This is an awesome book full of misunderstandings, murder and love.
"I can think of the perfect way to keep you occupied and your mind diverted," she murmured. "Come to my room. If you're not too tired..."
Lust flashed in his gaze and then he caught her face between his hands and kissed her. "For you, my beautiful Artemis, I'd stay up all night."
Artemis Jones-"respectable" finishing-school teacher by day and Gothic romance writer by night-has never lost sight of her real dream: to open her own academic ladies' college. When Artemis is unexpectedly called upon by a dear friend, a fellow Byronic Book Club member, to navigate her first London Season, she comes at once. Who knows, perhaps she can court the interest of a wealthy patron for her school. As long as she can avoid her high-handed aunt's schemes to marry her off.
Dominic Winters, the widowed Duke of Dartmoor, needs a wife-someone who will provide him with an heir and help him to manage his spitfire adolescent daughter. The problem is, Society has dubbed him "The Dastardly Duke." Rumors are rife that he murdered his mad wife so his choices for a suitable bride are limited. But then he meets the ravishing and passionate Artemis Jones who might just be everything he needs.
Amy Rose Bennett has written another good book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Artemis Jones what an imposing name. I absolutely loved this story. It is refreshing sometimes to read about Heroine that are not Virgin. The Book cover was awesome. Great chemistry between the two leads from the get go. Great pace. Great secondary characters. Great steamy scenes through out the book. This is a keeper from Amy Rose Bennett.

The Duke, Rumors, Scandals:
My first time reading this author's writing. I really enjoyed the characters, and the plot was complex to say the least.
The story is about two people who have a troubled past. They meet and we follow them on their journey of discovering whether they will fall in love or just enjoy their time together for a little while.
Several laugh out loud moments, mischievous activity, passion, many heartfelt confessions but one that leads to a shocking discovery for one of the characters.
A delightful fully solid story that was enjoyable to read.
I did receive an early review copy for my honest opinion.

Up All Night with a Good Duke is the first book in a new series by Amy Rose Bennett and I adored this book so much! All I knew before going in was that the heroine was a “respectable” finishing school teacher by day, gothic romance writer by night and the hero was a widowed, single father Duke and I was sold!

Miss Artemis Jones is 29 when the story starts off and has been working at the Avon Academy for Young Ladies of Quality in a teaching position at the exclusive young ladies’ finishing school in Bath. Born the daughter of a vicar, her only real ties to society is her Aunt who is a dowager baroness. Artemis has been writing her scandalously delicious gothic romance novels for years and saving the money from those to one day open her own academic ladies’ college. When her childhood friend Lucy writes saying she’s in desperate need of Artemis’ help with her season, Artemis heads off to London to help. When she arrives in town, she meets Dominic Winters, the widowed Duke of Dartmoor, and sparks fly right away between the two. They end up going separate ways but run into one another again and again in the next few days.

Dominic is 38 and in need of a wife—someone to provide him an heir and help him in managing his spitfire, 15-year-old daughter Celeste. The problem is society has dubbed him “The Dastardly Duke” with rumors swirling that he murdered his late wife years ago. Because of this, his prospects aren’t as easy to come by. After having a few, fun run-ins with Artemis, she comes to him with a proposition. She wants his help in staging her own ruination to get her aunt off her back about marrying and so she can focus on opening her women’s college, in exchange she will help him with his daughter. But things don’t go quite as planned and in the moment he ends up proposing an “engagement of convenience” instead!

I loved everything about this read! Artemis and her friends Byronic Book Club, Artemis’ growing friendship/relationship with his daughter Celeste, Artemis and Celeste bonding over gothic romance novels (including the ones Artemis writes under her pen name), lots of time at bookshops, Artemis offering up Jane Austen book recs for his daughter, his country estate trip, the moors. I loved seeing Artemis’ frank conversations with Celeste about men, love versus being ready for the consequences that come with engaging in relations with men, contraception, diseases, and all things relating to “the talk” that Celeste missed out on by having a mother. I liked seeing Celeste’s own complicated relationship with her sister Phoebe and their aunt, things don’t go smoothly but I liked how it was handled. And of course, I loved the chemistry and banter with Dominic and Artemis! Their conversations and interactions were so fun to see, I loved how honest they were with one another and really share so much of themselves with one another. Plus this book is hot and delivered on all the steamy times! 🔥 I just really believed in them as a couple, loved their romance and passion, and their story so much! Can’t wait to check our more from this author in the future!

A Byronic Hero and a brazen bluestocking, who spouts clever curses-such as "Lucifer's love truncheon"-collide in this intriguing first book in a series.

