Having enjoyed Neon Gods I was excited to get my hands on the next installment and meet new people in the world. I enjoyed that the MC wasn't just your average skinny MC, but thought that attempts to make her a larger character could have used a little touching up. Why do big girls need to smell cookies? This is not the first time I have seen this and honestly, I don't care for it. Overall it was a good quick listen though and I would like to continue reading more about this world.

Thank you so much for this free ALC of Electric Idol!

I still love Dark Olympus but this installment wasn’t as engaging for me. I think the audiobook wasn’t as easy to follow with names and pronunciations. I also didn’t feel the chemistry between the leads like I did with the first book. The spice was definitely still there, though.

For the part of the world building, the villain is almost even worse in this one than the last. She abuses and uses her own child in horrible, unforgivable ways.

I am going to read the print copy in a little while and see if it was just the narrators that took me out of the story.

The audio book for this was great. I loved that they used two voice actors to distinguish which characters perspective it was coming from. I also liked the story itself. The re-imagining and updating mythology into present day. I don't think I would have liked it as much if I read the book instead of listening to it.

#ElectricIdol:

Buckle up for another fun and spicy ride by Katee Robert! With a convenience marriage, a murder plot, and social media influencers, you’re in for a fun treat!

I thought it was really interesting that gods was more of a title than a god. Zeus wasn’t Zeus, but just the next person in line was called Zeus. I thought that dynamic was interesting and a fresh take. This is the second in the series of Dark Olympus, but can be read as a standalone. I felt enough background was given in regard to what happened previously.

Eros is arrogant but it’s not.. annoying? I.. like it and enjoyed him. What is life? I loved Psyche, and the way she carried herself. She was strong and confident, even though everyone made comments about her. The influencer representation and how not everything is what it seems online was such a different and unique way to add to this world. Also, Psyche is plus sized, and I felt her comments about her journey was accurate. The story reminded me of Leo DiCaprio when he was in Romeo + Juliet. Eros and Leo gave me the same vibe.

The spice is there. The spice is hot. It’s exactly what you think when you think of Katee Roberts. The audio was great, but I did enjoy the reader of Psyche more than Eros. I think they both did a great job on the spicy scenes and showing how much of a horrid person Aphrodite was. I will say, Aphrodite is one persistent brat.

Overall, a solid additional to the Dark Olympus series. Absolutely enjoyed the audio (thank you @dreamscape for the gifted copy) Electric Idol is out today! If you’re still chilly from the winter storm, this will sure warm you up!

Another incredible read from Katee Robert! Neon Gods was the first book I read by her and the sequel Electric Idol did not disappoint! A beautiful 4.5/5 stars Psyche was such a strong and sassy character and her relationship with Eros was just perfect. Eros deserves all the love Psyche gives him and I love characters like his where they don’t feel worthy of the love until eventually he gives in and accepts it. I cannot wait until her third book! I highly recommend listening to this series as an audiobook, thank you again Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC 😍

So much drama!!!! This is a modern retelling of Psyche and Eros!!!!! Their mothers hate each other and Eros’s mother decides she wants Psyche killed. He comes with a plan to marry so she can’t hurt him or her. They are SUPER attracted to each other, but don’t want to admit it being enemies and all. Psyche wants nothing to do with what her mother schemes for her. Her witty remarks are my favorite the entire story. There is a splash of all these tropes -Forbidden Lovers, Enemies to Lovers, Forced Proximity, and Fake Dating. There was equal amounts drama and spice! Both narrators did a great job. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this read in exchange for a honest review

Another fantastically steamy myth retelling from Katee Robert's. This time it was the story of Eros (aka Cupid) and Psyche.

I have to say I enjoyed the storyline of Neon Gods more as well as felt more invested in the characters. But this was still highly entertaining. I especially loved the conversations regarding Psyches body positivity and non-tradional beauty standards without the focus being all about that or making that her dominant personality trait.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audiobook for review.

