Cataclysm by Susanna Strom is book four, Bear’s story, in her World Fallen series.

Forming a lasting relationship is going to be difficult for Bear and Nyx, because Bear wants something real, but Nyx only wants a lay.

This installment of Susanna Strom’s World Fallen series maintains the series continuity and reads well as a standalone. The story is again revealed through the alternating viewpoints of the major characters, now including the bad guys, with appropriate chapter headers in order to avoid confusing the reader. The action and details are not quite as drawn out this time, which makes for a fresher read. I found the plot especially compelling. The characters, new and old, are well-rounded with complete backstories. Cataclysm is a 4 out of 5 star read that I recommend to all readers of apocalyptic sci-fi thrillers, especially with romance.

My thanks to Independent Publishers Group, Cougar Creek Publishing LLC, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

ARC provided by NetGalley for an honest review. This is not my normal read and I was not sure how I would feel about the storyline featuring a deadly pandemic but Susanna Strom made it work.

This was an easy weekend read or would make a steamy beach read. It was fairly simple and straightforward as an action romance set in post apocalyptic times. After a virus decimates the world, Nyx and Bear find each other but they are polar opposites. They are both strong characters in their own way and there is plenty of danger to face, challenges to overcome and good steam too. I definitely enjoyed it, but wasn’t totally blown away by it, hence 3.5 stars. It was worth reading though and I would continue reading the other books in the series. Fans of post-apocalyptic romance will really like this one.

I have really enjoyed all of this series, and Cataclysm did not disappoint. It seems odd to me that I would love a series about a deadly pandemic while we are living through a deadly pandemic, but somehow it really works. I absolutely love the characters in this series. There really isn't a weak one among them in my opinion. They all have depth and an interesting background that keeps me coming back for more as each new book is released. I can't wait for each character to get their own time to shine. I also really love that each book has fit really well together, is leading up to something bigger, but still has managed to not be just a cookie cutter repeat of the same storyline over and over. I will absolutely devour anything that Susanna Strom writes and can't wait for the next one.

When you need a distraction from the doom and gloom of a pandemic, immerse yourself in the dystopian aftermath of another illness, LOL.

We're back at Valhalla as our little community of survivors and allies are getting on with life. But danger isn't far away and before they know it they are up to their necks in danger again. Allsop is still on the loose and he's making allies - they really do not need him to get more powerful!

Bear is just on the right side of possessive - he's not about to take the crumbs that Nyx is offering - he wants the whole cake. His reactions when Nyx has to go undercover with him and Ripper is great.
Nyx is a brilliant blend of fiesty/flighty and scared. She'll brave anything pretty much, as long as it's on her terms and her heart isn't involved.

Ripper is still my fave, even though he is a former MC member (something I don't actually like reading) but he just gets under the skin. I loved being able to see the other couples and supporting characters and meeting new ones. There are a couple of new entanglements hinted at.

A wonderful addition to the story and can't wait to find out what happens next!

Cataclysm by Susanna Strom is a very interesting and enjoyable story. Although this is the fourth book in the World Fallen series, I was able to read it as a standalone book once I was familiar with all the characters. This was Bear and Nyx’s story, and they both had to overcome many issues. The characters and storyline are well developed and well written. This was an interesting story about a pandemic that has killed an extreme amount of the population, and how the survivors are rebuilding the post pandemic life. I recommend this story as it was well written and very interesting with the storyline.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with the ARC for my honest review.

I'm going to be frank and say that in the midst of a pandemic a series charting the devastating effects of something similar shouldn't be so entertaining but boy has this author delivered ! What started out as a few people struggling just to survive without everything we take for granted has transformed into a believable action fuelled series chartered by the characters who not only have survived but are learning to thrive.
I guess everyone reading this has a favourite character (Ripper anyone ?) and this time it's rancher Bear who surprises as he begins to woo the feisty, tattooed Nyx. She definitely has secrets and genuine reasons to keep him at a distance but Bear is a cowboy with tenacity and clearly a plan ! Its just to bad that they are undercover trying to find a weapons cache whilst Nyx is pretending to be Rippers main squeeze ! What could possibly go wrong ? Yep you've guessed it this passionate couple just can't quite keep their eyes or indeed hands off each other and that will definitely give the game away or will it ?
I was quite surprised by Bear but obviously won't spoil his surprise. Nyx I could understand and had a fair inkling of roughly what might have shaped her. The best thing though is the overall journey of these characters as they go from just forming alliance's and friendships to by the time this story ends they have become a true family. Yes its a series about adversity and overcoming danger but it's full of excitement, heart and most of all hope.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

A big thank you to NetGalley and Cougar Creek Publishing LLC for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 4th book in a series, but reads well as a stand alone. Admittedly, you have to catch up, the only thing that's difficult is that there are a lot of characters to get to know. This is the story of Bear and Nyx. They are an interesting couple with lots of baggage. This is a post pandemic and the world is completely different. Truly interesting read. 4 stars This is a romance, fantasy/Sci Fi/ and a mystery.