Artemis Jones is a heroine who has strong ideals and goals that drive her to ensure her independence from a the institution of marriage. But when Artemis meets Dominic Winters, the widowed Duke of Dartmoor, she is absolutely intrigued by the passion that he evokes in her. Dominic feels the same way, and the story whisks these two into a whirlwind of a fake engagement and more obligations than Artemis bargained for.

I found the story entertaining and I enjoyed the second half far more than the first half of the book. The second portion of the story had tension, nefarious characters with less than noble intentions, and a more enjoyable portion of Artemis and Dominic's romance arc.

What I found to be the most intriguing about this book was the author's almost fourth wall commentary on romance novels. Artemis's dialogue conveyed the defenses romance readers have to make even to this day. The heroine's comments are also a bit cheeky in that they comment upon romance novels such as the exact one that Amy Rose Bennett is writing-I found it to be a brilliant tactic on the author's part. And I know my commentary is a bit oblique, but being that this is an arc review, I cannot reveal too much. But I would recommend watching for those quotes, they gave an amusing and intelligent slant to the structure of this story.

3-3.5 stars!

We meet our heroine, Artemis Jones, in 1858 England, returning to London with the goal of helping a friend through the Season and trying to find a way to fund her dream of a girls college. Dominic Winters, the Duke of Dartmoor, has his hands already full trying to raise his willful daughter. A wife would help, but it’s hard to find a woman willing to marry him when London society calls him ‘The Dastardly Duke’ to his face and gossips that he might’ve had a hand in his wife's death behind his back.

The two of them meet and eventually figure out they might be able to solver both of their problems if they work together. Their romance is what I enjoyed most in this book, their banter and the mature development was very nice to read about.

The thing that kind of dragged my enjoyment of this book down was that the plot deviated from the romance a lot: there was just too much going on plot-wise. While I didn’t enjoy the myriad of side-plots I have to admit I was very pleased with how these plots all were wrapped together in the end.

Let's be honest: it was the cover and title that drew me initially to this book. Just absolutely swoon-worthy and makes a reader excited crack open the book.

Once I did crack open the book (virtually, at least), the writing was easy and super funny. Artemis's alliterative cursing had me laughing out loud multiple times and the book was actually way spicier that I expected it to be (+1 to the author for that). But around the 25% mark, things were going so well between Artemis and Dominic that it felt like . . . the book was over? To give you a better sense of how I felt, here's one of my reading updates: "Artemis and Dominic are very good at communicating. So dang communicative and reasonable and . . . absolutely underwhelming."

And that's pretty much how the rest of the book went. Just overall a little underwhelming. I thought there'd be a lot more about Artemis's attempt to build a women's college, but most of that time was spent in Artemis fixing Dominic's relationship with his teenage daughter (yep, Artemis put in the majority of the work).

This will probably appeal to a lot of historical romance readers. For me, it fell short of being interesting.

This book is entertaining and interesting, it kept me hooked from start to finish, it's my first book by the author but it definitely won't be the last.

Up All Night with a Good Duke is set in London, in the 1850s. Artemis is a girl who has many aspirations and she wants to get rid of her aunt's insistence to get married, Dominic is a duke who has a rebellious teenage daughter and urgently needs help with her. They meet and after starting off on the wrong foot, they talk a few times and then they formulate a plan to help each other.

I loved the characters and all their scenes together, the banter between Dominic and Artemis, wow, my tablet almost spontaneously combusted, their chemistry was palpable through the pages, pure fire.

Definitely if you like historical romance this is entertaining and captivating, with a good dose of steamy scenes, and perfect humor. Highly recommended

Thank you Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for this arc. ❤️

This book has made me so happily giddy
I kept on the grinning the entire time whilst reading it. Sensational is the best word to come to mind to describe up all night with a good duke.

Our lovely heroine, Artemis, is strong-minded, independent, intelligent, startling and so much fun. She was the driving force in the book since the very beginning. Her struggles are still very relatable to this day. And to put the cherry on top, she is a mysterious gothic, romance writer.
( I wanna be her when I grow up🥺). It's safe to say we lucked out with this heroine. ❤️

All I have to say about our charming hero, Dominic, is that he's a softie boy at heart. 🥺

The unique cursing was really appreciated on my part. 🤭 All these adorable, sweet moments made me super happy and a tad lonely. 😶

At last I'm going to be reading a whole lot of ARB's books. ❤️

A teacher with a secret identity as a Gothic novelist and a duke with the sobriquet-the Dastardly Duke of Dartmoor" - due to the circumstances of his wife's death look for theor own HEA in this Victorian Era romance.

Amy Rose Bennett is one of my favorite authors. I love her enough to own both print books and ebooks and will also likely own audiobooks by her as well - ensuring I can read my favorite stories anytime I want to do so.

So it pains me a bit to leave this review.

