My 11 yo daughter loved this! What’s not to love, cats and space?! I will be looking for future installments. Wholesome good fun!

It's not often that a show becomes a book, but this one is a hit with fans of Barnett's other series, DogMan, Investigators, etc.

Graphic novels are extremely popular in my school library and my students are always asking for new ones. This has been a super popular graphic novel in my collection, alongside Mac Barnett's other books. The illustrations are bright and colorful and add to the overall feeling of this book. My students know that I love cats, so they also have picked this up just because their "crazy cat lady" librarian has been talking out it. The humor found within this book is also great for elementary and upper elementary students. Can't wait for the next book that Mac Barnett releases.

When scientists realize that the moon is being eaten by rats, a cat is tasked to journey through space and stop the carnage. Little did anyone know that a robot, Loz 4000 has stowed away onboard the space ship. In Harris and Barnet's well know madcap style, which we all need to counter the weariness our present world, our cat, and Loz, reach the moon and begin their quest to find the rats. Our fearless heroes trek through the Land of Frost, and the Peninsula of Thunder. They meet the Queen of the Moon, The Man in the moon, and a beach bum who allows no talk of evil, war or politics--only great weather, drinks with umbrellas, and pizza. From this point on the high jinx and hilarity continue until they finally reach the Dark side of the Moon, which is the base for the rats. I highly recommend this GN to all fans of Mac Barnett and Shawn Harris. You will not be disappointed.
Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins for a digital ARC

I mean I love Mac Barnett but this one wasn’t really for me. But it’s not written for me! It was written for kids and I think they will definitely like it. It’s like Dog Man meets Narwhal and Jelly… in space!

This is a wonderful book. Adults will love it and kids will eat it up. It might even be the next Halloween Costume. This is a dynamic duo! We need to see more from these two!

Mac Barnett’s humor and Shawn Harris’s softly drawn illustrations combine to create this wacky space adventure! This one is fun to read for the whole family, with quirky characters, twists and turns, and hilarity throughout. A very enjoyable read!

This has a pretty compelling title. It promises something delightfully weird. And weird is certainly what we got. A lot of random events, though they work well together. It's reminiscent of The Glorkian Warrior series. It's the sort of book that grows on you with repetition.

My son loved this graphic novel. Tons of silly saying and robots. It kept him interested all the way through. The illustrations were “super cool” which is high praise from a 9yo.

I do not care for this book at all. The attempts at humor are way, way too much. The storyline just didn't make sense..
For Libraries: Kids will like it.

This is such a cute story! We get some really nice art to go with a story where the moon is more than a few layers of rock and dirt, and where a toenail robot could be the hero.

This is an excellent introduction to the "adventure!" plot for younger readers, graphic novel lovers, or readers who need more picture support. Our fearless trio of heroes must go through many different lands and struggles, much like LOTR / HP / fantasy novels, but with a quick pace and a great balance of text to image. Color palettes are used really skillfully to bring to life different phases of their journey, while the toenail cutting robot interjects humor throughout. I highly recommend to any elementary school library. It will surely become another Mac Barnett favorite.

A cute little SFF graphic novel. I'll admit I was hoping the adventure would be more focused on the pizza than a whole rats eating the moon thing, but I think kids will enjoy it nonetheless. The toenail clipping robot companion was funny, but it was the shipboard computer determined to insert itself into the story that really stole the show.

This book is an absolute winner! I'm very glad to see it will be a series. Kids will love it and adults won't mind reading it with them at all. The illustrations are lovely and add a lot to the story. It's funny, clever, slightly educational, even. I think it will spark some creativity in kids as they can use this trip to the moon as a jumpstart for imagining their own world. Loved it! Can't wait to hear what my grandson thinks when he reads it!!

This was adorable. My son loved it. He's been so into outer space since he was a toddler, he now has a kitten so he LOVED every moment of this book. I loved the different aspects and the meaning behind it. Was such a fun ride along with the story!

This was a fun graphic novel for the elementary school set. The moon has a giant bite taken out of it by alien rats that have escaped. There’s only one solution send a cat. The number of times this cat tries to eat pizza as their first meal is daunting. Yes they finally do get their pizza but lots of crazy things have to happen in between. We have a talking toenail clipping robot, a moon queen, and a whole bunch of other things. The adventure reads like a younger version of lord of the rings and in fact the rings is even mentioned later in the book. Part of the story remind me of the Never Ending Story. Other parts are just laugh out loud. Kids of all ages will find this a fun comedic adventure to keep them flipping through all 323 pages.

'The First Cat in Space Ate Pizza' by Mac Barnett with illustrations by Shawn Harris is a graphic novel about a lunar crisis and the feline who might just save us all.
When a large part of the moon is discovered as missing, a mission to save the moon sends a cat and a peculiar robot to find the culprits and save the day. Along the way, the duo meets a collection of oddball characters who become allies and enemies.
This over the top adventure is laugh out loud funny. The situations are just silly and I really enjoyed reading this. This is a great read for kids and kids at heart.
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from HarperCollins Children's Books and NetGalley. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Something awful i happening to the moon! Rats are eating it. There is only one fearsome cat that was bioengineered in a secret lab. The cat is sent to the moon with a stowaway. The stowaway is a toenail clipping robot — LOZ4000. lox tells cat he wants to find his destiny in the universe as he doesn’t want to just do nail clipping. Cat and LOZ run into the Moon Queen. The three of them will travel over a difficult lunar landscape. They will have many adventures on their way to where the rats live on the dark side of the moon. What will the rats do when they make it to the rats’ kingdom on the moon?
The graphic novel is filled with brightly colored illustrations that are perfect for the story. The story has all manner of weird characters that they meet. I laughed at so many scenes — it’s a fun book to read". I enjoyed the humor that the author wrote into the story. It has adventures that twist and turn in unexpected ways. It’s a graphic novel for anyone to enjoy and read.

What a delightful, witty, engaging book! Full of unexpected twists and turns, this graphic novel will keep you on your toes as this unlikely trio tries to save the moon from being eaten by rats.

I read this with my daughter and we both really loved it. The story was a bit silly, but it was a fast read and I will buy a copy for my daughter.
