I'm really enjoying this series and getting to know each King son!

I felt like this book was a bit heavier than the first for the fact that it dealt with heavier and more concerning topics. I don't know if it's just be but toxic parents are on the heavier topic side. That being said, the characters go through a lot in this book and you witness these relationships and see and understand what the character is going through.

On the lighter side of things, I love that he fell in love first and that it ultimately became a second chance novel that was very sweet and passionate despite the toxicity in both the characters lives. Their love shined through!🌤

Check TWs, friends!

Thank you to NetGalley and Haver Street Press for the earc in return for an honest review.

What a great way to start the year!! I enjoyed this book so much! It was amazing!
I love second chance romances and Cream and Punishment is no exception!
This book is not just romance but also dealing with toxic parents, knowing what is best for oneself, and also taking a stand for what is right.
All the characters in this book were amazing! I loved Tanner so much. I adored how all the brothers loved each other and took a stand for each other.
Though I found this book a little bit boring in the middle, the complete ride was enjoyable.
I adored this and highly recommend it!

What better way to start the month than with a book centered around an ice cream factory? I loved book one of this series so when the new one became available on Netgalley, I immediately requested and proceeded to read it ASAP. So glad I did as just like before, I completely devoured it! ⁣

A cute romance storyline, likable characters, yummy setting with fun laugh out moments (the theme park for those that have read it!) - you can't ask for much more. Highly recommend this series to those that love a Christina Lauren happy feel good romance. I'm eagerly awaiting book three now!

I'm really surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Suzannah Nix is a new to me author, but after Cream and Punishment I'm ready for more content from her.

Tanner King has had enough of his father and his power plays. There's only so much embarrassment a grown man can withstand, and after his father purposefully set out to humiliate him by assigning him a job as a... walking, (non)talking ice cream cone, Tanner has reached his limit. When his older sister takes pity on him and offers him a different job in their father's Creamery, he's eager to accept. But he's up for an unpleasant surprise when he finds out one of his new coworkers is, in fact, his ex girlfriend Lucy. A woman who dumped him as soon as the words 'I love you' left his lips. A woman he still hasn't stopped loving.

Leaving her boyfriend high and dry right after he'd confessed his love for her is not one of Lucy's finest moments. She regrets crushing Tanner's heart but, to her defense, she's commitment-phobic. Or, actually, commitment-full. She has her hands full with taking care of her good-for-nothing mother and younger brother, and adding a boyfriend to the mix was just asking for disaster —at least in Lucy's mind. So, to avoid complicating her life further, she dumped the guy every woman in the planet would be lucky to have.

Apparently, working with Tanner in such close quarters is the wake up call Lucy needed in order to realize what a huge mistake giving him up was. Being in his presence every day, seeing him being all considerate, polite, gentlemanly... she realizes what she's lost. She desperately wants him back and, lucky her, Tanner is very much in love with her still —he won't need much convincing to give her another chance.

Tanner was one of the best male characters ever. Who wants bad boys when you can have a nerdy gentleman instead? One who knows how to treat a woman right, respects her wishes, takes care of her when she needs it... That's Tanner. He was so respectful of Lucy and that alone had me swooning hard for him. It was a tiny bit impossible not to hold a grudge against Lucy for breaking his heart. He didn't deserve this kind of treatment.

Lucy... I'll be honest. I didn't like her much at first. BUT! I adored her later on, as soon as she realized how stupid she'd been in the past and treated Tanner the way he deserved. Once we get a little insight on her life, on her family, her behavior towards Tanner in the past made so much more sense.

I liked this book more than the first one! Lucy and Tanner were so cute together. I love me a good second chance romance. The ending and epilogue was super sweet. There are definitely some spicy scenes but nothing too intense. I read this and My Cone and Only back to back and now I just want some ice cream! Both books are good romcoms. I’ll definitely read book 3 about Ryan when it comes out!
Thanks NetGalley for the advance copy of this book. This review is posted on Goodreads and will be on my Instagram as well in a few days.

The only thing cuter than that punny title is the sweet, cinnamon roll of a hero in this light and sexy second chance romance. I loved him! I'm new to this series, but I had no trouble jumping right in and getting caught up on the family drama, which has me itching to read more of these ice cream-themed rom coms. This was a lot of fun, but the hero definitely stole the show; it's the rare case of a kind and loyal hero who falls well before his girl. While I'm not typically a fan of second chance romances, this one worked for me - they only dated for a short time, our heroine ran scared when those three little words were uttered, and neither one has moved on. I loved the office dynamic, and - while this was probably longer than it needed to be and slow-moving at times - I was rooting for this couple to find their way back together.

The story follows Tanner and Lucy, exes who broke up about six months ago. They only dated for about five weeks, but they both knew things were great between them... until Tanner said "I love you." Turns out, he thought they were falling in love while Lucy thought they were keeping it casual, and that sealed their fate. Unfortunately, they run in the same friend group and work for the same company, so awkward encounters with the ex are inevitable. When Tanner is transferred to Lucy's department, they're forced to work together and get past their cringeworthy breakup. The only problem? Now that Lucy's spending all of this time with Tanner, she has no idea why she let him get away in the first place.

