I am the biggest fan of the Little People Big dreams Series. The information is always great and the illustrations are really nice too. This one is all about the life of the famous artist Pablo Picasso. This whole series is a great collection for children and libraries!

One of my favourites in this excellent series. The illustration is simply stunning, each page jam packed with wonderful vibrant colours and details. My art-loving 7 year old found the story of Pablo Picasso really fascinating. There's a page in the book which is all blue indicating a sad time in Picasso's life and this generated a really interesting discussion between myself and my daughter about colours, moods and emotions. Another great addition to the 'Little People, Big Dreams' series. Many thanks to the publisher for the opportunity to review.

I love this series. I was even more excited to see an artist (working in the arts myself) to share some of my passion with my little ones. These books are such an asset to any child's library, educational, inspiring and fun!

Pablo Picasso is the newest lead in this latest edition of the Little People, BIG DREAMS series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. This series is such a delight and the perfect way to educate not just kids but everyone about historic and cultural icons.

Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and theatre designer who spent most of his adult life in France. The book follows Picasso as he attends a prestigious art school in Barcelona to his influence in creating Cubism.

Teresa Bellón illustrates this installment and does a fantastic job. Bellón's art style was so captivating and her art definitely further helped tell Picasso's story. I love collecting these books and am so thrilled to add this one to the rest of my collection.

I'm not a huge Picasso fan but this was pretty interesting. I think the art style works well when talking about Picasso.

This book is so well done, and the illustrations are stunning - I think this is my favorite in the "Little People, Big Dreams" series thus far. Picasso and his work are introduced in a way young children can understand and relate to. I loved the way the author brought the topic of emotion and feeling influencing art into the story. Yes, there are large gaps in terms of Picasso's shameful treatment of women (no mention at all of his wives in the book), but for a first introduction to art and the artist, this is fantastic.

This Picasso edition of this children's series was an interesting one. I actually didn't know all of this about Pablo Picasso (and I took Art History in college with a section studying him). That was pretty cool to see such an inspirational artist for young ones who love art to see him become such a success in his own style. The only thing I think was lacking was just how unique his style was....even though he studied and tried out other styles also. To me, that's a big part of his inspiration. That his work was unlike anyone else's and he owned it so wholly. But all in all, a great little book.

Very cute illustrations and terrific information. We love these books. The author gives enough information that it gets little ones intrigued about the subject but not so much it goes over their head. We ended up looking at Pablo Picasso’s art after.

This was a fine entry into the series! I didn't love it just because of the fact that Picasso likely wasn't a great guy, especially to women (and this book completely leave out all of his wives which plays into that).

I love the "Little People, Big Dreams" series and I was surprised Pablo Picasso wasn't a part of it yet, so I was thrilled to see this. Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara made Pablo Picasso's story so meaningful. It discussed emotions, and how emotion can be expressed with a specific color, but also allowed for the talk of grief to exist and made it simple enough to explain it to a young child. The illustrations by Teresa Bellon were phenomenal, the intricate details, the color choices, the book can also be used as a vocabulary builder book using the illustrations alone. Great addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series.

We are huge fans of this entire series and this book did not disappoint-- in fact, it may be our new favorite. Reading about Picasso's life was inspiring, interesting, and thought-provoking. The amazingly bright, fun illustrations brought the book to life, but we equally loved that the use of color to show emotions was mentioned.

I love the Little People, Big Dreams series, it is great to learn about current and historical people and their accomplishments in a short picture/board book. It was interesting to learn about the reason for Picasso's "Blue period" and his "Rose period", and also to learn that his first word was pencil.

Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Pablo Picasso is a short picture book with fun, vibrant illustrations about the life of Pablo Picasso. The illustrations are bright and engaging enough to keep children interested. I wish they had used Braque's full name in the text of the book and included at least one image of a Picasso painting, but I assume there may have been a copyright issue there. This book is a great introduction to the life of Picasso, a painter whose work has always appealed to children.

Picasso is such an enigmatic artist, and readers of all ages will enjoy reading about his life and his journey through art. The illustrations in this biography are colorful, inviting, and inspiring. I enjoyed the nod to his blue period by showing Picasso gathering all the blue paints and pigments with teary eyes. There's certainly a bit of tongue in cheek humor to the illustrations, but all in all very respectful of this important artist.

I recommend this to all readers who are interested in art history and the details about Picasso's life!

First of all, the illustrations by Teresa Bellon are EXQUISITE! My niece and nephew have picked up this book several times just to ‘get lost’ in the scenes of Picasso’s life. Each time they look at them, they see something else! We agree that this is the best-illustrated book in this series that we've read.

With growing up in an artistic household, and his first word being ‘pencil,’ it’s easy to see that Picasso was destined for artistic greatness. Yet, Vegara writes to reveal that success for Picasso didn’t always come easy. Readers will discover why he burned some of his paintings, why exhibitions in Paris were so difficult, and why for two years his works were entirely painted in blue.

I had an ‘ah-ha’ moment when I realized the location for Picasso’s first Parisian exhibition was the same name as our local children’s art studio!

Key things we learned were that all children are artists, we should never stop trying to paint like a child, and that even when things get tough, we should believe in our own talents. I plan on continuing to foster my niece and nephew’s artistic talents because I know how important it is to keep a dream alive.

As much for children as it is for adults, this book is a must-have in every home with children! Keep fostering the dream and keep the artist within alive…the road to success needs to be lined with supportive cheerleaders. Thank you for this 5-star glimpse into the life of one of the world's greatest artists of the 20th century. It's easy to read, flows well, highlights the important facts, and gives little readers encouragement to keep their dreams big.

From Picasso we learn that art has no form. With him, it changed form, and created new dimension. This is Pablo Picasso, who starts painting since young age, and with time, his vision and mission changed.

This book always encourage children, one way or another. Although I can't understand Picasso's style, but some might enjoy his paintings. It proofs that his way of thinking can be received by others.

The ‘My First Little People, Big Dreams’ series provides informative and inspirational biographies about people who left a mark on this earth, no matter what difficulties they have encountered.
These stories are very short, but that’s because they’re books for children, so it’s totally understandable.
I think they are a very smart and wonderful way to introduce little children to such important figures.
This little book tells the story of the great painter Pablo Picasso. I'm a big fan of his works, so it was really nice to read about him and his life in this colorful and entertaining way!

A biography as colorful and creative as the artist himself. This little gem on the life of Pablo Picasso introduces young kids to one of graphic art's greatest talents of the 20th century. An abridged timeline at the end provides further detail on the artist's life. Artwork is stylized in a kid-friendly cubist style. A perfect little read to inspired future painters.
