Thank you NetGalley for this ARC
This was interesting scientific read and can be a struggle to read for this without a high interest in the scientific side.
This would be a very educational book and would be great for those studying nutrition and looking at different types of diets or in that field
Would be easier in physical copy than on an e-reader as it made it harder to get through

Very interesting theory and backed up with the facts in a non clinical language everyone can understand. Nothing I didn't already know however its an easy read and contains links to other resources etc. If you are looking for inspiration and direction then there is a lot of takeaways from the book. Thank you #NetGalley for the e-book to review.

Kara Fitzgerald has outlined a very sensible framework from which to plan and prioritise physical and psychological health for the long term. I appreciated the lessons I learned in this book, particularly around ways to mitigate the stress of modern life and invest in a long, healthy life.

Overall, I found this an interesting book. The suggestions about how to sleep well, do moderate exercise and meditate daily are useful and achievable. The science behind the approach is well detailed and interesting (although worrying too). The author goes into a considerable amount of detail about diet and nutrition. One disadvantage of reading on the kindle is that the charts are not formatted properly making it virtually impossible to understand the information at times. The 8 week diet that she suggests starting with is fairly restrictive. As is the case with many of these diets, it requires cooking and making everything from scratch which would be very time consuming. It does look good though if you have plenty of time - I would find this virtually impossible when I work full time, especially because I would have to cook separately for the children who wouldn't enjoy most of this. As well as the intensive 8 week programme, she also details an everyday programme. She includes a meal plan for the every day programme which is useful. Although she includes a shopping list for the intensive programme, I couldn't see the actual meal plan to use this shopping list with.
There is a large section of recipes, and these do look very tasty. I will certainly be trying some of them. There are also links to an app and a website, where you can pay to join a programme. This was fairly expensive, so it's not something I would be signing up to. If there had been a detailed meal plan for the intensive programme, I would have given this book 4 stars. If there had been some easier meals on both of the plans, including some ready to buy and eat ideas, and the book had not linked to an expensive online programme, I would have given it 5 stars.
Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

Took me a while to go through this. It's very science-y and goes deep, really deep, into DNA and its methylation and all that. The book gives good pointers towards what to eat to help with that (lots of veggies, esp. cruciferous ones, mushrooms like shiitake, liver, or eggs if you're vegetarian, green tea, among others)
I'm not 'sold' on this book, and the reason I'm not giving it 2 stars or less is because there is good information in there. However, it all reads like a big science fest - if you ask me now what DNA methylation actually is, I know I just read this book over the past 2 weeks...but I still won't be able to tell you without looking it up on another site because this explanation was terribly buried in the whole thing!
The whole thing also reads like a huge infomercial - 'my' program is awesome and amazing and 'my' program works... I get it the author is writing this book not just out of the goodness of her heart; she needs to get readers to click into/buy into her specific program. I get it - they all do this with this kind of book. But it was a lot of promises and not much 'results'. Her program will shave 3 years off your biological age? From her questionnaire, I'm already 3 years younger than my bio age, from all I'm already doing - how, then, is her program supposed to help me? 3 years isn't that big a deal with bio/actual age. 10 years, okay, that sounds better. 3? Doesn't seem worth the contortions of her very intense and strict diet
My other peeve - and all books are measured by this for me: I have oestrogen dominance...yet there is no mention of how this book/program would affect hormones! For example, no dairy, so go for almond/other nut milk. That's a heaping load of oestrogen I'd be putting into my body! What about preventing hormone-receptive breast or other reproductive system cancer, then, since the book is about getting you to better health, which includes preventing cancer? Where's the mention and warning there? None, actually.
You can say - she says consult your doctor first. Fine...but where's the warning that this food is high in this or that and can be harmful for this or that condition? Your 'regular' doctor probably wants you to eat like what the nutritionist says - they're not interested in having you start another different protocol...which ends up with you having to consult the very doctor who created the program to be sure this program is/can work for you
All in all, read this if you want pointers towards making your current diet better... But don't take it as gospel! Do your own research, know your own health, and don't just jump in with eyes closed.

