This book was good! I enjoy Katee Robert in all her forms and this definitely did not disappoint. I do think that the first book in this series Neon Gods set a precedence that this book does not quite meet, however it was still a joy to read and a great experience over all.

It was good to get me out of a reading slump but I feel like all of Katee Robert's books are just surface level and don't have much substance to them.

I loved Eros and Psyche as characters - their personalities, their chemistry, their interactions. That alone should've made this a great story.

This being the second book in the Dark Olympus series, we get a few more glimpses into the society and supporting cast, and I'm curious about it, but we still don't know much more. This is a problem, to me - we SHOULD know more by now. This leads me to my main issue with Eros and Psyche's storyline: we don't really know WHY they are supposed to be enemies. And it takes some of the wind out of the sails, the urgency out of the plot, the forbidden-ness out of the romance.

Not to be dramatic but the narration in this book is GOD TIER. Like it completely brought this story to life in a way that I just was like is this a joke? Was this made on a Netflix show-level budget? No, but actually it brought the story to life in a way that made it play almost like a movie in my head. Both of the voice actors have the most attractive voice that just made the steamy scenes especially so hot and so fun to listen to.

Onto the story... I loved it. For me, this smashed the first one out of the water. Is that the saying smashed? It seems like it could also be splashed? ANYWAYS I digress... Psyche and Eros are just perfect. I mean Psyche being a body-positive badass b was just everything. and Eros being obsessed with her was everything and more. It is Katee Robert so let's be real the smut is always good... but I feel like in this book it just was next level. I just think from start to finish this book had drama, spice, a consistent pace, and simultaneously realistic themes with a fun more modern-day mythological twist. I thought this book was a perfect read and I enjoyed it immensely.

a far better follow up to neon gods, with more depth to the characters than instant attraction, electric idol gives a rounded, confidant psyche who helps a wounded eros and ends up in the headlines once a photo is taken of the pair. in order to save psyche from a death at his hands, eros concocts a plan: marry me or die. it shouldn’t work, but it does.

i enjoyed the narrators who brought extra life to the characters, breathing into each sentence and action from start to finish. the steam delivers and the final conflict is one that doesn’t come from miscommunication, which i ultimately enjoy. the turn of events towards the end leaves me wanting for more and i can’t wait to listen to the next installment of this series.

I’m so glad I was influenced by Bookstagram to read this series. I love it! While I thought Neon Gods was better, Electric Idol is a close second for me. I enjoyed the extra drama, spicy scenes, and main characters’ development. Highly recommend this book!

After reading Neon Gods, I was very excited to read Electric Idol. Retellings of mythology and add in some spice? Yes, please!

This installment follows Eros and Psyche. He's supposed to kill her, but he doesn't. After a conversation, he decides that he'll marry her instead of taking her out. Interesting, right? She is angry about it and wants to annoy him. But, surprise, surprise, they fall for each other. If you're a fan of enemies to lovers and slow burn/angst then you'll love this one.

I do think that Neon Gods has more spice, and Electric Idol is a bit more tame. It still has spice, but it's more of an expected, generic spice. It's still a good time though.

The narrator is awesome - I have no complaints. I thought the emotional portrayal was done well, and the spice was told in a way that wasn't cheesy.

I LOVED this second Dark Olympus novel. More than the first. Eros is a villain you hate and then find out why he is that way and you love him even more. The dual POV is also fabulous and is a fast paced thriller romance that is a new troupe I want all the time! I have to kill you or you marry me troupe!

I really enjoyed Neon Gods (a standalone) but I absolutely LOVED Electric Idol (a standalone). Psyche and Eros were everything!

What I Loved:
1. Psyche was a curvy heroine, and Katee Roberts nailed it. Everything from the way the hero views her and loves or her body, to the way Katee Robert shows how society subjects women to their views of beauty. I loved that she was this fashionista.
2. Eros was my favorite type of anti-hero (light on the anti). He saw himself as a monster, damaged, unworthy of love, and Psyche saves him. His protectiveness of Psyche was chef’s kiss.
3. Marriage of convenience trope was done well. I loved how they fell in love and came together.
4. The plot line with Aphrodite and the conflict is one of my favorites.
5. The steam was great, but we expect that with a Katee Robert novel.
6. I love this modernized world of the Olympians and Olympus.
7. I enjoyed the narrators on this one.