Let me start off by saying - this book is not a bad book. It is worth reading (if nothing else but because it is setting up a series and introducing characters).

The hero and the heroine are mostly honest with each other and they talk to each other about necessary events preventing any and all misunderstandings. Their relationship can only be described as two mature adults acting like mature adults should. They are seriously open with each other. They clearly define their expectations of the other as they understand them at the time and are similarly minded in both the things of the heart (particularly in the beginning) and in their politics, both being progressive thinkers. Neither one are particularly tempestuous or overly passionate in temperament.

No big misunderstanding to drive the plot.
No huge temperamental blow-ups.
Everyone is honestly just trying to do the right thing.

So what then is the problem?
The couple is rather bland and predictable. They are too good in character and their flaws are small and few. I don't want to use the word boring here, but - I'm not a writer and am not sure how else to sum the couple up. Aside from some pretty hot moments of one-handed library shelf grabs by the duke, even their sex-life was pretty mundane - their lovemaking was quietly respectful and mutually passionate.
I wish had the duke been a bit more - I don't know - just *more* - in the bedroom. It was more - we've been married for 25 years and know everything about what makes our sex life enjoyable- kind of sex. It was missing the rawness that new passion can bring.

I normally don't like irredeemable villains in the books I read, but I found myself *thankful* for the one in this book as he made the story interesting and this redeemed the book somewhat.

Now with that said, there are some strong reasons to pick this book up and power through it.
1. The author is typically amazing and this is a series starter.
2. My guess is the series will pick up and be better. Series starters can suffer the problems this book has in my opinion.
3. You want a nice quiet read with relatively low-angst, a couple bent on having a mature adult relationship with no tantrums or misunderstandings. You like your heroes a bit cinnamon-rolly.

I am very interested in what happens with the single women in this book. Bennett excels at writing female friendships, and I am excited to see these relationships fleshed out in the women's respective books.

Don't miss this gem! The author's trademark sensuous love scenes, quirky touches and page-turning writing are all here, better than ever. Adore the creative swearing - Lucifer's love truncheon - ha! Another stunning series, and I cannot wait for the next installment - a botanist heroine.

A thoroughly wonderful romance that is perfect for any adult collection. I was completely invested in it from start to finish, and can see it circulating well!

Amy Rose Bennett is one of my favorite authors and she just keeps getting better and better. I received an ARC of "Up All Night With A Good Duke" from Netgalley. All opinions and thoughts are my own about this advanced copy review. This is the first book in her new series of The Byronic Book Club. The story is about Artemis Jones, an educator by day, and a Gothic author in her free time. She bumps into
Dominic Winters, the 5th Duke of Dartmoor, aka the Dastardly Duke of Dartmoor, not once but twice, as if they are meant to meet and be something together. They each have their own plans and Artemis' hopes never to marry, so that she can open an academy dedicated to teaching women all that men are taught. There is an immediate attraction between these two fabulous strong characters, and through some unforeseen circumstances, they end up in a temporary engagement of convenience. The story moves beautifully with some beautiful flow of words, along with some romance and heart break. I absolutely adored this story and can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I enjoyed this story full of wit and humor. The couple had burdens from the past and admitted they didn't suit each other, except that they do, in every way. The main characters are very likeable and admirable while the villains are so deviously detestable.

I received an ARC of this book and leaving my review voluntarily.

England - 1858

Miss Artemis Jones has big plans for her future, but first, she must navigate the present. Her hopes are to start a ladies college, however she has to find some way to finance it. As a secret aside, Artemis writes Gothic romances under the name of Lydia Lovelace, but the income from these books, as well as her salary as a teacher at the Avon Academy for Young Ladies of Quality, will never be enough to open her own school. She must find a wealthy donor to help her. That opportunity may come along when Artemis receives a letter from her close friend, Lucy, begging for Artemis to join her in London as Lucy's father is forcing her to have a Season, and hopefully procure a suitable husband. So Artemis tenders her resignation, departing for London on the next train.

Upon arrival at Paddington Station, Artemis attempts to hire a cab to take her to her Aunt Roberta's house, where Artemis' sister, Phoebe resides. But she runs into a large man who causes her carpetbag to fall open, spewing her books onto the street. The man begs her pardon, and, for a moment, Artemis is stunned by the handsome devil bowing before her. He insists that she take the cab, and she does, but she'll not easily forget the man's face.

Dominic Winters, the fifth Duke of Dartmoor, is intrigued by the lovely red-haired bluestocking. But he has other things he needs to concentrate on. A widower who is known in the ton as the Dastardly Duke for the wrongful rumors that he murdered his ailing wife, Dominic has an adolescent daughter in dire need of a woman's influence. Celeste is fifteen and a veritable handful for her governess. But with his reputation, finding a wife willing to take on his daughter as well as his past, Dominic isn't too hopeful. He is curious, however, to discover that his daughter seems to have an interest in the same books that the red-haired beauty was stuffing back into her bag.

