I did both audio and print format of this book. I really loved it and both narrators were amazing!
A steamy modern retelling of the Psyche and Eros story. Their families are enemies but when Aphrodite sends Eros to kill Psyche, he can't do it. To save Psyche they must come up with a plan. Their only solution is a fake relationship. They turn themselves Olympus' hottest new couple on social media but it's not all pretend!

Loved this book! It was hot and helped me end an annoying reading slump. It was addictive and kept me coming back for more.

Thank you so much to the publisher for the early audio!

I really enjoyed Eros and Psyche's story. We still got to hear a bit about Persephone and Hades too! Psyche's character is what I aspire to be. I am no longer plus sized but I previously was. It was so nice and refreshing to read about a plus sized character thats extremely confident and regularly described as beautiful. I wish to someday have even a sliver of her confidence.

This book also had the marriage of convenience trope which I haven't read many with this trope. It's a dark romance with a good amount of spice. Definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed this book. Overall I guess I loved the characters the most. They seemed so real despite everything that was happening. I did like this a little less than book one. But I’m still excited to read book 3

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced audiobook copy of ‘Electric Idol’ by Katee Robert. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have read the first book in this series and though I rated them the same, I did find I enjoyed the first book a little more. This series is called ‘Dark Olympus’ but I don’t really feel like it’s delivering on that. The world building is still confusing and/or nonexistent. I still feel like the names of the characters could be changed and the ‘Olympus’ element wouldn’t really be missed.

While this book doesn’t deliver on the ‘Dark’ element either, I did find Eros’ devotion of Psyche to be adorable. I wish men worshiped women that way in real life. The steamy scenes were fine but seemed a bit more tame when compared to the first book but I was okay with that. It didn’t feel like much happened and I didn’t fly through this as fast as the first book. I just didn’t feel the high stakes or urgency or life and death tension of the fake marriage arrangement. This kind of felt like a filler story to set up elements that will probably be important in the next books.

I think this was the same narrator as the first book but either the voices have grown on me or I’m used to them now but it didn’t seem like the male narrator was doing as weird a voice for the female characters.

Whether I’m approved for an ARC or not I will be picking up the next book. Based on the Wicked Villains series I am very interested in this author’s poly stories which is what is coming up in the third book.

Book 29 for 2022! 4/5 stars for this adult romance read! Katee Robert did it again yall! This romance retelling follows Psyche and Eros. Psyche has definitely been my favorite sister so far, but I didn't love Eros's character. The romance was a little fast for me as well. All in all, a great series, I cannot recommend enough if you enjoy spicy books!

Electric Idol is a continuation of Neon Gods focusing on Psyche and Eros. A modern take on Greek mythological characters with all the steam. Perfect for fans of enemies to lovers and fake dating.

Unspeakably hot. Wow. I loved this retelling, it was amazing! Katie Roberts has done again!! I loved that it connected to Neon Gods, and it will continue on in the next book, which is a Achilles and Patroclus retelling!

This was my first audiobook, and I loved it. It's a very immersive way of reading, and I enjoyed the narrators and how they vibed with each other. I love a marriage of convenience plot line, and this delivered. Possibly loved this more than Neon Gods - Katee Robert can do no wrong.

ELECTRIC AND MESMERIZING!! This modern retelling of Psyche and Eros is decadent and delicious!! I love this real, raw story. Katee put her heart and soul in her writing. Alex Moorcock and Zara Hampton-Brown are amazing!! #ElectricIdol #NetGalley

I was not aware that this book was part of a series. It was okay. I'm not a fan of this genre but was trying to step outside my comfort zone.

The quality of this second book in the Dark Olympus series is on par with the first. We get compelling political intrigue, revamped Greek myths, and some nice spicy scenes sprinkled in.

4.5 stars!!

Neon Gods is still my favorite (because Hades is such a cinnamon roll and I love him), but this was a great second book in the series! There was a little more of a central plot throughout this, and the angst was REAL! Can't wait for book three which I think might be a throuple??

I loved this so much. Eros was right up my alley. The sexuality rep in this was so good as was the fat rep. I highly enjoyed this and flew through it.
Alex Moorcock is perfection as Eros. The voice was spot on for what I imagined and made everything ten times hotter.