This series seriously always feels almost a little to close to reality for comfort. After a world-wide (we assume) pandemic has killed off most of the population - things are getting more and more complicated as people start moving beyond just surviving into rebuilding the world. Nyx and Bear are both part of a group of people who have been sheltering and working together at Bear's family ranch - Valhalla. They've been attracted to each other from the beginning - but Nyx doesn't feel ready for a relationship. Bear - on the other hand only wants a serious relationship with Nyx. So when they start out on a mission to work with the good guys to stop the very gross and not so good group of men trying to take over - things get complicated.

This series does just keep getting better and more interesting. I can't wait to see where it goes - and learn more about the other characters we've met. Bear and Nyx are both awesome characters - and have a lot of baggage and background to work through before they can be together for real.

Overall - I loved how this series doesn't leave all the characters pre-pandemic lives at the door. They are all still dealing with grief and pain of the losses they've been through. And the background of the whole series is figuring out how to live again - but without any of the conveniences we have in our lives.

I definitely recommend this book and the series as a whole.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Bear is many things. A cowboy, a brother, a friend. Loyal to a fault and when he sets his mind on something he is as determined as they come. And set his sights on something he has. Nyx fascinates him. She intrigues him. The feelings he has for her are beyond those of a fling. Which is exactly why he will wait her out. But their world is still far from safe and the woman has decided she will go on their latest mission as well. Its a dangerous mission that will put them all at risk if their not careful. Nyx is a woman that is not affraid of much, but putting her heart on the line agains terrifies her. Can she let him in, or will she loose him before they even begin? The mission is all she should be thinking about, but Bear consumes her every thought. How will they make it back home alive? An exciting new story that follows the group as they navigate war with Allsop and his plans to rule the new world .

Apocalyptic Romance!!

Just like watching my favorite TV series. These books just keep getting better every time.

This time Bear and Nyx are front and center. Bear wants a serious forever relationship not a one night stand.

“You were named after a goddess?” “Mm-hmm.” She nodded. “A goddess,” I repeated, testing the word. Guess that made sense. Nyx was divinely beautiful. “My goddess of the night,” I whispered, then touched my cheek to her belly.

Nyx is afraid of commitment and just wants to have fun.

“Nyx?” he breathed. “I’m not afraid anymore,” I said quietly. “I’m all in.”

There journey to love is fraught with danger , jealousy and road blocks. That’s exactly how a apocalypse romance should be.

I have loved this entire series so far ever since meeting Ripper and Kenzie in Pandemonium. In each book the events of the pandemic become even more intense. Each book is so much more than the romance! In this book, rumors of a secret stash of weapons send Finn, Ripper, and Bear undercover as members of an outlaw motorcycle group with Nyx acting as Ripper's woman. Their mission is to find and steal the weapons before Banyon joins Allsop, the man attempting to become dictator in the pacific northwest in the absence of a working government.
I can't wait to find out what happens next with war looming and Finn and Georgia working closer together.
I received a complimentary advance reader copy of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.

Cataclysm by Susanna Strom
Publisher: Cougar Creek Publishing LLC
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers, Romance, Sci Fi & Fantasy
Publication Date: January 18, 2022

Cataclysm is the fourth book in the World Fallen series by Susanna Strom. It can be read as a standalone novel, but the previous books are so good that they are worth reading!!!

Cataclysm is so good! I could not put it down! This book was a fast read and was so captivating! It is fast paced and filled with so much action. I really enjoy the characters and their interactions. I really loved the group dynamic. Also, the romance is hot and steamy (NSFW). The story is laid out really well and filled with twists and turns and so much suspense and excitement!

Set in a post-pandemic world, our heroes and heroines are facing what happens in the resulting power struggle. I love the characters in this book and have enjoyed watching them grow as they deal with the constant crisis around them.

I didn't want this book to end! It was so good that I couldn't put it down! As much as I wanted to know how things would work out, I didn't want to reach the end! I can't wait to see what happens next!

I definitely recommend this book (& the whole series) if you enjoy apocalyptic/dystopian romances!

I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is my first read from this author. I really enjoyed the story line; it makes you really think about the pandemic. Bear's family owns the ranch that the cast of characters now call home. There is an evil force wanting to take over the whole Pacific Northwest and they are aligning with the good guy Marcus. Bear and his friends are tasked with talking a former sporting goods store owner to get his weapons. The book was a great read, and I would like to read the other 3 books out now.

3.75*

I’m loving this series and I enjoyed this book but…
It wasn’t my favourite and I’m not really sure why. Which I know isn’t particularly helpful. I liked all the major players and the way
the story moved forward. It’s building up to war and I can’t wait.

That said I did have a little trouble with ‘just call me Uncle Bobby everyone does’. His kind uncle persona and then his eye for an eye rules took some wrapping my head round. But I wasn’t the only one.

So now I’m left waiting for and looking forward to the next book.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

Cataclysm is another thrill ride addition to the World Fallen series! I loved getting to know Bear and Nyx's story, along with all the characters I already adore in this world. There is never a dull moment in a Susanna Strom book. She hits hard with the action, the danger, the romance, and the steam every time, with Cataclysm being no exception. Eagerly anticipating the next one!
