This is a lovely children's book for young children aged 4-8. It is about a young boy and his dragon who are looking at what happens in spring time. The book has short sentences and beautiful illustrations which describe spring time words, such as rain, seedlings, flowers, puddles, birds, bunny, basket, calendar and rainbow. My daughter and I loved this book, and I highly recommend it.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a brilliant, simple but engaging level 1 reading for three to five year olds. I find these books much more interesting than the books that my nine year old learnt to read with. Five stars ⭐

A nice book for early readers.

This simple story follows a boy and his dragon over spring.

My children enjoyed the illustrations.

The book is aimed at an emerging reader, so concise sentences with straight forward words.

A great reader to add to our library of early reading books.

A book of simple sentences with cute accompanying illustrations. The notes for caregivers and activities at the back are worthwhile additions though I thought the activities would need lots of guidance from a caregiver in comparison to the simplicity of the reading sentences.

This book as well as the other books in the "Dear Dragon" series are a great place for children to start reading. I recommend these books to libraries and teachers to further the education and reading ability of children. The illustrations are also very adorable. This book would be great to read to a child as they are short and sweet.

The Dear Dragon has been a great series for my beginner reader! This simple story brings us the joys of spring! The book is super easy to follow along for young readers and the basic sentences and their repetitiveness makes it a great book for beginners. I could easily use this series to help my son on his reading journey. Easy book and series recommendation.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Little dragon continues to have fun during the rain. Learning new words as he goes along and making new sentences.

This is a basic first read book. It features bright illustrations and repetitive text., which helps kids identify the commonly occurring words and spelling which were illustrated in the beginning of the book. At the end of the book, there are additional activities which we enjoyed even more than the book itself. The series in itself is what we would like to have in the house for my 5 year old, as she is just starting to read and identify simple basic words, which is exactly the theme of these books.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I Love Spring, Dear Dragon! by Marla Conn is a book in the Dear Dragon series for developing readers. According to the synopsis, the book is about "when a boy and his pet dragon enjoy a spring day exploring... They see puddles, a bird, a rainbow and more." The sentences themselves are simple, which makes sense, since this book is for a Level A reader. I took off 1 star, because I found the pictures somewhat lacking. Some children's books are read over and over, because children adore the illustrations. Unfortunately, you won't find that here.

As a teacher, I liked that there is a picture dictionary at the beginning of this book in a section called "words in this book." I also liked common sight words (without pictures) were included. Often, when introducing vocabulary books, we focus on words that have pictures and forget about words like "I" and "the." I also liked the activity pages at the end of the book, which includes "word work" (unscrambling the words) and "activity" (creating a Venn diagram). That's definitely a useful activity that will help kids academically. If you're looking for the book for a Level A reader, I recommend that you check out this series, which is available now!

Beginner reader books that spell success for both child and parent. Teaching your children to read can be difficult so when a good resource such as the Dear Dragon books come along, I will sing praises.

Repetitive and simple. It starts with the sight words used and the ending has resources for parents to give their child confidence in reading.

A special thank you to Norwood House Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This title is part of a series of books for very beginning readers. It features bright illustrations and repetitive text. The beginning of the book illustrates common words that are found in the story. At the end of the book, there are additional activities.

This series is designed to give beginning readers a sense of mastery. Have a child you know read the story to you.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Have fun as you join a little boy and his dragon during a rain day in spring! What will the two friends discover? They find birds, pretty flowers and even a silly little bunny.

"I Love Spring, Dear Dragon" by Marla Conn is written with repeated words in a basic story developed to increase the child's confidence in reading. The book is terrific fun for beginning readers and increases their vocabulary as they read. The illustrations by David Schimmell are bright, colorful and make it easier for the reader to figure out the words. The activities section for children at the end of the book reinforces skills the student is learning.

Thank you NetGalley and Norwood House Press. It is a honor to review this book!
