I really enjoyed this. I was intrigued by the premise of kids helping other kids through their nightmares. They are solving mysteries kind of like the Scooby Gang. I want to read more to find out what happens. I loved the art. It was creepy and really puts you in the story. Thank you to NetGalley and Papercutz for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

The concept of rescuing patients by immersing oneself in their dreams, thereby confronting their deepest fears, is incredibly imaginative. It brings me great joy to know that this will be a series, as the unique concept presented in this book left me yearning for more. While I wished for a full-length novel to further explore this fascinating idea, I anticipate that future volumes will delve into darker and more chilling territories.

The artwork style in the book was a perfect match for the story, particularly considering the complexity of the plot. It allowed for easy comprehension and added to my overall reading experience. Additionally, I appreciated the representation of disabled characters within the narrative.

'The Nightmare Brigade #1: The Case of The Girl from Deja Vu' by Franck Thilez with art by Yomgui Dumont is a graphic novel about a team that helps solve nightmares from the inside.

Esteban and Tristan are a team of nightmare fighters. When they meet a young girl named Sarah, they may be in over their head. Her nightmare shows as a city behind a big wall. Grownups run around trying to capture children.

It's a good premise, but seems like child endangerment, if I think about it too much. The art could have been a bit cleaner for my taste.

The Case of The Girl from Deja Vu is the first volume of The Nightmare Brigade by Frank Thillez (writer) & Yomgui Dumont (illustrator). Released 22nd Feb 2022 by Papercutz, it's 112 pages and is available in hardcover, paperback, and ebook formats.

The eARC provided for review was approximately half the finished graphic novel, but more than enough content to give a feel for the flow of the story and art. This is a well plotted middle grade to young adult graphic novel about a team of researchers who are able to infiltrate people's dreams in order to help them process trauma and recover from their nightmares.

There is a creepy sense of dreamlike unreality which the art suits very well.

Originally published in French, the translation work is seamless and not at all apparent in the English language version.

Four stars. Maybe a little creepy for very sensitive readers, but there's no graphic violence or objectionable material (just that all-pervasive creeping dread - very nightmare/dreamlike).

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Whoa.. this is like some freaky deaky graphic novel version of inception. It leaves you wanting more. Illustrations remind of the band Gorillaz... I'm intrigued.

This was a sample of the book so I only got to read about a third of the finished product. It was enough of a peak to get me interested in reading the whole story.

I wasn't a huge fan of the illustration style but it would not keep me from reading more of the series.

2 stars. I was not impressed with the flow of the story or the art. If I am honest, this was just boring. Super boring. Review to come.

This is a short story to a duo of kids who solve the mystery of Nightmares that is happening to a girl falling asleep in a laboratory.

The plot line has a lot of potential! I didn't really care for the artwork. From the 48 pages that I read I would recommend it.

I really enjoyed the art style in this graphic novel. It was almost a mix of 90s cartoons in a Tim Burton style.
Really interesting premise of people who enter others Nightmares to try help them discover the root cause.
I couldn't help feel the end of the volume a little rushed and somewhat anticlimactic.
It's obvious there will be other volumes but it felt like quite a bit of build up for something the characters solved relatively easily.

I don't know if perhaps this is a translated title but there was one instance of the word 'handicapped' in reference to one of the main characters who is a wheelchair user. Although the character mentions it himself it's just something I found slightly jarring. For me personally I would have preferred to see more inclusive language used in place of this.

I immediately fell into this book and story. I want to binge this entire storyline right now. :)
The beautiful way the author incorporates self reflection into the plot of the story is incredible and deeper than you tend to see in younger comics.

Me pareció una lectura súper entretenida. Personajes son diversos y más de una adolescente se sentirá identificado con ellos.
Aborda muchos temas importantes y el autor logra llevarlos con mucha profundidad
