Fully enjoyed reading Lucky Leap Day by Ann Marie Walker. This charming rom com tells the story of Cara Kennedy who heads to Ireland to escape a bad breakup only to return home with an Irish husband. All the characters were wonderfully developed with unique qualities that complement Cara especially her 80 year old landlord and her best friend. I especially liked Finn with his honesty and loyalty for Cara as well as their cute banter.

Thank you NetGalley for the audiobook version. Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca for permission to read the story. All opinions are my own.

This was a fun cute read that I really enjoyed! It reminded me of the Amy Adam’s movie, Leap Year. The audio was well done and made the story enjoyable to listen.

This story was about a woman who goes to Ireland, on a solo trip, following a break-up. She ends up proposing to a man, whom she has met a handful of times, on Leap Day and they get married (fueled by Irish whiskey). The rest of the story unfolds in the wake of their marriage and the story keeps you invested throughout the whole book! This was such a cute romance novel and I found myself excited to drive my daily commute, just so I could listen to this one! Both of the main characters were lovable and I also felt that this story was way different than I expected. I highly recommend this one!

This book makes me want to jump on a plane and fly to Ireland. Not only to listen to the Irish brogues, but the luscious wool sweaters!

Cara and Finn have that perfect balance of easy going and a little bit high strung. Not an enemies to lovers trope, but two complete opposites attracting is so satisfying.

I also loved that Oscar loved her even though most animals don't.

This book follows the standard arc of a contemporary romance, but it works so well that the predictability of it doesn't matter. The characters are all lovable: you love to love them (Penelope!), and you love to hate them (Samantha!). I listened to the audiobook version of this novel, and the narrator is fantastic for the contemporary genre. She seemed like a flustered 27 year old whose life turned upside down. I only wish they had a really Irish voice actor to read for Finn!

Lucky Leap Day by Ann Marie Walker
Contemporary romantic comedy.
Cara takes a short trip to Dublin for a conference even though she knows her ex boyfriend will be there. Her ride share driver gives her his sweater and the two meet and get to know each other over the next three days. Up to and including her whiskey drinking leap day proposal that changes their lives quickly as they next fly to Malibu, CA to deal with their unexpected marriage.

A cute, sweet and humorous story that sweeps you along into the romance along with Cara and Finn. Their stumbling was a bit heartbreaking because I wanted it all to work out!
I loved Julia and her solid friendship as well as Penelope, the aging screen star and landlord. They both added dimension to Cara and her life choices.
Finn and his accent and his clear feelings for Cara were swoon worthy.
The epilogue was funny and from an unexpected POV.

🎧 I listened to the audiobook version of this book. It was narrated by Cady Zuckerman who did a marvelous job with the Irish accent for Finn and the additional cast of Cara, Julia and Penelope and others. The emotions were clear and the full text easy to listen to. I played the audio at 1.25 which is my preferred speed that matches a comfortable casual conversation.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media.

This was a fun romance with some very loveable characters. I really enjoyed the characters in this book. They took a normally over used plot and made it seem bright and fun all over again. I found myself sucked into the romances and drama right along with the characters. I definitely rooted for the main couple the whole time and spent most of the time beaming as I followed along with this story. I would definitely reconsider this book to anyone who enjoys cute and fun romances.

I really really enjoyed this! It was necessary at times to suspend your belief, as some of the plot points were a bit unrealistic. Still, I think a slightly unbelievable love story is exactly what we need at times. It's nice to imagine a world where you could go to Ireland for a couple of days and come back with a beautiful Irishman and his dog. Totally unlikely, of course, but a nice daydream to say the least

Finn was truly one of the dreamiest Irishmen I've had the pleasure of reading (well, hearing) about. The inclusion of his dog, Oscar, in so many of the scenes was such a great addition to the story as well. I think I would have been absolutely head-over-heels for Finn and this story in general if I had been able to read this around age 13-15, so I would definitely recommend it for early high school students.

Overall, a nice 4 stars for a feel-good listen.

Cara has just had her heart broken recently. They were supposed to go to Ireland together for her now ex boyfriends job. Despite her broken heart, she decided to still go and enjoy herself. Little did she know, that the fates had more in store for her than just a good trip. What happened exactly? She met a wonderful charming Irishman and wound up marrying him on Leap Day while being beyond pissed from whiskey. When she wakes up to discover her shocking mistake just hours before she was due to board her flight back home to LA, she had no choice but to take him and his dog Oscar home with her to sort everything all out. What happened after that was more than she ever bargained for.
Thank you to Netgalley, Ann Marie Walker and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to read and review this delightful book! This was a very quick read. I listened to the audio version and really enjoyed it. I love rom coms and the narrator did a fabulous job. This reminded me of the movie Leap Year, which is one of my favorites. I definitely recommend this feel good book! It was so cute and entertaining. I rate this ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I listened to the audiobook version of this and loved it! I really enjoyed the narrator which is crucial for me. She did a great job with the Irish accents. I can't stand when a narrator isn't good at the accents/voices they are trying to do. I couldn't stop listening to it.

Cara's to trip to Dublin reminded me of my long weekend in Dublin with friends. It was so much fun! We went to all the same places that she did and listening to her experience brought me back (although I didn't have a fling with a hot Irishman, unfortunately!) I highly recommend this audiobook especially if you're a sucker for Irish accents! ☘️

I didn’t think going into this book that I would love it as much as I did! It was such a fun, clean rom com. Not my typical genre but the story of Cara and Finn’s love story was perfect. There was steam but it wasn’t obtrusive. I loved the support Finn gave Cara from the beginning. Great story! 4.5/5 stars.

