This book took some time to get into . I liked the overall message of following your dreams and not caring what others thin.k. A good read.

Do you have a dream list?

Ollie does. She wrote a dream list when she was sixteen and fourteen years later, she still hasn’t fulfilled anything on her list. Ollie is tired of being manipulated by her mother and living in her shadow. She finally stood up to her mother and found the courage to move out from her clutches. It pains her to make this decision but she needs to live her own life. If not now, when? Ollie moved into a new neighbourhood and learnt to live on her own. She is determined to complete tick off everything on her dream list and her journey to self love and discovery finally begins with the help of her neighbours and best friend.

This is such a feel-good story about self-discovery and building self confidence. Ollie’s character is relatable. I am sure there are many times where we choose to put our dreams on hold for the sake of family and other commitments. I love how Ollie took control of her life and put herself first instead of constantly letting her mother influence her choices. It’s a painful choice to make and I could feel how torn she was but I also felt so happy when Ollie learnt what is important to her and when she learnt to create healthy boundaries with her mother.

I love how Moran portrayed the complicated relationship between Ollie and her mother. She addressed the contrasting feelings of Ollie’s relief and guilt of moving away, her happiness of feeling free and her fear for feeling alone and missing her mother. I also love Ollie’s job! She teaches English as a second language to adults which gives them an opportunity to improve their lives. LOVE IT!

Although there is a love interest, I appreciated that it is not the center of the story. This story focuses on Ollie’s journey to understanding and accepting herself. I enjoyed reading this overall and highly recommend if you are looking for a heartwarming read.

Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the arc.

Beth Moran’s Just The Way You Are is such a lovely read! Heartfelt, uplifting and comforting, curl up under your cosiest blanket and lose yourself in this charming read.

Sixteen year old Olivia Tennyson had written a Dream List which she had hoped to accomplish by the time she reached adulthood. Fate, however, seemed to have other ideas in store for Ollie because at twenty-nine she is still single and living at home with her manipulative and over-protective mother. Ollie cannot help but feel that her dreams are getting further and further away from her. Stuck in a rut and not happy with the way her life is going, Ollie decides to stop wallowing and to take matters into her own hands and start ticking off the items on her Dream List.

Without uttering a single world to her mother, Ollie finds the perfect home to start over. End Cottage is an absolutely beautiful home with a majestic garden that leads to acres of forest. No longer hampered by her mother’s manipulations, Ollie is now the one in charge of her destiny. Armed with her list and bolstered by her own determination to make her dreams a reality, Ollie will realise that the closer she gets to achieving her goals, the more she will learn about herself and about the woman she really is – and who knows, maybe End Cottage will also end up leading her to her own happy ending…

Beth Moran’s Just The Way You Are is a wonderful tale about putting yourself first, finding out who you really are and making your dreams come true full of charm, heart and humour. Just The Way You Are is a delightful read with a terrific heroine readers will relate to and warm to. Ollie’s journey of self discovery will strike a chord with readers everywhere and will have them laughing and crying as she becomes the mistress of her own fate.

An uplifting romantic charmer perfect for a rainy day, Beth Moran’s Just The Way You Are is not to be missed.

So, this was a good book, but honestly, it won't live in my memory for a long time.

What I liked:
Ollie's idea of completing the "List of things I want to do with my dream man" all by herself, I mean, it doesn't get better.
Sam was a really cute hero, very romantic.

What I didn't like:
Ollie's toxic relationship with her mom only stressed me and made me uncomfortable.
I think this book was a bit long, it tried to grasp many ideas and didn't quite succeed in any of them.
Joan was a bit insufferable, honestly.

I received a complimentary copy of this book "Just the Way you Are" and all opinions expressed are my own. Ollie wrote her dream list when she was 16. Was she ever going to complete it? She needed a break from her mom and bought a house and moved out. This was a fun feel good story that I enjoyed reading.

Interesting story about the dynamics between an only child & her over bearing mom. I liked all of the characters but I did find Ollie a bit 9f a pushover in the beginning

I have never come across a book by Beth Moran before reading her 'Just the Way You Are' nor have I read a book in a style similar to this book. Both the author and the style of book are very new to me but I must say I rather enjoyed it.

With this book, the author has tried to give the reader an insight into the heart and mind of a person trudging through her own small, nevertheless significant, battles. From the get-go, we are drawn into the life of Ollie. She has always been the clinging vine for her mother since her father left their home suddenly while she was a small child. She feels trapped between her desire to have a life of her own and her unwillingness to cause her mother any unhappiness and certain events finally push her to make a change to find herself.

