Maybe I’m missing something, but I’m not enjoying this book. I’m only halfway through and I’m not sure I’m going to finish.
I enjoyed the last book, but this one is boring me to tears. I liked Riley before, but now I find her whiny. And the plot is driving me crazy! I feel like every time we reach a point where there might be some resolution to the problem, we are sent off on a different quest that just extends the plot. It makes me feel like there was no outline for this story, just a page count that had to met and when we are getting close to resolving things, the author has to make things more complicated to reach their quota. I feel like a drunken butterfly bouncing from one distraction to another.
Sorry to be harsh, but this is what I’m having issues with.

A solid installment in the series. The take on the afterlife, and it's "restructuring" was clever and fun. The addition of the moon, no spoilers but it's also extremely obvious, is also nice. Great new characters being added.

Riley is determined to fix Gin’s Magic and save her family from the fate she feels responsible for. She takes a risk and finds herself in the reincarnation realm in hopes of finding a new patron god for her family.

This is a great middle grade adventure. It is a continuation of Riley finding out who she is. All of the characters from main to supporting are brilliantly done. They are vivant and super relatable—even if they are mythical. Riley’s character arc is ever evolving and you can see then grown in her becoming a strong well rounded person. I loved the continuation of this story from the first book.

Another great read in the Rick Riordan presents. Though technically a middle grade, any reader of the book can learn alot.

Get ready for a magical adventure into the world of Korean mythology, sisterhood, food, and family relationships as Riley hatches a plan with her sister, Hattie, that she hopes will help her feel like she fits in. As she travels on her quest, she finds self acceptance and belonging from those who love her.

The sequel to The Last Fallen Star is another great story by Grace Kim. Students who liked the first book will certainly like the second book. Full of fantasy, action and mythology references. Will definitely add to our school library collection.

The Last Fallen Moon is the second book in the "Gifted Clans" series. It continues the story of Riley, a Korean adoptee, who is actually a piece of a fallen star; living as 13 year old girl in a Korean-American world. It's a world of gifted clan witches, Korean goddesses and three realms of existence. In this story, Riley struggles to undo some of the unexpected consequences of her first adventure. But this time, she is in the underworld facing new dangers and making new friends.. Author Graci Kim fills the book with Korean mythology and pop culture. It's focus on family, friendship and community make it a joyful read for all!

another rousing success by Graci Kim. I may have liked this even more than the first book. It was a great story with complex characters and nice plot twists. Riley has made enemies, particularly from the Gom clan and is still dealing with that. Her family home ends up cursed, and she decides she must do the impossible. She needs to find a new patron to restore magic to her clan. This book is her journey! A great story for middle grade students with a strong female lead

Thank you to Disney Publishing Worldwide and NetGalley for providing a copy of this eARC for review.

I love Riley's story. She goes through so many difficulties and does her best to stay strong. She falters sometimes, which makes her a more relatable and likeable character. She is not perfect, which makes her even more wonderful. I love the twist thrown in with the Fallen Moon. (I'll keep details scarce to avoid spoilers.)

"We see you."

I can't wait to read more about Riley Oh.

Another great book in the Gifted Clans series by Graci Kim. I love this Rick Riordan presents line as it brings own voices authors to tell the myths and legends of their cultures. And that's what makes this books so good.

This continues the series beautifully. This is a great conversation opener with students about how actions can have unexpected or undesirable outcomes. The high fantasy of the novel allows for explorations of racism and classism that might be difficult to broach in other avenues.

The Rick Riordan Presents line continues to be one of the best imprints out there for finding talented authors and sharing stories from cultures around the world. Graci Kim continues to engage readers right off the bat, creating an adventure that is hard to put down! I can't wait to introduce this series to my library.

The Last Fallen Moon, by Graci Kim, brings you into the mythical Korean world, when Riley Oh finds she must travel into the Spiritrealm to retrieve her memories, try to bring her sister back and restore her family’s healing power. I believe this is the second book in a trilogy.

When I was hoping for the sequel for "The Last Fallen Star", "The Last Fallen Moon" gave me everything that I could've possibly asked for and more! Graci actually caught me off guard and she gave me so many twists & turns and so many new characters! I'm now really anxious for the finale book because I want to know how Riley & her crew make it through to the end! I'm ready for 2023 to get here!

A solid follow-up tot he first Gifted Clans novel. Riley is as relatable as ever and her bond with her sister is one of my favorite things. I super loved all the world building for the Korean afterlife and the new characters we met. there.

This second book in the Gifted Clans Series finds our heroine once again trying to find a way to fit in amongst her people. You’d think saving humanity would have won everyone over, but Riley now finds herself up against new obstacles. First off, in the act of saving the world, she also removed the Gom clan’s healing powers, and the clan is not at all pleased. And this time she doesn’t even have the love and devotion of her family and friends to fall back on since no one remembers her. Riley feels like she’s only made things worse for everyone, and she’s bound and determined to fix things. This leads her on a journey to the Spiritrealm to find an honorary god who she believes can restore the Gom clan’s healing abilities. There she learns that being undocumented in the underworld comes with some real disadvantages. She almost gives up hope until she meets a mysteriously quirky janitor boy named Dahl with a thirst for adventure. Dahl immediately agrees to help her on her quest, and it turns out he can be quite resourceful! Dahl is definitely my favorite new character in the series—he adds humor and intrigue to the story! Of course, Korean mythology is featured heavily in the Spiritrealm (with Kim’s own unique and very fun twists!). Riley has to avoid a sentence in one of the versions of (vacation?) hell, face down Korean versions of helldogs and mermaids, and take a dip into the corrupted waters of the Spring of Eternal Life. Along the way, she learns more about her own heritage, including uncovering a secret she never imagined!

No second-book syndrome here—the pacing is spot-on and Riley’s personal journey is compelling. The book also has a complete story arc while still leaving us plenty to look forward to in book three. This series is perfect for kids who love magic, mythology and adventure!

I was delighted to see Riley and Hattie’s relationship evolve in this book. They were one of the highlights of The Last Fallen Star, and as an only child, sibling dynamics are always special to me. These two have a loving relationship, but it isn’t always easy—which makes it all the more realistic. Both Oh sisters grow a lot over the course of Fallen Moon, and each one finds their purpose. Riley gains a lot of confidence by the end of this book, and Hattie speaks on behalf of herself in a way we haven’t seen before. I love that they’re on two different paths and yet always on the same side.

I loved the way Graci Kim envisioned the Spiritrealm for The Last Fallen Moon. Not only did she address the more traditional depictions of the underworld, but she reimagined it in a clever and new way. It truly made this part of the universe feel upbeat and modern, but never let you forget its ancient origins. We also meet a few fun characters, like Dahl, who is larger than life and certainly not a character I’ll forget any time soon. From the way he looks and speaks to his true identity and secret desires, I found myself constantly intrigued by his presence.

While Riley does learn how truly capable she is, I appreciated that this book was about family and community as well. Riley wanted to strike out on her own and fix what she thought she broke—to prove to her family she could do it—but isolating yourself from everyone around you is often not a good solution. She has an army of people at her back, and when she finally realized that, she became even more powerful.

Most sequels in a trilogy struggle to be anything more than a transition between the first book and the third, but I'm happy to report that this novel is more about Riley’s spiritual journey than a physical one. Yes, it sets her up to be ready for what’s to come in The Last Fallen Realm, but Riley gains some major puzzle pieces in this book. Now that she’s found her footing and has a better idea of what she’s up against, watching her save the world in The Last Fallen realm will be much more satisfying.
