Overall I really enjoyed this book. I loved the twists at the end and I like that I didn’t predict it happening. I did find the beginning very slow and it didn’t keep me engaged. Once things picked up I was invested to see how everything would end. Unfortunately I didn’t love the narrator but that could also be because I didn’t like two of the main characters, I found them very annoying. But in general I would recommend this book!

Ash and Ellie had been together for a few years when they decided they were ready to buy a house together. They come across one they can’t resist-it was an amazing deal in the country side, perfect for a young couple with dreams of a family in the future. Once they move in, their best friends, Pete and Roxanne come and visit and Roxanne is hyper critical over the house and reminds them of the history in the town, which Ash and Ellie wanted to put out of their minds because of how much they liked their new home.
Unfortunately, there’s a problem with the house that the realtor didn’t disclose and as Ash goes away to work, leaving Ellie to work on getting the house settled, she gets to know the only nearby neighbor, who seems creepy but spends most of his time taking care of his unwell sister, Virginia.
While Ash is away on a work trip, he finds he can’t get a hold of Ellie and starts to worry. He comes home and can’t find her or their dog, Poppy. Little does he know that there is more to their house than he knows and definitely more to his neighbors than he could ever imagine.
This was a gothic story with potential to be amazing but it was way too long and drawn out and at times I was thinking it was never going to end! Overall, I enjoyed listening to it. And the narrator was good but her accents were questionable.
Thanks to Bloodhound Books and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my review.

Wow talk about a creepy book! I thoroughly enjoyed this one, especially the creepy twist at the end!

Ellie & Ash have moved into what they thought would be their dream home, a beautiful big country home in Norfolk England. Although it is a bit isolated, they love the charm the house brings and are excited for the possibilities as they continue to make it their own.

Soon after they move in, weird things start happening. You think you locked the door, but why is it unlocked? Then, Ellie learns that the previous owners' wife and daughter tragically went missing, with only the wife being later found dead. After that, Ellie starts to become suspicious of everything around her.

Overall- a great psychological thriller with a creepy ending. The narrator kept me on my toes, and her impression of Benjamin had me laughing! I completely could picture his character in my mind.

Thank you to NetGalley and Keri Beevis for this audio-ARC in exchange for my honest feedback and review.

Ellie and Ash have been dating for awhile now and feel like they are ready for the next step in their relationship. They purchase a beautiful country home they can fix up a little and make their own. Benjamin and Virginia are their neighbors. Siblings whose family have owned their property for generations. Ellie and Benjamin create a quick friendship and soon Benjamin begins to worry about Ellie's relationship with Ash. Ellie learns of the beautiful houses' history and when strange things begin happening she wonders if the home is haunted.

The book reminded me of BA Paris' The Therapist in the same fact that it revolves around a house that had a murder in it previously. This worried me at first. However, it quickly squashed all my doubts. This story took a few turns I did not see coming at all. I was truly shocked at the twisted ending. It was just perfect. I enjoyed this audiobook narrator as well. I liked her soothing voice and character dialects. I recommend everyone go out and read/listen to this novel ASAP!

This was a disappointment. Very very slow moving - 20% in and absolutely nothing had happened. Aside from that, the "twist" was extremely problematic. This really shouldn't have been published.

The narrator of this audiobook did a fantastic job. She was excellent at the different voices of the characters. Benjamin’s voice was super creepy! The narration definitely made the book!

I was able to predict some of the twists, but the story was entertaining, so it was still a great read. There were a few surprising shocks and the conclusion was disturbingly twisted!

I received a copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape, through Netgalley. This review is my honest opinion.

Thank you #Netgalley for the advance audiobook copy of The People Next Door by Keri Brevis in exchange for an honest review. This was a creepy, disturbing and fun book. I don't get scared easily, but I was listening to this book late one night and I was at a part where Ellie was alone at night and heard noises in the house, when I heard noises on my upstairs deck. I went to investigate, finding everyone in bed, and had to psych myself up to look outside. It turned out just to be raccoons, but it scared me thinking about what was happening to Ellie. I really enjoyed this book and the twist ending.