The story is very much a study of what an emotionally abused person, who was in a toxic relationship, actually go through when they try to break themselves out of the pattern. The reader journeys along with Ollie, as she passes through the various stages of discovering her self- esteem and knowing who she is a person. We celebrate along with her as she becomes her own person and finally learns how to be happy and content with the person she is.

I felt the author has done an excellent job in drawing these complicated situations and emotions, so much so that, the reader can't help but drown in them. She has done justice to the point she was trying to make. Her message is thought-provoking, inspirational and empowering. The narration of the story was crisp, slightly emotional where needed and evenly-paced. I particularly liked the way she has created her characters - they are all flawed, regular human being you always see in your life.

Overall, this book turned out to be a surprisingly pleasing experience and I couldn't recommend it more to anyone who like to read an emotionally uplifting story that feels like a balm to the soul.

Thank you to Netgally and the publisher for providing me an ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are my own.
I am so happy I picked this one up! After reading We Belong Together, I really wanted to give Beth MOrgan another chance. I had enjoyed that book but felt like there were a few specific areas that could use some improvement. Just The Way You Are did not disappoint- the character development and balance between different plot lines was very well done and everything felt realistic and genuine. I enjoyed the way the romance was "kept at bay" and felt like the reasoning behind this was very genuine as opposed to contrived simply for plot convince. I found the main characters and all the side characters really enjoyable and balanced. Overall this was a very enjoyable, well written read, and I would love to pick up more from the author!

This is the first book I’ve read by Beth Moran and I can safely say it won’t be my last.
Ollie as the main character is so lovely and relatable I wanted to be her friend. The no man mandate is such a great idea, from the moment Sam came into the story I was rooting for them to get together but it never felt guaranteed or predictable. A fantastic feel good story worthy of five stars.

Wherein she is also have a "No Man Mandate" which of course it was tested when she met Sam.

This book was just okay for me. Mainly because I was expecting it to be a romance, and that was such a small part of the story. I would definitely consider this to be women's fiction or contemporary.

We follow Olivia, or Ollie as her friends call her, in the last year of her 20s. She's trying to establish boundaries with family, while trying to make it on her own for the first time in her life.

I did love seeing her building relationships and leaning how to be on her own. She makes new friends, stands up for herself, and realizes she shouldn't wait on her dream man to do some things that have been on her dream list (bucket list) since she was 16.

This was definitely heart warming and a cozy read. Just not quite what I usually read, and very little romance.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

A charming read, featuring wonderful characters, a lovely setting, family dynamics, and some great laugh out loud moments. When Olivia finally decides to break free from her demanding and manipulative mother, she knows she must learn to love herself. She is on a mission to complete items on her Dream List to prove that she is the best judge of how she should live her life.

This is the story of Olivia Tennyson or Ollie as she is known to her friends. Ollie's story is told over the course of 35 chapters, chapters that will zoom by while the reader enjoys this tale of self discovery.
Throughout this story Ollie is on a quest to figure out exactly who she is when she is on her own. Now I don't mean on her own as in single, though she is, I mean living on her own and not with her mother. The mother is just one of the background characters that are mentioned in this book. Now alongside the main story these background characters also have their own story that readers get to see play out.
Some readers may find that they relate to the main character Ollie, which will increase how much they enjoy reading her story. A story where the main focus is character finding and loving themselves not someone else. Although romance is found in this story it is very much not the main focus.
Overall readers will be captivated with Ollie's story which is filled with self discovery and hope. This is perfect for readers who like the self discovery journey. I can't wait to take a look at the other books that Beth has published.

This was a sweet, uplifting story about Ollie finding her way. Ollie is 29 and has been living with her controlling mother. She finally gets the nerve to move out on her own, distancing her from her mother. This story is about Ollie finding her way on her own, learning about herself and making friends along the way. This is a nice feel good book with a lot of heart.

Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood books for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily.
I have not read any other books by this author before but I've now signed up to follow her. This book starts with a comical St Valentine's Day evening 'Team Tennyson!' and delivers on its promise of a marvellous contemporary read. The characters are so realistic and interesting and the descriptions of the setting made me want to live there too. The story delivers emotional rollercoaster moments and while I have no intention of giving any spoilers it is accurately described as 'uplifting' and 'feelgood'. I have no hesitation I recommending it as a thoroughly enjoyable read and look forward to reading more by Beth Moran, thank you.
