A new Duke series - SOLD!!!

Up All Night with a Good Duke is the first in The Byronic Book Club series, and boy did it live up to the hype. The chemistry between the love interests burns through the pages. Their insta-attraction turns to lust in the sheets as they navigate the Tons whispers about each of their respective lives.

Artemis ran for the countryside after her first season after falling prey to wrong kind of man. And the Dastardly Duke, as he is referred, tragically lost his wife years ago but rumors swirl he had something to do with her demise. A chance encounter on a rainy day have each lost in thoughts of each other until they connect at a ball.

What ensues is a scheme to trick Artemis' family so she can live her life on her own terms. What she didn't anticipate was falling in love with a Duke. The writing was beautiful, the storyline endearing and the steam, GULP. I look forward to the next in the series.

Thank you Sourcebooks for the complimentary copy of this novel.

I struggled with this book in parts. I was interested in the characters, and there were some good steamy scenes, but I think there were too many plot points to make it pace well. It seemed to drag in places and then was like a steam roller at the end with lots thrown in like kidnapping attempt and the shooting. This meant other things got mentioned like ghost and Artemis's parentage which came out of nowhere there had been no build up at all and it didn’t really matter. I’m still not sure why they didn’t get together from the start since there was no real impediment. I also hated all the alliteration for male parts like lucifer's love truncheon just made me cringe it was so cheesy, Despite this I'm giving it 4 stars because I did enjoy it. My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I really loved Artemis and Dominic's story. It sucked me right in and was almost impossible to put down. I loved how strong Artemis was and how Dominic was willing to give her the space to make up her mind. I also loved how he get the truth out of Miss Sharp and then put her in her place!
I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Artemis Jones is a finishing school teacher, who writes Gothic romance novels but her biggest dream is to open her own academic ladies' college. When one of her best friends requests her aid in navigating her season in London, she immediately resigns from her position to join her. She hopes to find a patron for her school while avoiding any schemes her aunt may concoct in order to marry her off.

Dominic Winters, the Duke of Dartmoor, is ready to marry again, he needs an heir and someone who can help him deal with his teenage daughter. But his choices are limited because the Duke has a notorious reputation (It is believed that he murdered his wife.) that keeps most of Society at a distance.

When he meets Artemis Jones she awakens feelings in him that he hasn't felt in a long time. There's no denying that Artemis finds Dominic attractive but she can't let herself be distracted from her goal of opening her school. Besides, there's no chance she'd make a suitable Duchess.

They strike a bargain to help one another. And pretty soon they find themselves falling in love.

Thank you so much to the author, Sourcebooks, and NetGalley for this ARC to review.

Miss Artemis Jones had a teaching position at the exclusive Avon Academy for Young Ladies of Quality in Bath. She was now sitting in the headmistress's office and being scolded for 'subjecting the girls to a frivolous and dangerous novel.' She continues that reading for pleasure was not on the curriculum and that the girls shouldn't be more knowledgeable than the men who would court them.

The headmistress believes that they only have studies in comportment and not the geography, literature and history subjects taught by Artemis. Then she sits in outrage when told that all of her novels have been removed from her private quarters and wouldn't be returned until she leaves their establishment. Her treasured Jane Austen collection. One more issue and she would be dismissed.

As much as she hated her job it was better than being paraded through London ballrooms like a prize cow for sale by her aunt, Lady Wagstaff. Her sister Phoebe was dying to marry but Artemis planned to keep her spinster status. She is just thankful that the headmistress hadn't found her manuscript...because her alter ego is Lydia Lovelace, a gothic romance author.

Before leaving the headmistress's office, she is handed a letter that had been delivered. When she ducks into the room next door she sees its a letter from her best friend, Lucy. She closes her eyes when she reads the letter and Lucy's request for her to be a companion for the upcoming season as her father is forcing her to marry.

This book is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. I loved Artemis and Dominic's story! Artemis is determine to avoid her aunt trying to marry her off and with the help of her friends Lucy and Jane plans her disgrace. Only the Duke of Dartmoor turned the tables on her and her plans.

This book is action-packed from page one and I couldn't put the book down. Artemis is hilarious in the lengths she will go to remain unmarried. Dominic is only accepted in Society due to being a duke as there were questions surrounding the disappearance of his wife years ago.