Such a cute story! I love the idea of traveling to a beautiful country and coming home with a husband (but could never do it). This flowed well and I enjoyed following along as Cara and Finn got to know each other and then, falling in love. The trip to the US didn’t make any sense but moved the story along so I guess it works. This is a quick read perfect for a plane ride or a beach trip.

Lucky Leap Day by Ann Marie Walker is a classic romcom with a fake relationship troupe. This book made me smile throughout the book because it is a cute and comical story. I loved the Irish setting in the beginning of the story as well as the relationship between the two characters. Overall this was a solid romcom that I would say is 3.5 stars. I will boost this up to 4 stars because of the wonderful job the narrator does with the Irish accents.

3 Stars for me
3 Stars for Narrator, Cady Zuckerman --- not that she didn't do a great job, but there were different accents to cover, age gaps between characters and I personally believe multiple narrators would have worked better with this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in exchange for my honest opinions.

I love a good romcom, they tend to be the books I go to when I'm ever in a reading slump, unfortunately this would not be one of those books.

Here's why....it just all seemed way too far fetched, not even remotely possible so that caused me to lose interest half way through the book. There has to be some sort of possible connection readers make to the stories, some relatable element even if it's small and when they are too far fetched like this one.

The worst part for me was the main character, Cara had so much potential. She was heartbroken, on a once in a lifetime trip to Ireland where she randomly marries a guy she barely know AND they come back to the US together? It was at that moment that I was starting to lose interest. Walker had a great story line with Leap Year in parts, but the lack of character development was what caused me to lose interest in this book. Finn was too perfect, there literally were zero character flaws. Whereas, Cara was a much more well developed character.

These are simply my opinions, read for yourself and perhaps you will have different feelings, but this was just ok for me.

The epilogue 😂😭🥰 Oscar the dog is the best. I would love more Oscar!

Lucky Leap Day is super cute and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s your classic rom com but it’s not clichéd. I honestly enjoyed learning a little more about Irish history, even if it wasn’t the main focus of the book. I think it added an extra element to the book that made it more unique than your average rom com and bonded Cara and Finn together.

I loved the characters and their relationships to one another.

3.5 rounded up.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book comes out January 18th, 2022.

This story was a fun romance. I love the fake marriage trope. There wasn't anything in the story line that really blew me away. It was still a cute read, with maybe just enough conflict to keep the story moving. The story was well written. It was kind of hard to believe that the hero just dropped his life in Ireland to come with her to the US. I loved the cover and thought the title was fantastic. It just didn't quite deliver the compelling story that I thought it would. Big thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.

I flew thru this book in a day. It was a wild ride and when I wasn’t listening to it I was thinking about it. The narrator was really good and felt did justice to making each character unique.

This book is for you if you like
Travel
Swooney Irishman
Dog side characters
Drunken surprise marriages

I loved the first fifty percent of this so fully I thought it would be five stars. The two drawbacks for me was their relationship tension doesn’t really payoff and something that didn’t really work for me was the epilogue from the point of view of the dog.

The reason the tension didn’t get a payoff is because they have all the things leading up to intimacy except the act or acts leading up. Not every romance needs sex scenes but I think in this case it was a disservice to there tension to not even have a fade to black moment. They would just mention things leading in that direction then nothing and then the following chapter would just be like they did it a lot. Which felt odd and disjointed to me. I even thought I simply had just not been paying attention to the audio and went back to relisten but nope.

Overall this worked for me as a light romcom where you really are going to suspend a lot of disbelief. I really did enjoy the ride.

Thank you, #netgalley and #dreamscape for allowing me the opportunity to preview this book prior to its publication on February 18, 2022.

This was a fun adventure starting in Dublin, Ireland. What seems to be a train of mishaps turns out for the better as Cara meets a handsome driver/tour guide who sweeps her off her feet. The circumstances become a bit far-fetched, but it is a sweet romance, a lot of fun, and tauts spontaneity and taking chances. If you love romance and Irish accents, this book is for you!😉

4.5/5

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this audio book.

Lucky Leap Day is about the old Irish tradition of women proposing to their men on Leap Day. Cara finds herself alone in Dublin over the leap day holiday and meets Finn-- a hot Uber driver/museum tour guide/band frontman. When they both have a little too much to drink on leap day, they decide to get married. A decision they both sort of regret in the morning even though they are obviously drawn to one another and have oodles of chemistry.

Finn ends up going back to Malibu with Cara to get their marriage annulled and to continue spending time together. Of course, miscommunications, opportunities, and declarations of love ensue.

I sincerely enjoyed this story. It was really cute and both protagonists were fleshed out and interesting characters. Cara has a great best friend who added some flair to the story who was just the absolute epitome of a best friend. I was so sucked into this story that I listened to it basically nonstop until I finished it.

There were a few things that just were a little *too* unbelievable for me and took me out of the story a bit. I also didn't like the epilogue. I thought it was silly and I found myself rolling my eyes throughout. However, I enjoyed the rest of the book so much that the epilogue and the couple of silly over-the-top moments only ended up lowering this to a 4.5 for me.

The narration was FABULOUS, with the narrator doing a lovely Irish brogue for Finn's dialogue. She emoted well for the characters without being completely over the top.

I would definitely recommend this to romcom lovers!

If you're looking for a cute, feel good, rom-com, this is the book for you! This book had me in my feels and loving the relationship between Cara and Finn. Cara goes to Ireland after a bad break up and meets Finn as her ride share driver. They keep running into each other during her short trip and on leap day things become more interesting. According to Irish tradition, women ask men to marry them on leap day. Cara drinks too much that night as Finn's band plays and wakes up in the morning to find aluminum rings on their fingers. Finn follows Cara back to California where they have to learn about each other as a newly married couple. All seems well until Finn lands an acting job with the same agency Cara works for and she learns the truth about Finn. I loved this book and it was a perfect romance book!