I love the myths and the greek world that is set up in this book. As the follow up to Neon Gods. However I did have a harder time with the narrators and their accents. Following british accents with a greek understory wasn't very fitting for me and made it hard for me to gain interest.
The world build has been great but there's so many other directions I would have liked to see it go. I would for sure recommend even though it wasn't one of my favorites.

I listened to this audiobook and I don’t know what I pictured the narrators would sound like but it was not British. It took me a couple chapters to get used to it. That said this was a friends to lovers story with excellent plus size representation. I loved that Psyche owned her looks and had a healthy amount of self esteem. Her size was part of the story, but it didn’t define her character. The steam takes a while to kick in especially for a Katee Robert book, but it was perfectly paced. I loved the political maneuvering in this book. Both psyche and Eros know how to play the game in their own right and when they come together they are a force. Psyche and Eros’s relationship is incredibly sweet. When they start their marriage of convenience they both have their guards up, but it doesn’t take long before they start to open up to each other. The only complaint I have about this book is that it felt like the first 80% of the book was set up and justifying why they needed this marriage for Psyche’s protection and the last 20% was the action that Pysche needed protection against. I could have used a little more. Overall this was a solid follow up to Neon Gods and I enjoyed it so much!

I have a lot of mixed thoughts. There was little to no plot in this story, and while sometimes that’s fine because it makes space for a deeper character-driven story this also didn’t have that either. It was insta-love with no push and pull that didn’t last longer than a couple of sentences. Also, Netgalley audiobooks are horrible quality on their app and it does ruin the experience. This book was a chore to finish and I'm saddened that it was.

In this Eros and Psyche retelling, author Katee Robert creates another layer to her Dark Olympus world where social climbing and strategizing can be more important than family and friends. In this story Psyche, a plus sized influencer, gets caught up in her mother's feud with Aphrodite. Psyche and her sisters had to learn early on that to survive in Olympus they have to play the game as well as anyone else and sometimes that means putting up a facade for the world. BUT what Eros doesn't expect is that Psyche is totally genuine unless she's posing a photo. Eros, Aphrodite's son and favorite attack dog and Psyche find themselves in a single innocent and yet damning situation that sets the media wild and leads to a marriage of convenience.

Katee Robert knows how to set a scene, move a story along quickly, and then steamroll us into the bedroom. This was actually kind of a slow burn but boy did it burn bright and long. I enjoyed both characters so much in this. Eros was especially adorable when he was reading Psyche's social media trolls and learning about women's fashion sizing. I enjoyed how each character has to let down their walls and figure out how to trust the other person then to see how easily they let them in. For two wounded people, it too them a while to figure out when something good was real but it was totally worth the journey.

With that said the Olympus politics were just as fun as ever as were the call backs to book one and the brilliant set up for more of the series. I can't wait to see how things play out with Psyche's other sisters and what happens next in Olympus.

I'll be honest-- I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, especially having never read Neon Gods. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The first pleasant surprise was a plus-sized, beautiful heroine. That and decent writing will get a book far with me.
It also had wonderful romance, pretty well-developed characters, fantasy and fun. While some elements followed familiar tropes,I think that I and other new-adult readers enjoy them and I will suggest this book often to our customers.

Fist off both narrators where a great match to their characters. I really enjoyed listening to this book because they were able to bring the characters to life for me.

The write was great fast paced and fun. I enjoyed the forced marriage trope. The thirsty scene where not as intense as the first novel nor did there seem to be as many. This had more plot in my opinion. Which I liked but I know some want it the other way around.

Electric Idol is the second novel in the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert and it doesn’t disappoint!
The story of Psyche and Eros is everything we could hope for. I love that Katee writes such strong females. She does such a great job of writing a strong story and plot but also giving us some steamy moments! I really enjoyed the audio of this one. The narrators really brought the characters to life for me!
I think this is one that many will enjoy!!

I thought this was better than neon gods, Neon Gods felt like a set up for this series. This book was a step up. I loved the plot, it helped to cement the characters personalities. The body positivity was great to see, it wasn’t the main point but it was just there, which I loved. The romance I totally fell for, a marriage of convenience, enemies (in a way) to lovers. Eros treated psyche with so much respect and love I completely believe that he had fallen head over heals for her.