This book is suspenseful and smoking hot. This is the first time reading anything by Amy Rose Bennett and it definitely won't be the last!

This is my first book by Amy Rose Bennett, so I have no basis for comparison with her other books. That said, there were things I liked about this story and things I didn't. Artemis was an unusual character, which is fine, and the Duke was definitely forward-thinking for his position and time. Together they were fun and certainly, there was a lot of steam! What I didn't like was the "Angst Meter" going too far to the high mark, I am not a fan of high angst, There was a point in the story where I was beginning to expect the dead wife was going to show up and throw in more angst!

Overall it was a satisfying read and I give it 3.75 stars

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I absolutely love when one of the main characters is a writer. I feel like it sets up the story so much better and it feels more authentic.

Up All Night with a Duke features Artemis, a bluestocking teacher by day and a gothic romance novelist by night(complete with her own pseudonym!) and Dominic, a duke, a widow and more importantly a father of a fifteen year old.

I love their first meeting. It was like that first refreshing bite of a lemon start, super sweet but tart enough. It set up the scene and the momentum for the whole book.

Both MCs experienced so much growth throughout this book, Dominic in the end of the book is so swoon-worthy, I won't do spoilers, but honestly. The change in that man.

I loved this story! Artemis is a blue stocking who wants to be faked ruined so she can no longer worry about marriage and start her women’s college. Dominic is a widower duke who has lived with the rumors that he killed his first wife. They become engaged after the ruination and of course a happily ever after ensues. Wonderful characters including secondary characters. Only negative was that there were times the book felt long.

Three words – I loved it! Four words – I really loved it. What’s not to swoon over about this book? Bluestocking who secretly writes racy novels, a dastardly duke who loves playing the part, an ugly villain, a typical teenage daughter, older main characters, and some sexy times. This book really entails all that a romance should be. I have read a couple of Amy’s books and have a few more, so why I haven’t I gobbled her books up? Too many books out there but that is a good dilemma to be in. I thought this book was so romantic. I stayed up way to late reading it because it was so captivating. Oh and the title is very clever, good job Amy.

This was such a fun historical romance! I really enjoyed it. This is my first book by this author. I will definitely have to look into more of their books! The main character Artemis is a spinster who has no intentions of getting married. A fast read!
(Thank you to NetGalley for an arc).

I had the chance to read this in advance and it was a lovely Victorian historical romance about 2 misfits made for each other. Artemis and Dominic meet in an interesting way and then fall in love in spite of their differing social positions and lives.

I recommend it for anyone looking for a sexy, emotional historical romance with original characters.

Up All Night with a Good Duke by Amy Rose Bennett
🌟🌟🌟

This was a solid, fun historical romance. There’s a lot going on in this book!

Artemis Jones is a bluestocking with dreams of opening a school for girls. She returns to London to help accompany a friend and her sister in a Season, and has a chance encounter with a handsome stranger who turns out to be Dominic Winters, the widowed Duke of Dartmoore. Dominic has a teenage daughter and an unmerited bad reputation. Instant attraction and an engagement of convenience becomes more, and various intrigue/plot machinations are thrown into the mix.

🌶🌶🌶 high steam

I really enjoyed Artemis and Dominic's story. I just loved watching these two together. What a perfect match. What a great start to a new series!

Such a lovely story. The characters just pulled me in and I couldn’t put it down. Artemis is so lovely as a heroine but also different from most in the best ways. Dominic is definitely a grumpy hero and that is always a good thing. I just adored this story and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I loved every single thing about this book, from the great and engaging characters to the brilliantly paced plot that took off running and never slowed down.
Artemis being a writer of “salacious” novels and keeping that from everyone is a fun little twist that contributes to both the dramatic and fun bits of the story. Dominic being a widowed Duke shrouded in dark rumors is the perfect pair for the gothic-romance writing Artemis and you know it as soon as they crash into each other at first meeting. There’s twist and revelations, character studies and grand declarations, serious discussions and lost of very salacious scenes to enjoy.
The only thing I could possibly complain about it might be Bennett’ using an entire thesaurus’s worth adjectives while writing the steamier scenes. It brought me completely out of the story and the romance at times with just how ridiculous some of it is, but I really enjoyed the plot so much that I’m perfectly willing to forgive this.
Overall, it’s a near perfect romance that hits all the good spots.