What I didn’t love:
1. The narrators voicing the other characters was sometimes not what I expected, but this is very hard to do, especially when there are so many characters. It didn’t hinder my overall enjoyment of the audiobooks and would still recommend it.
2. There did come a point in time when I just wanted them to admit their feelings, but it is marriage of convenience AND it is needed for the plot.

This one is definitely a must read! I really loved this story and couple, and I can’t wait for more.

Katee Robert never disappoints and I mean never. You will absolutely LOVE this book if you have read any of her previous work. Definitely pick up Neon Gods first to get the beginning of this story, but A+ all the way.

In an all new interpretation of the timeless story between Psyche and Eros comes Kate Robert’s new novel Electric Idol. I was approved for an advanced audiobook copy and did it add to the sultry allure of this dark romance. “ The audiobook was narrated by Alex Moorcock and Zara Hampton-Brown and gave their romance an added flair that heightened the listeners attention. The chemistry between these two actors was superb and I hope they narrate the continuation novel as well. The novels pace was just right as I completed it in two days. Overall I recommend it for those who have read the previous novel “Neon Gods”, and enjoy modern retelling of classic stories. I give the novel a strong four out of five stars on goodreads and would like to thank netgalley and dreamscape media for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. I enjoyed book 1 but this book tops it for sure. Maybe I'm just partial to a plus size heroine and a questionable hero with a soft spot for her. I love a good fake dating romance and this also had the perfect amount of push/pull that adds a good razzle dazzle to the story. I'll keep reading this series for sure! Keep them coming!

Thanks to NetGalley, Katee Robert and the publisher for the ARC.

"The woman showed me kindness once, and then I essentially followed her home like a feral cat and forced her to marry me."

Does that quote not say it all? I was as hopeless as Psyche when it came to resisting the pull of Eros and by the end of Katee Robert's Electric Idol I was ready to serve him my heart on a silver platter.

My original notes for my review were simply "loved him, loved her, loved them, yes!" I figured that time might make me more eloquent but in so many ways that little note sums up exactly how I felt about Electric Idol. It's as if Robert popped all of my favorite tropes into a blender and served it to me with a cherry on top.

Eros is a catnip hero for me—he's seen and done things that have scarred him and it makes him believe he's unworthy of Psyche. But instead of using that as a reason to push her away, he holds her close and dares the fates to try and take her from him. He facilitates between deadly and tender to be whatever she needs—equally ready to burn down the world if it hurts her or reverently worship her. But he's so used to handling what others ask of him, that he's unsure of what to do when Psyche begins to take care of him in return and I loved his vulnerability in learning to lean on her.

Then there's Psyche. I particularly love the way that Robert writes fat heroines and Psyche's frankness with Eros about the ways that she has fought to love her body rang so true to me. Roberts delivers a woman who is confident, who uses her power as an influencer to make the path easier for those who follow her, and who is also dealing with issues of fatphobia in the fashion industry that she loves and often needing to enlighten our hero about what she faces, no matter how perfect he sees her being.

I was rooting so hard for these two and their HEA every step of the way. I now have the audiobook as well so that I can relisten to this gem as I wait for Wicked Beauty!

-this audiobook arc was received from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for review-

I LOVE the narrators for the Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus series! I listed to Neon Gods and Electric Idol in succession and even though both narrators voiced the MCs for each one, they felt new and different and perfect for each book. I think Electric Idol was a little less exciting than Neon Gods, simply because we are exploring a limited reach of the upperworld/Olympus buuuut the drama and the spice were excellent. I loved Psyche and Eros with every fiber of my being and I’m very excited to see where the rest of the series goes!

Another fantastic book by Katee Robert! I love Eros and his love for Psyche, even when he doesn’t understand feelings. Loved seeing more in the world of Olympus and cannot wait for the next one!

I enjoyed the audiobook of this imaginative story of the romance between Psyche and Eros. I loved the body positivity and confidence, and the steamy scenes were hot! I haven't read Neon Gods, the first in the series, yet, but it wasn't necessary to enjoy this book. I can't wait to read it now and I'm looking forward to the next book too!!

Well Ladies, Katee Robert really out did herself with book 2. And I think it was even better than book 1. Don’t get me wrong I loved book 1. But this exceeded all my hopes. Steamy hot, these two were good for each other even if they didn’t know it! If there was just one word for this couple it would be adorable! This checked off all the boxes for me.
I chose to listen to this book on audio and felt like Alex Moorcock & Zara Hampton-Brown brought something really special to this story.
I highly recommend it.
Thanks Dreamscape Media via NetGalley.
