I received an ARC of this novel from NETGALLEY in exchange for my honest review.

Good Morning, Love follows our FMC, Carli, who is an singer/songwriter lining in New York City. By day she works as a junior account manager at a big-time company to pay bills until her dreams of becoming a successful songwriter become reality. Carli prides herself in balancing her professional life with her musical career until a meeting with a rising star, Tau Anderson, threatens to turn her life upside down.

I really enjoyed how this shows us the vibrant New York music scene. It’s not something you read about often and it’s clear that the author knows a lot about this profession, it was refreshing to learn a little bit about something I knew next to nothing about.

Very good POC and minority representation as well as religious/ spirituality rep.

I also enjoyed the big name drops of famous musicians such as Beyoncé, Bianca, Lauren hill etc. going back and forth from NYC & LA was really cool too.

It was really hard to get into in the beginning, I didn’t really start caring until 50% of the book. I really did not care for Tau in the start of their relationship, honestly I would have picked Dylan instead. The romance overall was very lackluster in my opinion.

I also had a problem getting into the dialogue. Sometimes lingo just does not work and it made getting into the characters that much harder.

Although this is a contemporary romance, it’s also all about self discovery, finding your place and in the world and taking a leap of faith in what makes you happy.

I would recommend this novel to anyone who has an interest is music, romance and following your dreams.

I was Excited about the cover and representation in the book. In practice I didn’t connect with the writing style so it was hard to really get invested in the story. Thank you for the chance to preview!

I thought the description of this book sounded interesting and was really hoping I’d like it, but it just wasn’t my favorite book. I thought it was difficult to stay engaged and identify with the characters and overall the book just moved too slow and wasn’t as interesting as I hoped. I do think a part of that has to do with it being set in the music industry and me having a harder time identifying with that, but I also thought the romance left something to be desired.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Highly recommend!! This book is a definite page-turner! You'll be left thinking about the story long after you put the book down. First book to read by this author but definitely not my last!

This book was good. I found it really slow in the beginning and didn’t really get into it until about halfway. I really liked the life lessons this book taught about following your dreams and your heart. And how we have to make difficult choices sometimes in order to follow them. Oh and that people are snakes and you always need to be watching your back.

This story follows Carli, an aspiring songwriter who moves out to New York to pursue her dreams but has to work a serious job to make ends meet, which takes up a considerable amount of her time and puts a damper on her writing. She meets a pop star through her job, they hit it off. He helps her with her dreams… I can’t say they fall in love because I didn’t really connect with the characters and didn’t feel much of a connection between them either. I feel like maybe if it was written in dual POV, we could have felt more between the characters.

And the ending was a little anticlimactic… an epilogue about where she ended up and what she was doing and what happened with her and the love interest would have been nice. But I feel like it just… ended? I just felt like there was so much potential with little snippets of things mentioned in the book that ended up just being loose ends. The cultural and minority representation was great and the fact that the author addressed real life issues that occur daily and that need change was amazing. Overall I feel like it could have tied together a little bit differently but it wasn’t bad.

This book was a bit too slow for my liking. Though it should've been a quick read it felt like it dragged on. The writing style was not my favorite either. All in all, a 2.5 star read for me.

This was... fine? Until the end, which no spoilers but was NOT FINE.

In general, i couldn't get too deeply into these characters. I think the pacing was fine but the point of view was a little off for me? This might be my general issue with millennial fiction where i can't quite handle the antihero thing--but i can't even tell if people in this book were supposed to be antiheroes or if we were supposed to actually like them?

As i read it i was pretty neutral about it and there were some enjoyable parts, and i didn't consider DNFing it, but it didn't quite work for me!

Enter a new world of music, magic, and making your way in this world. A great read by Ashley Coleman. Though the subject and setting were new to me, the author's story helps to transport readers. The story ends a bit quickly, which I didn't like at first (I wanted to see were the main characters went!), but in the end, I appreciate the open-endedness.

Thanks NetGalley for this e-arc !

Good morning, love is a really good title. It’s what brought me in. Also the cover is so bright ! I love these colors. Carli finds herself in this book, I would be friends with Carli ! She goes into the music industry just like her father.

This is a really good book ! And would recommend it to anyone interested in woman’s romance/literature

I enjoyed this book. It felt a little slow for me at times, and maybe it was a little long? The characters were likable, but their thoughts and actions were pretty predictable. This was great for an easy read, especially if music is your passion. It was fun seeing the music industry from an insider’s perspective.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Carli Henton is a songwriter working at a media company doing PR when she meets Tau Anderson, an up and coming musician her company was hired to promote. Pulled in by Tau, the two begin to navigate what dating looks like in the face of constant media pressure.

This books is great for anyone wanting an inside look at the music industry. Through Carli's eyes, you get a really in depth view of what happens on the other side of a new music album.

For me, the romance fell a little flat however. If you like insistent alpha males in your books, this one would work really well for you. Tau's approach to getting Talia's interest was just too much for me though. If a girl says she can't date you, she can't date you. Consistently pursuing her after she turned him down really put me off Tau as a character.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review an advanced copy!

This was an amazing light quick read! Perfectly for anyone who wants to escape the real world and fall for some fictional characters.

The intro immediately hooked me, it was direct and engaging. I couldn't have loved it more! That's usually the most boring part where we're meeting the important characters, but nope this was so engaging. Something about the style and syntax was very memorable. The start even had some subtle foreshadowing to the characters and their personalities/issues that was very thought provoking.