Extremely happy thanks to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Dreamscape Media for brilliantly romantic and entertaining read!

Such a beautiful romance!

Artemis is the heroine we all hope we'd be if we lived in the 1850s. She's been saving for years to open a real school for young women, one that will fully educate their minds rather than simply prepare them for marriage, so she's on the lookout for a benefactor to underwrite the costs while her oppressive aunt is determined to marry her off.

Dominic has his hands full with his teenage daughter. Widowed for nine years, he vows never to love again, but he needs an heir so he finally agrees to consider marrying again. A chance meeting with Artemis inspires him to ask for her help with his daughter, and this unlikely friendship very quickly becomes overwhelmed with insatiable desire.

I could not put this story down. It was charming and captivating and informative on several levels. (How have I gone this long without knowing that Mary Wollstonecraft was the mother of Mary Shelley?) With a strong focus on women's rights, a few substantial secrets on both sides, and an intellectual connection that is even stronger than their physical attraction, this story checks all my boxes and presents characters that are as memorable as they are inspirational.

There's a dastardly villain, of course, and it's not who the ton think it is. Justice prevails in the end, and we're treated to a very satisfying HEA. I loved all the literary references, and how they proved that even when times change, people essentially remain the same.

This author is one of my all-time favorites for historical romance, and this book is a fine example of her immense talent. I couldn't have loved it more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Up All Night with a Good Duke
by Amy Rose Bennett
Narrated by Sasha Higgins

I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I adore historical romances and this one did not disappoint. Our heroine is independent, relatively self sufficient for her time and a little saucy. Our hero despite being a super hot widowed Duke has a ruined reputation. He doesn’t really care what others think but he has a 15 year old daughter who really needs a mom type figure and he needs an heir so into the fray he goes. The chemistry between these two is unreal. I loved every minute. 5/5

Artemis Jones was a teacher in a finishing school, though not a very happy one. She has left her position to attend the Season with her friend. She is also the author of Gothic romance novels. She tries to keep that tidbit a secret. Her dream is to establish a college for young women. Dominic Winters, the widowed Duke of Dartmoor, would like to find a wife to help him with his sometimes-unruly teenaged daughter. Finding said wife won’t be easy since it continues to be rumored that he murdered his first wife. He didn’t, of course, but gossip is what it is. Their story begins when they bump into each other in the rain, twice. This is an exciting and entertaining story with wonderful characters; a delightful romance filled with wit and humor, romance, a bit of steam, and a dose of danger. A great start to a new series. I look forward to the next story.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. Up All Night with a Good Duke by Amy Rose Bennett is the first book in her intriguing new series The Byronic Book Club. This book was so much fun to read. I love a good Duke story especially one where the hero has a nickname like The Dastardly Duke and is suspected of perhaps murdering his mad wife. The frustrated father of an adolescent female who has him feeling that he can never make a right step Dominic Winter, Duke of Dartmoor needs a wife badly, of course with his dastardly reputation his choices are limited until he meets fiery and passionate Artemis Jones and realizes that really there is only one choice. Artemis Jones is a teacher at a staid finishing school who dreams of opening up her own academy to provide girls with an education that does not include only embroidery, watercolours and ballroom dancing. She also has a secret alias as the writer of gothic romance novels. When her best friend and fellow book club member writes and asks for her help navigating the season, she promptly quits her position and heads off to London. She hopes that in addition to providing support for her friend and also her sister because she knows firsthand how difficult a season can be, she can find a sponsor for her academy, all while avoiding her aunt's matchmaking machinations. Once in London her life seems to be echoing one of her novels with a handsome hero, a nastly villain and all manner of adventures. I devoured this book in less than a day because I couldn't bear not to find out what happened next. Steam Level: Medium. I'm so thankful to both Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for sending me this ARC!

I loved how progressive Artemis was, and I loved her relationship with Celeste, Dominic's daughter. I loved the emphasis on sex education too because that's something you literally never read in a historical romance. I also really enjoyed Dominic. And this setup is SO fun - a bluestocking romance writer who falls for a stodgy duke with a bad reputation? Sign me up.
