Great book that bring humor to some serious situations. It was a funny look into the authors home and family life that was also intimate and warm.

This was an interesting memoir/feminist manifesto by a social media influencer I have never heard of, which made it quite an interesting read for me! If you're looking for nuanced conversation about substance abuse, challenging partnerships, and motherhood with laugh-out-loud (but also sometimes cringe-y!) humor, this book is for you. I've found myself thinking back on some of the stories this author has told about her life - they're gutting, they're magical, they're hard to read in some cases. The discussions of social media are as relevant as ever, and the narrative voice was stronger than in most memoirs I've read. I recommend it if it sounds up your alley!

I read Laura's first book to know what to expect when going into the second book.

While Laura seems very sweet and all, this book bored me so much. I enjoy coming across her videos online but not a fan of the writing. The first book was much better. Definitely something that fans would enjoy more than the average reader of memoirs.

Amazing. I was so excited to read this as a huge fan of Laura’s and it did not disappoint. I love her honestly and how open she is. She put 100% of herself into this book and appreciate her so much for that.

Cute book and a look into this authors tale on life with a comedic air. The cover caught my eye and the blurb cinched grabbing a copy.

What did I like? I love this kind of look at life with humor. I’d never heard of the author before or seen her pregnancy videos but the book was definitely funny.

Would I recommend or buy? The author reminds me of Jenny Lawson and the book was super amusing. If your pregnant or looking for another take on motherhood then you will love this book.

Four stars! I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley to read and voluntarily left a review!

With her fame from TikTok to YouTube to now TikTok, I feel like I have watched Laura Clery’s entire adult life on social media. I think the insight into her time away from those kind of socials, finding love, and raising an autistic child was incredibly brave of her to share and it makes me appreciate her and her sense of humor even more.

I loved this raw and touching book. Motherhood is a lot of things. It can be sweet and wonderful but also messy and draining. I love Laura and follow her on social media, so i wasn't surprised by the frank and honest way she discussed everything in her life. I think it's important that people speak honestly about how tough things can be, because in so many aspects of motherhood women are pressured to swallow discomfort and act like everything is unicorns and rainbows. It doesn't diminish something if it's challenging, and Laura has such a wonderful way of respecting the advice she gets from the mom squad of followers.

After reading Idiot in LITERALLY a day I was very excited to hear that Laura Clery had a new book coming out and I can say I was not disappointed.

I love how honest and real Laura keeps things in her book and even in her online personality. It is like talking to your best friend who shares everything and then overshares some more. It just goes to show you that everyone deals with the same issues and that just because someone's lifestyle may seem more extravagant doesn't mean that they aren't deal with real world problems as well.

I can honestly say if Laura writes a third book I will 100% be in line to get it!

Idiots

By Laura Clery

5 stars

So this book is not for the easily offended Laura lays it all out there and I am in love with this book, she gets raw emotional and just lets it out. I have followed Laura for a long time on social I was obsessed with her first book so when this came out of course I was excited and she doesn’t disappoint. I love the lay it out their attitude and just letting us into her past and her life. There are so many things she has gone through that in small ways I have gone through. She is a beautiful talented woman, mother, and wife. The bluntness is great is refreshing to hear it and to know not everyone has their shit together, especially with kids. Her birth stories are great I watched the videos. She does talk about stuff that is triggering but for me, it was hard to read at times you feel like your just talking to your BFF about their past experiences. She has such dark humor that’s needed in a lot of ways that no one realizes they need. I want to get the audio to hear her read it she just has a way of putting emotion into it that most narrators don't, can she read all the books for me.

Go to her Instagram watch some of her videos and then go read her book as long as you aren't easily offended. This lady deserves all the love!!

Thank you, Net Galley, Gallery books, and Laura Clery for the ARC for an honest review

Did not download it before it was archived and did not realize that. I thought it was May and not April.

I just love everything about this book! If you love Laura Clery, you really should read this book and her first book Idiot. She writes her books just like you see her make her videos. They are real and they do not disappoint. You know what you get with her and I find the lack of filter to be one of my favorite parts about her videos and books. It makes it very relatable, minus if few stories that most people cannot match, but they may have one similar to the ones she tells.

If she writes a third book, I will definitely be reading that one as well.

Thanks Netgalley and publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

I’ve been following Laura Clery ever since she was Helen-and-kin on Facebook. Followed her through her two pregnancies and breastfeeding, through diagnoses of ADHD and autism. It was a delight to read Idiots and get more of the background story on Boibs, postpartum, and earlier history.

Trigger warning: don’t read if cuss words and other words for private parts will offend you.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Gallery Books for allowing me to learn more about Laura and family.

She's done it again! I didn't realize I could love someone I've never met before as much as I love Laura! This book was even better than her first! it was so much more raw, emotional and funny. Is that even possible? I loved hearing more about her marriage and her struggles/lessons growing up. Getting to hear more about Alfie and Poppy was the icing on the cake! The last chapter absolutely wrecked me. Going through the same struggle with my son, I felt it all too well. The stigma behind the diagnosis. I love the way she handled it, and continues to be the best mom Alfie, and Poppy, could ask for!

Do yourself a favor and LISTEN to this book! The first chapter had me dying laughing!

Thanks to Netgalley and Gallery books for the ARC of this!

I’m only familiar with Laura Clery in passing from social media - I’ve seen some of her videos as herself and some as Pamela Pumpkin for example, so I knew she was funny but not a ton about her life. I thought this was really interesting, and I was really moved by how she described certain parenting struggles and how she was trying to be for her kids. I would recommend to people who like humorous looks at mental health - Jenny Lawson fans, especially, though there was no taxidermy here 😂

Happy (day after 😬) publication day to Laura Clery! Idiots was FANTASTIC. It takes some serious courage to bare one’s soul and put all of yourself out there to the world. And not just the happy, pretty, polished parts, but all of it - the successes, mistakes, trauma, hilarity, pain, and love that make us who we are. Idiots was hilarious and heartbreaking, poignant and surprising, and a nice reminder that life is messy (literally and figuratively) for all of us, but our messes (whatever they may be) aren’t permanent.

If you’re easily offended or if you dislike creatively explicit language, maybe steer clear of this one. For my fellow readers who enjoy all the profanity the English language has to offer, enjoy!

CW: All of them.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the complimentary advance copy of this work!

Biting humor. Every mother or mother to be needs to read this one. Every single page is relatable and honest.

I love Laura Clery. She’s hilarious, honest, relatable, and humorously crude in the best possible way. This book is full of funny moments as well as tender, sometimes painful ones. If you are a mother to young children, I bet you will enjoy this! While the book does discuss some painful and dark topics, it also captures the joys of motherhood.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

A follow-up to her first novel, Idiot, Laura Clery's Idiots gets real (and sometimes really graphic) about childbirth and motherhood, marriage and relationships, and the hows and whys of living life as a human being.

This was a fun read! If you're a fan of Laura Clery's honest, no-holds-barred, sometimes-a-little-overwhelming comedy, that bright personality shows up on every page of this autobiographical essay collection. Though she leaves space to Get Serious, her unique comedic bent thrives on the page, making this a wonderfully enjoyable read.

Although many of Laura Clery's experiences were ones I couldn't relate to -- having never been addicted to substances or given birth to a human -- the book was both honest and informational about every experience she talked about, and so it was easy as a reader to overcome any disconnects that may have been caused by our different experiences.

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick, fun, honest (sometimes quite graphic!) collection of essays, especially readers who are enamored with Laura Clery's videos.
