troubled twin sister, Beth shows up on her door step unexpectedly.

The sisters love each other, but know that their relationship is strained due to their pasts and the secrets they hold from the world. This thriller has a lot of twists and turns that are unexpected and will shock you.

I more than loved this book! It was intriguing, kept me on my toes and surprised me in more ways than one. I thought the author handled Alexa and Beth's mental illnesses well and was thorough in explaining why they were the way they were. I also liked how the story wrapped up!

I really, really tried to push through with this novel but I ended up deciding to put it on my DNF shelf at the 79% mark. While I thought the audiobook narrator did a great job I just really could not stand ANY of the characters in the book and the plot twist towards the end was not written in a smooth and believable way. For the first 65% of this book I felt like I was reading a romance novel instead of a mystery/thriller book. By the time I got to the main twist I really didn't even want to continue on with the last 20%.

I see by the reviews that people out there are enjoying, this book was just not for me.

Thank you to Greenleaf Book Group and NetGalley for allowing me to read and early copy of this book!

DO YOU FOLLOW is a psychological thriller debut that follows twin sisters who share a secret past, after one of those sisters starts her life over in NYC.

My review does contain spoilers.

I was with this book from the beginning. The plot is intriguing, the pacing is done very well, and it started off on a promising foot.

However, I had major issues with the "twist" in this novel. I'm more than okay with "~she's been dead the whole time~" twists in books when they feel earned or executed well. This book does neither of those things.

Furthermore, this book makes an egregious attempt at turning a real mental health diagnosis into a dramatic plot twist and I'm not about that. It's absolutely irresponsible.

There are also certain things that don't go anywhere (a whole storyline with the mom? the diary?) and I'm not sure why they're even there.

A more surface level complaint: I'm fine with pop culture references in books, and I'm fine with current events being included, but allll of the COVID-19 pandemic references were just too much for me.

That said, the positives... The book is engaging, and did keep me reading until the end (bc I did have to know what tf was going on, just not for the Right Reasons).

Bidonde has an enjoyable writing style, and I do look forward to their future work... I just hope to see less of this "mental illness for shock value" then.

On another note, I also listened to the book on audio and absolutely loved the narrator. 5 stars to the narrator.

While the plot initially hooked me, it was not as captivating, in my opinion, as my brain hyped it up to be. I am a mood reader at times, so maybe it just wasn't the right mood for me at the time.

I flew through this one in a day, it was an engaging read that grabbed my attention from the start! I always enjoy a psychological thriller about twins but the main twist in this kept me second guessing myself which made it even more of an enjoyable read. I liked the alternating POV’s between Alexa and Beth, the building tension between the two made for a number of well delivered twists that took place at just the right time. I’ll be honest, the ending did surprise me a bit but wrapped the story up without leaving a number of loose ends or plot holes.
If you’re looking for a fast paced, twin trope Psychological Thriller that also touches on the parallels of mental health and social media - I recommend this book! A rather impressive debut novel from J.C. Bidonde!

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to review this title. I thought it was a well written, suspenseful story. I really enjoyed it and recommend it.

This book was amazing! It was incredibly suspenseful. Just when I thought that the twist was done it gave about 4 more twists and I was constantly on my toes. I also loved that it gave readers a little information about mental health and showed how little people know about it. I will absolutely be recommending this book to everyone I know. Another thing I liked was the narrator, the voice fit perfectly, in my opinion. As soon as I’m finished with this review, I’m going to look into more books by this author.

Do You Follow is the story of Alexa, fresh New York transplant with a new apartment, new job, new boyfriend, and a possible evil twin Beth. They share the same face, therapist, and deep dark secrets.
The story opens at the police station with Alexa being interviewed about and accused of the murder of her boyfriend Curt. She swears it wasn't her, but instead her identical twin Beth. We get duel point of views, both Beth and Alexa, as well as a present timeline and peeks into the past. I really like the premise but this book was just too wordy for me. I tend to prefer less meaningless description and more in depth growth or build up. Thank you to Greenleaf Book Group and NetGalley for an audiobook in exchange for my honest review. I enjoyed the narrator. 3 stars.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This was a decent thriller. Maybe it's because I've read a lot of thrillers, I didn't find the big twist to be that shocking. I think I had figured it out a quarter of the way through the book.

The post-pandemic books have started coming at us. Are we post-pandemic yet? I don't know, it just seems like a never-ending fever dream.

We have authors who are writing about life with the pandemic as the setting, and we have writers who are writing because they perhaps have always wanted to write, and with the pandemic, they now have time on their hands.

Whatever the reason, I don't mind, if books like this are the result. It is the author's debut novel from what I can tell, and not a bad attempt at all.

I find books about mental illness fascinating and this one is no exception.

Alexa and Beth are twins, and when they are just little girls, something happens (they refer to it as 'the incident') that separates them, and Alexa is put in a psychiatric facility.

When she gets out, she gets a job in New York and moves out of her small town to live on her own. Her father and doctor are sceptical at first (her mother having committed suicide when she was a child) but then they agree because she seems confident that she can handle it. She has not seen her sister, Beth, for years, since they were little, but they share an extricable bond.

The day that she moves into her apartment, Beth finds her and asks her if she can crash at her place. Beth has always been the more domineering of the two, so she cannot refuse her. While Alexa goes to work, Beth stays at home and watches TV. Alexa loves her new job, and meets, a new client, and they start a clandestine romance. Beth is not too happy, since she doesn't trust him, and keeps trying to unearth stuff about him, which she does, but Alexa is undeterred by whatever she digs up about him.

She's madly in love, but then, Beth realises that he has uncovered their secret in Alexa's secret diary and may use that to hurt Alexa, so she murders him with a gun that Alexa has hidden for her protection. But then, Beth disappears, and Alexa is arrested for his murder.

All the evidence points to Alexa as the murderer, but she insists that Beth is the culprit. Will the doctor and Alexa's lawyer be able to prove that she's innocent, based on all the overwhelming evidence against her?

This was a gripping read, and I honestly did not see that twist coming. I probably should have, now that I look back, but I did not. I kept visualising Margot Robbie as Beth and I was entirely engrossed in the plot.

There were a few plot holes, quite BIG ones, but overall I enjoyed it and gave it a solid four stars. I would read further novels by this author. Anyone who liked 'We'll Never Be Apart' by Emiko Jean and 'I'm Thinking Of Ending Things' by Iain Reid will like this book too, I think.

Quick and to the point this thriller was a nice surprise. A young woman starting out on her own in NYC and her troubled twin sister shows up. She had it all a new job, a place of her own and a boyfriend. Will she make it on her own or will the biggest twist stop her before she can find out.

Tune in thriller fans, this was a well written psychological thriller that had you guessing what was going to happen next. Yet short even that you didn't feel it dragged on for pages. Narrator did a good job and made me feel like part of the story. Recommended for fans of psychological thrillers , mysteries and one of those unreliable narrators.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(4 stars)

My thoughts: this was a super quick and very entertaining read/listen. I kind of saw the plot twist coming fairly early on (having read similar books previously), but what kept me hooked was the timeliness of this particular story.

I can’t say much more without giving too much away, but this is definitely one that I would recommend to a friend.