I just could not put this book down! I don't think it was fast paced but it gave me a rush of serotonin. I smiled throughout the whole book. Such a happy read. All the characters were very enjoyable. All signs point to not liking the MMC but I had such a soft spot for him like Carlisa does. He won me over very early on it was perfect.

10/10 will be checking out this author again in the future.

I really wanted to like this book, but it was a no for me. I found this book to be pretty slow and difficult to get through. I enjoyed the minority representation in the book, but that’s where the list of things I liked ends. The use of “lingo” is overdone and outdated, the main love interest was a generic alpha male who can’t take no for an answer, and the protagonist is not very intriguing. There are a lot of common themes in here— “He’s into me but I don’t want him”, “I have a dream but Im too scared to go for it”, and “She doesn’t want to date me so I will ruin her career” (side characters not love interest). I think these themes can be done well but I didn’t like them in this storyline. Also, I felt like there was something missing with the romance. It didn’t have much tension or build up— it was “Oh he’s not and there’s sparks when I touch him” and that’s all. If you’re specifically looking for a romance relating to the music industry, you may like this book, since the premise of it is a couple in the music industry. But I would not recommend it to my friends.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book!

Content warning: There is a scene of attempted sexual assault. The author takes care of Carli. Carli is restrained from moving and very scared of what is coming next. She manages to knee the bad guy in the nuts and scene is interrupted by her group coming to support her.

Good Morning, Love by Ashley M. Coleman is a great read! The author is so descriptive in her language and it adds richness into the story. This wonderful story lets us peek into the elusive music industry on many levels: people trying to get their art out there, people who are starting to get big, and stars. Carli and Tau have a super hot instant connection and seeing them grow into a relationship is wonderful. I was rooting for Carli the whole time. When she comes to a fork in the road, I was willing her to take the leap! A truly enjoyable read!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Good Morning, Love is a contemporary romance written by Ashley M. Coleman

What i love most about this book is that not only is there a little bit of romance but it follows a character who’s in the midst of finding herself and her worth. I relate so much to Carli as she tries to follow her dreams. I love her personality and how true she stayed to herself. I love how it really indulged in self worth and love.

I loved the whole music and city vibe - it’s one of my favorite things and it just gives off a great feeling. What really brought me to this book was the cover. It was simple but it still convinced me to read it. I also really enjoyed Carli’s character development, she can be so charming and it’s easy to fall in love with her demeanor.

This was a 4/5 star read for me.

I want to start by thanking NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the opportunity to read another great book!
Good Morning, Love caught my attention as the description started off with the comment that this was for fans of Jasmine Guillory’s While We Were Dating. I was a big fan of Guillory’s series and knew I needed to check this out.
I was not disappointed at all! Coleman did a great job with what could have been a not so original tale of girl meets famous guy, girl uproots life to move closer to famous guy, girls life falls apart – but it wasn’t that. There were more layers to this story and I really appreciated the character development of Carlisa “Carli” Henton as she was navigating the relationship – or her resistance to – with rising star Tau Anderson.
This is a story where Carli, a musician and songwriter, tries to make her way up the ladder of the music industry and follow in her father’s footprints. It would be easy for her to use her father’s name and get the breaks she’s always wanted, but she doesn’t want to do it that way. She wants to make a name for herself based on her talent. As she’s slowly working to do that, she also has a job as a junior account manager at a major media company. Through her job there, she meets the rising super star, Tau Anderson.
This story takes many twists and turns, but along the way Carli learns a lot of valuable information of how to stand up for herself and what really matters in life. She is able to stay true to herself and give in to her heart, though she knows it could cause a great deal of heartache if it doesn’t turn out well.
There were a couple of times through the book where I felt we were spinning our wheels, but by the time it was over I found myself wanting more!

What I liked: The characters were distinct and the world the author created was vivid. I appreciated the music industry representation. I liked the evolution of the character's relationship with her father & the cultural familial elements woven into the story.

What didn't work for me: Several plot points and characters felt random and I didn't understand their relevance. I didn't feel like the story had a lot of resolution and had several loose ends. I couldn't get behind the main character chasing her romantic interest to L.A. at the end. The book had a "coming of age" tone and the ending didn't quite fit.

Even though you’d most likely automatically categorize this as a romance novel, I would argue that this book has a multitude of genres in it which gives the entire story line a fulfilling plot & complexity within the the characters. The whole premise seems to be about self discovery & finding where you fit into the world. It touches on everything from dealing with your past, to deciphering relationships, to ultimately taking a leap of faith in attempting to reach for something in life that makes you truly happy.

The relatability is what attracted me to read this novel. I think we’ve all been stuck at an impasse without being entirely sure if the road we’re about to travel down is the best for us. That’s why I really enjoyed Carli’s character so much. Watching her progression throughout her experiences in the book, seeing her discover herself, question herself, finding her voice, all while being her imperfectly perfect self in such a vast field of music—it’s beautiful! You can’t help but root for her as the underdog & pray that she succeeds in her dreams in the industry.

This is a very sweet, feel good story about believing in yourself & although I’m more of a fan of the thrillers—I actually really enjoyed this read & would recommend it to anyone who is out on the road less traveled trying to make their dreams a reality.