So informative and a book I am sooo greatly appreciate of! We don't have to accept a descent into disease and unwellness as we age as inevitable: when you reduce bio age you reduce your odds of developing all the major diseases, including diabetes, cancer, and dementia. With assessment tools for determining your bio age, recipes, and plans for putting it all into practice, Younger You helps you repair years of damage, ward off chronic disease, and optimize your health-for years to come.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this book. An interesting take on how we can positively influence our life and ageing process by paying attention to what we eat in every day life.

Not for me. I struggled to read this book, possibly because the review copy didn’t format well on my e-reader. The first part of the book was about Bio Age but I quickly became bored. Overall, it didn’t really seem to be telling me anything new or useful. I have already taken on board most of the general advice on healthy eating and exercise, so this book did not contribute anything radically different.

So much food for thought here! Very well explained and some recipes I can't wait to try out. Highly recommended for taking control of your health.

A helpful resource in reducing your bio-age. Lots of tips, research, and examples. Thanks to Net Galley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

This was very interesting. My new digital scales have the body age and I do need to look at reducing this (at one stage it was nearly double my age) so this was a really useful book to have.

It was not preachy and the recipes were relatively easy to follow. There were good hints on general lifestyle changes which were not hard to make.

I was given an advance copy by the publishers and netgalley but the review is entirely my own.

The pros are there's a lot of scientific discussion regarding epigenetics, methylation, as well as studies that provide evidence of the potential for nutritional and lifestyle changes to assist with methylation and lower homocysteine levels etc.
It all depends on whether you buy this as the answer to all illness and ageing. I've read numerous books on nutrition and epigenetics and this seems to repeat a lot of the previous books that insist on food being medicine. There is still a long way to go before there is conclusive evidence that generational choices pass down or that the wellness industry claims to be able to fix things using a diet plan is enough to beat disease. I found a lot of the examples listed here were quite a reach and for many of the trials and studies given as evidence you can Google many more that suggest a different conclusion. Ultimately I think any advice regarding a very limited diet excluding food groups and/or drastic change to someone's lifestyle and diet should not be done via a book but with proper, professional guidance throughout because everyone is individual. The disclaimer printed at the front of this book is enough to suggest you should tread with caution and question for yourself what the plan strategies may mean for YOU.

This book really stood out to me firstly because I have been following Dr fitzgerald's work for sometime now and because i have been very interested in learning how to slow down ageing. In our society slowing ageing is associated with look, but I don't care about looking good as much as I do about feeling good, and thats why this book was perfect for me.

It is very much an educational book with lots of science of course so may need to be read over time rather than in one go but there are also useful recipes/plans and tips on how to actually implement the knowledge. There are some great illustrations/graphics that I found very helpful such as one on negative and positive influences on our dna.

The book touches on some very interesting topics such as DNA methylation, epigenetics, food and lifestyle, heart health, alzheimers, diabetes, use of supplements and their pros and cons, exercise, stress reducing practices and how to assess your biological age,

There is a section on eating plans and customising you eating plan as well as a bit about an elimination diet, foods to include in your diet, fermented foods and probitocs, hydration and a bit about foods to avoid. There is also consideration for vegetarians and vegans here.

You are given a meal plan to follow for a certain timeframe which can be very useful for those who thrive with structure and routine. I myself am not one of those people so i hope to follow it with a bit of flexibility.

Overall i think this is an extremely beneficial book which i will be turning to often.

Younger You : Reduce Your Bio Age - and Live Longer, Better is a scientifically based book to help anyone improve their health and knock some biological years off by making healthier choices. The book is quite extensive and covers a lot of ground. Everything is backed up with scientific experiments, case studies and detailed evidence. To be honest it was a little bit too text book for me (I don't need that much convincing), I would have been happier with less science and more recipes and 'doing'. A good book for serious, maybe not so for anyone who is just wanting to get on with the practical bits.

A superb healthy diet book, with healthy recipes, including sweet and savoury muffins, that I found mouthwatering. Fantastic, I will reference it for recipes and I enjoyed reading it as well. A highly recommended book. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of the book.