THE PEOPLE NEXT DOOR was an incredible book. I loved the thrill of the storyline and was completely surprised by the ending. I usually don't care for books set in England, but I fell into the story from the start. I cared for the characters and did not want to stop listening.

The narrator was incrdible. I loved the way she moved from character to character with her change in voice. It always makes an audiobook so much more inviting when they are able to pull this off.

The People Next Door is a horrifying and suspenseful thriller that will leave you on your edge on your seat for the entire book. Elle and her boyfriend Ash found a perfect fixer upper house in the English countryside or so it seems. Things start coming out about the past of the house and their neighbors, Benjamin and Virginia.

This is the most creepiest thriller I read in a long time. The book grabbed my attention quickly and I could not stop listening! The narrator did a fantastic job with the accents that made the creepy factor 100 times better. The vivid descriptions of the house and the characters are eerie and left me haunted and disturbed. It definitely made the audiobook more enjoyable.

Ash and Ellie have bought a secluded house out in the country with only one neighbor. Ellie meets Benjamin, by chance, at an emergency vet visit. When she finds out he’s her new neighbor, she’s pleasantly surprised, he was such a nice man. When Ellie finds out the history of their new house, she’s suddenly not so settled. Especially when strange things begin to happen and her new dog is way too interested in the cellar. Did Ash know about the history of the house? Is he keeping other secrets from her? When Ellie meets Virginia, Benjamin’s sister and soon after goes missing the creep factor of this book intensifies. What happened to the previous family, where is Ellie and just who should she trust?? While I liked the overall narration, the voice of Benjamin was quite grating.

This psychological thriller was about my worst fears….Living next to a creepy family. Everything was fine until it wasn’t. The suspense and fear unfolded in stages. Creating more uncertainty which in turn gave me that really scary feeling. I was waiting for something to jump out at me, keeping me on the edge of my seat.
I thought the author did a great job with the suspense and I enjoyed it very much and recommend it.
I chose to listen to this book on audio and enjoyed Shakira Shute narrating.

At the risk of sounding weird, this was delightfully disturbing.

Ellie and Ash took a big step in their relationship by buying a home together in Norfolk, England. It's isolated, with only one nearby neighbour, is in need of some renovation work ... oh, and someone was murdered in it. Perfectly idyllic. Especially since Ellie didn't know that when she moved in. But things start to feel off when messages are scrawled on walls, noises sound inside the house in the middle of the night, and what has the dog so interested in the cellar? And that one neighbour, there's just something about them that isn't quite right.

The very best thrillers always seem to have a large dose of what-the-f*ckery, and I certainly uttered a few choices words as I devoured this book. The suspense is excellent. I wasn't entirely sure what to think or who to suspect for the first half. The second half is much more cut and dry in who is a culprit (sort of) but I think that's where the tension really ramped up for me. The stakes were incredibly high and made it difficult to stop reading. And the ending!? Dang, that had me clapping a hand over my mouth for the last several pages. There are several twists but I did not see that one coming.

I was fortunate enough to receive a free audio copy of this book through Netgalley and I stand by my constant assertion that thrillers are best read this way. The narrator did a phenomenal job with the story and characters, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time because of it. I finished this in three sessions and cannot get over how entertaining it was!

If you like creepy books, I highly suggest you listen to this on audiobook. The narrator, Shakira Shute, was amazing at making us feel the emotions and I was genuinely creeped out! Afraid-to-get-out-of-my-bed-creeped-out.

I liked this book well enough, but I did find that the first half dragged on and on. It was a bit too slow for my taste, but it did set up the second part very well.

The book definitely takes a turn in the middle that I was not expecting. However, I figured out the ultimate twist within the first 20% of the book, and I honestly feel like most avid readers of the genre will see it coming as well.