But life has a way of finding answers at times, and when Dominic and Artemis run into each other at her friend's family's book store, it's apparent that both have similar interests in one another. Later, at a ball that Artemis is forced to attend, she and Dominic dance, sending the rumor mill into a tizzy. This sets Artemis to thinking about a plan to show her aunt that Artemis needs to be off the matrimonial scene. When she gets Dominic to agree to her idea, as well as to help her with her future plans, Artemis thinks everything will be wonderful. What could go wrong?

Book one of the Byronic Book Club, UP ALL NIGHT WITH A GOOD DUKE is a lively trip through the London society scene where a woman's reputation can destroy her future, but a man's antics are brushed aside. Although Dominic's public persona has been trashed by rumors, he is still a duke. For Artemis, at almost thirty years old, and a bluestocking, rumors are not helpful. How these two work out various issues makes for a fun read.

Well written, with great, well-rounded characters, UP ALL NIGHT WITH A GOOD DUKE is delicious!

A pleasantly surprised 4.5 out of 5 stars!!!

I had never read anything by Amy Rose Bennett but I'm so happy that I received an ARC from NetGalley for this because I now know just how great of a writer she is! You know the special and quiet and intimate feeling a book by our Queen Lisa Kleypas has? Yeah, that magic... well Up All Night with a Good Duke had that. It was DETAILED and DELIGHTFUL! Just like a Lisa Kleypas book. Where this book lacked the Kleypas-like energy was the sex. The loss of half a star is due to the briefness of the sex scenes once we were in the sex scenes. Like so much tension between them and then boom kind of quick to finish in each one. I want all the dirty talk, I want all the straddling, I want all of it and I want that coming from Dominic and giving it to his governess. SO IF WE COULD JUST NEXT TIME GET SOME MORE DETAIL AND DIRTY TALK AND PRAISE, I WOULD ADORE THAT!!

Sometimes the governess trope just hits right and boy oh boy did this book ever do just that. This book just did so many good things, which is 1. Have a hero named Dominic and 2. Have said hero named Dominic who is lonely and broody but wants to ravish you our heroine grab her about the waist and pin her to his shelves in his office after she goes for the job interview to be his daughter’s governess. Yes and yes and yes.
Also, I love it when authors do lots of research and then just effortlessly weave this historical research into the book. So when Jane Austen books were discussed, I was absolutely giddy.

I will most definitely purchase the physical copy of this book when it is published, since I need to have this on my bookshelf to constantly have access to Dominic's grabbing of Artemis around her waist and pinning her to his bookshelves in his study.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this ARC! All thoughts and opinions on this book are my own.

“Yes, remove your hand from Miss Jones’ person before I remove it for you”
“Oh, oh … Beelzebub’s ballocks, and Mephistopheles’s member, and Lucifer’s love truncheon”
“A Byronic hero in the flesh”
This book was … GREAT !!! I honestly think that I have a thing for tutors or governess and their employers in regency romance … especially if he is a widower and looking for a wife !!!!
Artemis is as wild and as untamed as her namesake and I honestly couldn’t love and respect her more for everything she went through and overcame !!!
And Dominic is as much a Byronic Hero as he is a perfect gentlemen !!!
I loved every second of their relationship and their banter, their mutual attraction that by a certain point becomes unbearable to hide !!!!
How they came to a mutual understanding where both parties would have satisfied !!!!
And when books are involved … I’m in for a ride !!!!
But do we want to talk about the spice ??? Well let’s say that I felt “enchanted”, “enthralled” and “enraptured” !!!!
I’m so glad I could read this book and I’m sure even the other novels in this series will promise big surprises and a huge entertainment!!
“Just like a certain flame-haired siren who had the ability to make him forget about his all-too-painful past whenever he was with her”
“Truth to tell, I’ve been having fantasies about kissing you all day”
“I find that a little teasing makes the pleasure sweeter”
“Impatient minx”

Up All Night with a Good Duke, by Amy Rose Bennett. I loved it! I loved it! I absolutely one hundred percent loved this wonderfully written historical romance novel. Mrs, Bennett has outshined her writing in this book.
I was captivated my the romance, the passion from some illicit sexual nights and the heartfelt emotions of being able to love no matter what. I loved the joy and the sometimes rough challenges of putting one’s self out on display for everyone to see and face the tons judging ways. Artemis and Dominic had each other to lean on during these times. I loved how the writer created a story line that was able to real in the the hopeless romantics out there. Believe when I say this book is really good and the love making is wild.
I found the story exciting and the book very entertaining. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!