I love this book! What a great sequel to Neon Gods. I am very excited for the series to continue!

Eros, Aphrodite's "fixer" has been tasked with killing Psyche, daughter of Demeter. But after she shows him kindness at a party, he doesn't want to go through with it. Instead, he hatches a plan. A fake marriage to keep Psyche safe. What unfolds is a whirlwind fake romance that feels all too real. So what happens when Eros wants to keep Psyche?

I LOVED the marriage of convenience in this book. One of my favourite tropes and it was done so well. The angst of them both trying not to catch feelings, and then trying not to admit it, was amazing. Katee Robert has done it again with a fantastic romance.

The narrators were great, too! I really enjoyed the way that they read the characters.

When I was first introduced to Psyche in Neon Gods, I loved her! We did not see her much, but when we did I felt such a connection to her. So I was super excited when I found out that Electric Idol was her story!! And what a story it was!

I love the way Katee builds Psyche and Aeros’s relationship. I felt that even though it was a marriage of convenience their relationship growth was natural and not rushed.

I’m also very intrigued with how this book ends and what we shall learn in the next book about that!

OH MY GODS or should I say EROS. Katee Roberts absolutely delivered on this masterpiece. There's marriage of convenience, there's im sent to kill you but instead I fall in love with you, there are some wonderful spicy scenes cough cough chapters 13, 16, 32!!! I mean just audiobook voices are an experience and wouldn't want to have anyone else narrate it. This book follows Eros and Psyche as they fall in love, wade through godly politics, and finally conquer their own fears and monsters. Very surprisingly, unexpectedly sweet!

Katee Robert has done it again and given us a steamy HOT modern-day retelling of Eros and Psyche. The second book in her Dark Olympus series, Ms. Robert has me itching for more god and goddess storylines. She is so easily able to take a familiar myth and turn it on its head with some of the best romance tropes and topics out there:
Marriage of convenience? ✅,
I hate everyone but you? ✅,
Plus-size representation? ✅
I stopped everything I was doing to listen to this audiobook that has dual hero/heroine narration so that we get both Eros’ and Psyche’s point of view. An unlikely match that is forced through circumstances to marry, I enjoyed hearing both character’s thoughts and internal dialogue as they each come to terms with familial issues, confidence, the desire to be loved, and worthiness. What I adored is that Psyche isn’t your typical beauty, but is clearly described as a plus-sized woman—a beautiful one—where her curves only add to her beauty. In the mythological story, Eros is sent to kill Psyche, doing the bidding of his angry mother’s (Aphrodite) rage, but upon seeing Psyche instantly falls in love with her. How wonderful that Katee Robert has given us a non-traditional model-esque heroine that is worthy of being loved for her looks just as much as her mind! We need more realistic representation like this.
And did I mention that the chemistry (although somewhat insta-love) between Psyche and Eros is hot? We get the feeling that they can’t kept their hands off each other, navigating a rushed wedding that leaves them with the unexpected problem of having to convince all of Olympus (via social media) that they are a love match. The lines between faking it for the Internet and wanting it for themselves become blurred and sexual exploration becomes part of the charade.
Fans of Neon Gods (Book #1) will be pleased to see a bit more from Hades and Persephone. If you thought the chemistry was superb between them, Eros and Psyche will not disappoint. We also get a closer look at where Robert’s next books may lead as we meet the new Zeus, Eurydice, and Callisto and see more of Demeter. The world building is beautifully built and it makes me excited to see whose story comes next.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an Audio ARC in exchange for an unbiased review. I highly encourage everyone to check it out!

Instalove can be good sometimes if the characters are well built out, but I don’t feel like I knew Eros at all.

I did like Psyche a lot! Love a fat lead that’s body positive.

The spice seemed toned down from Neon Gods which was disappointing.

Overall, not my favorite. I’d reread Neon Gods, but not this one.

I also did not the the Eros narrator, but liked the Psyche one.