I loved that this wasn't a heavy or angsty second chance romance; they didn't break up because they weren't right for each other, they just weren't looking for the same things. It doesn't take long for Lucy to realize that she let a really great guy get away, and I loved that Tanner stayed consistently swoonworthy throughout. There's something so refreshing about a genuinely good guy who is all in for his girl, and that was definitely the best part of the book. I also really enjoyed the family dynamics on Tanner's side (Lucy's family was frustrating), which have me ready to read more from the series. The only real drawback for me was that it was longer than the typical rom com and some of it got a little boring, especially Lucy's hesitation to move forward. But I liked a lot of this, and I'd certainly be interested in reading future books in the series. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this second chance romance.

Thanks to NetGalley and haverstrrt press I was able to treat myself to 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (PUB 1.18.22), the second in Nix's King Family series.⁣

Six months ago Tanner told Lucy he loved her and she responded by dumping him. Now they are on the same work team and forced proximity has them fighting the urge to grasp at their second chance at love. ⁣

Their story is hindered by trust issues and complicated families. But the way they are open, tender and vulnerable with each other is lovely. The romance is a slow-burn that comes to a salaciously, steamy boil. ⁣

This big family/small town contemporary romance is compulsively readable and left me with a smile on my face. ⁣

You don’t have to read the first in the series, 𝗠𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗲 & 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆, but if you do you’ll appreciate the glimpses of Andie & Wyatt.

I was really excited to read this having read the first book in this companion series, My Cone and Only, and enjoying it. I'm also a huge fan of the second chance romance trope, something this book promised which added to my anticipation. Although, I must say this did not meet my expectations. That's not to say it wasn't a good book, it was just lacking in certain areas.

It lacked the same memorability of it's predecessor and it also seemed to have slow pacing which I usually don't enjoy in a romance. With that said, I must acknowledge things I enjoyed about this book, like the playful office setting and again the second chance romance aspect of the storytelling. I'm also always going to prefer a dual pov over a single pov in a romance book so that was appreciated.

Cream and Punishment, overall, was enjoyable; I just think my own feelings having to do with the first book in this series created expectations that were difficult to meet. I will be reading the next book in the series, the next couple was hinted at in this book and I would like to see where it goes.

This was a really cute second chance with a bit of workplace romance thrown in for good measure. I thought it took a while to get into because for the first 20% of the book or so, the two characters barely appear on the page together. Once they started working together and reconnected, I enjoyed it a lot more. There’s witty banter, great steam, and funny side characters.

The author’s note in the beginning covers a lot of the content warnings, but the level of toxicity and manipulation from both sets of the parents in this book was a lot. It was hard to read even knowing it would be a major theme.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.

This book is so much fun! It was very witty and fulfilling. I didn’t read the first book but I don’t feel as if I missed out on anything. I will probably read book 1 now though!

I've been wanting to read Susannah Nix for a while, and I can gladly say that I like her writing style.
Although the cover and title might suggest a light story, I found myself having Deep Feelings about the characters. Both main characters have less-than-ideal parental units and unconventional family situations, and some of the situations portrayed really hit me right in the feels.
I loved reading about Tanner and Lucy, about how they face their struggles and find their strengths. Tanner has been in love with Lucy since the first time they were together. It's not common to read about the male main character being soft and really in touch with their feelings. It was refreshing. This is my last ARC of 2021, and I'm glad it ended on such a good note!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Thank you @netgalley for the e-ARC of Cream and Punishment.

I was hooked when I saw this was an exes-second-chance romance! I can’t get enough of this trope.

Tanner is the dream. I mean, a cute guy with an English degree who makes book references. Who wouldn’t want that? Well, Lucy.

She broke up with him and then starts to realize her mistake. I had some issues with her. Lucy was wishy washy. She didn’t want Tanner but got ticked when he made friends. She wanted to be free but let every character walk all over her. I just couldn’t like her.

The setting was awesome! The workplace romance was really fun and there were some really funny moments. I also adored the side characters. L

I LOVE the King family - this series is pure delight and I especially enjoyed Tanner and Lucy's second chance at love story! This book had me laughing and crying as the characters work through their vulnerabilities in the most relatable and caring of ways.

Perfect for anyone who loves:
-bookish characters with the most amazing Pride & Prejudice references!
-swoony leads who aren't afraid to help their partners with the messier parts of life
-workplace romances
-slow burn, second chance romances
-lots of family baggage and supportive siblings
-emotional depth
-steamy open door scenes

Much thanks to NetGalley and the author for my advance review copy. I devoured this in one day and can't wait for the next story featuring Ryan!

Well let just say that this was a cute read. I loved, loved the first one, but this one was just okay. I am happy that I got a chance to read it and I am thankful for this ARC but I am little let down with this book.
Tanner is so cute and loveable character, but I just couldn't connect with Lucy. I don't know way. She is sweet and kind, but I just needed more from her.
Yes, I can not wait to read Ryans' story... This one was good enough...

3.5 stars for me.

3.5 stars!!!

This is the second book in the King family's series. I haven't read the first one, but I want to do so as soon as possible!

Lucy and Tanner dated for several weeks before she called it quits. As a result, it was unavoidable to experience heartbreak. They're now required to work together. Isn't that simple? Working with your ex is so easy… said no one ever.

After some awkwardness and glaring, they agreed to be friends again. Which is fine until they realize their feelings for each other haven't disappeared completely.

They encounter many challenges together, from toxic parents to family problems, but they always rely on one another and do their best to communicate what they feel.

Let's take a moment to admire this cover. I’m obsessed with it.