Still a good novel and a really strong narrator.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ARC. I offer my review freely.

Well, wasn’t that creepy?
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Going into this book I wasn’t sure what to expect and kept going for the obvious choices as murderers. But the twists in this were genuinely creepy but something new. I’m definitely never getting a house in the outskirts.
Personally, I was not a fan of the ending which felt more like a horror,

3.5 stars

…what did I just read? This one was really strange.

Full disclosure, I almost gave up on it near the very beginning because of a scene describing (in great detail) a dog being hit by a car and being seriously injured…ultimately, the dog was okay, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep going or if that was going to be a recurring thing in the book.

From there, the book was weird weird weird. For a while, it was building up as sort of a typical domestic thriller, but then a couple of unexpected twists revealed that I definitely didn’t know where it was going. It was a good story that kept me in suspense and certainly had me guessing…and again, I just can’t emphasize enough how strange some parts were!

The People Next Door has an interesting cast of characters and a series of twists. Not only is every character in the book suspicious but the main character starts feeling extremely unreliable, making the entire sense of reality for the story to begin to feel warped. The elements of the mystery hit on every major red flag for me: a missing person case with no definitive answers, small town, isolated old home, a quirky and creepy cast of characters, multiple perspectives that continuously twists the perception of the story, and a furry best friend that seems deeply unsettled by her surroundings.

The People Next Door is a terrific mystery thriller. I have already recommended this book to several people because honestly, it blew my expectations out of the water. As an audio book, it was extremely enjoyable and well paced and I would highly recommend it. So far, for me, this is the book to beat in 2022.

The People Next Door is a mystery thriller, which is my favorite type of story.

Elle and Ash purchase their first home together after about 3 years of dating. This move takes their long-distance relationship a step further. The house is a fixer upper on the outskirts of town, with one neighbor. They got the house for cheap, but no one asked why. Elle is fixing the house up, while Ash continues to work, when strange things begin to happen. A door constantly seems to be open even though Elle closes it, their newly acquired dog is fascinated with the basement, and the neighbors sister seems to think she has the right to come and go as she pleases. As Elle researches the house, she learns it has a dark history. Will history repeat itself? You will have to read the book to find out.

I enjoyed the way the book played out and kept me guessing right through the end.

This book was alright. I really enjoyed the general premise and I very much enjoyed the narrator of the audiobook. With that said, I found the story a bit predictable and it just seemed to drag on.

Wow this book took a twist both about half way thru and towards the end. Though Ben is horrible one in this book, I didn’t like Ash either. This book is a mind f#$&.

Thank you to the publisher for an advanced audiobook copy of The People Next Door by Keri Beevis.

Wow! This was a creepy book. It is definitely a thriller-bordering-on-horror novel. There is no COZY to the mystery. Ellie and her boyfriend buy a house way outside of the city that is isolated, with only one close-by neighboring house. The neighbors are a middle-age-ish accountant and his mentally ill younger sister. The accountant seems awkward, but nice and he assures Ellie and Ash he will make sure his sister is no bother.

Meanwhile, as Ash has to work in the city, Ellie is alone in the rural town and starts to feel the isolation and fear that is driven by isolation. Ash gets her a dog (with a sweet story surrounding the adoption of her). But the new dog, Poppy, is obsessed with the cellar, which is a place Ellie likes to avoid. Also, Ellie learns of some mystery and death that occurred in their house years prior which it turns out is why they were able to get the house so cheaply. This knowledge compounds Ellie's disquiet.

I can't say a lot about the plot of this novel without spoiling anything so I will just say it was a super-fun thrill-ride. It was not TERRIBLY gory, though it did have its moments. What I particularly loved was the sense of isolation-fear....was anything really amiss or was Ellie just afraid since she had never been on her own outside a city? Even if the reader figures out early on what is going on, like I did, the book is still very fun and still manages to catch the reader off-guard at times.

I will recommend this book to all my thriller-loving friends, and I will be looking for Keri Beevis's previous books!