I did not read the first one and didn't realize that it was a series. Regardless, the concept was good and we are featuring the book in our center aisles.

A practical social media influencer heroine who is so much more than what she lets the world see? Check. A hero who is more than a little rough around the edges but actually a huge gooey cinnamon roll? Double check. I'm-supposed-to-kill-you-but-let's-get-married-instead goodness? Yup. This modern Greek mythology retelling is equally sweet and spicy and I could not put it down.

This one was so spicy while also being sweet. It has one of my favorite tropes fake marriage! I love Psyche. She is a wonderful sexy plus sized vixen. Aros was just what she needed. I highly recommend this one. Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This audio book is so good. The narrators are fantastic and I’m super picky about audio books.

I listened to the Neon Gods audiobook right before I listened to this one and since it was the same narrators I was afraid that it would sound too similar and I wouldn’t be able to separate the characters in my head but that was not the case at all.

I could not stop listening. This was so good. I am obsessed with this series and I need the third book now.

✨Hot assassin experiences tenderness for the first time in his life and falls head over heals: swooning is anticipated✨

This book had me in it’s CLUTCHES. I was invested from page one. The pining, the angst, the development of their relationship, all of it had my heart stinging in the best kind of pain.

I enjoyed Neon Gods, but I LOVED this one 😍😍😍

I had such high expectations for a retelling of one of my favorite Greek myths, and this did not disappoint.

Tropes:
💍 marriage of convenience
👫🏼 friends to lovers
❤️‍🔥 slow burn
👑 plus size heroine
🥰 scarred hero vibes / “you can’t love me, I am a monster”
🥵 forced proximity
🥺 pining
😫 angst
💖 hero falls first

As I read Electric Idol, I began to find myself in Psyche’s character. She was confident and strong. Not once did she let her size be her only personality trait. But that did not stop her from being real or vulnerable. She had insecurities and fears, but that did not make her weak

Watching Psyche find someone who saw her for who she was and loved her for it was honestly tear jerking.

I loved Eros’s character. If you like the scarred hero, “no one can love me,” kinda of vibe, you are going to love his character. I loved how he was always so ready to fight people who disrespected Psyche. It totally gave me the “who did this to you?” sort of feel that I know we are all suckers for 😩😩 Watching him fall for Psyche and allow himself to be loved did all sorts of things to my heart 🥺

I will say, this book does not focus on much else other than Eros and Psyche’s relationship. So if you are looking for intricate politics or a lush plot, just know that you might not find that in this. I do wish we got a more fleshed out conflict and external development as the story did fall flat at points, but that tends to be a desire I have from most of Robert’s books and I thoroughly enjoy them regardless.

The audiobook made my experience with this even better. I am not sure the British accents suited the characters, but they did a wonderful job regardless.

I can’t even conjure a cohesive sentence to tell you how much I loved this book. Please go read it 😍

My last try to get to read this book? In a house covered in mirrors, what will our two, chemistry charged MCs do? Read to find out 😉

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars | 🌶🌶🌶/5 steam

Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca, Dreamscape Media, Netgalley, and Katee Robert for an audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion ❤️

i am currently screaming crying throwing up sliding down a wall right now.

electric idol easily just added 15 years to my lifespan and i am absolutely thrilled about it. i loved neon gods so much and thought that it would be so hard to follow up but electric idol did not disappoint in one single way.

- fake-dating to marriage of connivence
- 'i-have-been-sent-to-kill-you-but-you're-gorgeous-so-marry-me' trope that was just spectacular
- SISTERS. i love that this book still gave me all of the sister content we got in neon gods and i loved it
- simply impeccable smut but this is katee robert we are talking about so i expect no less
- hurt/comfort: seriously, you will be hurt
- so much angst but then you're hit with fluff and it's all better
- an amazing set up for book three (wicked beauty) which i am desperate to get my hands on

also, this audiobook??? i don't listen to audiobooks that much just by itself because i'm usually doing chores whilst i'm listening. but there were so many parts of this book where i just sat and listened and adored it.

electric idol is a titan among greek mythology retellings and i beg of anyone to read it.
