I've had trouble getting into this story. I like the premise very much but didn't really like the characters. I may try reading it again in a few weeks.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance read.

Mia Malone is a kitchen witch in Idaho. She buys an old school and turns it into a catering business and her home. She was brought in last minute as a wedding planner for a magical couple. The previous wedding planner was fired. Someone is trying to halt the wedding. Mia will need to plan the wedding and try to stop the person causing havoc.

I really enjoyed this book. This was my first book by the author and definitely not my last. I will have to go back to the beginning. Not knowing anything about the characters I was able to catch up with the story.

Three Tainted Teas Earns 5/5 Family Feuds…Entertaining & Clever Fun!

Being asked to be part of Amethyst Uzzi and Tok McMann nuptials is bittersweet. Christina is asked to be a bridesmaid after the bride’s cousin backed out at the last minute, and Mia Malone is asked to take over the role as wedding planner after planner Chelsea Bachman is fired. The bride’s family doesn’t flinch at the premium fees Mia quotes for her services, but Mia soon begins to regret her involvement. She learns of a feud between the bride’s coven and the groom’s tribe of shape-shifting wolves, and the fathers hate each other! It gets worse with the demands made by the McManns and the push back by the Uzzis, the groom’s brother hitting on Mia, and the disgraced wedding planner crashing the party and having a shouting match with the bride’s father. But’s it’s the bloody dead body that makes the whole event a disaster.

Lynn Cahoon’s third full-length book is an exciting drama with a inter-magical wedding introducing new “creatures” to her Kitchen Witch world and developing a fascinating lore around these shape shifters. The mystery is well-crafted with surprises, twists, peril, and a karma-filled finale, and the witches vs wolves feud was a nice nod to Montagues vs. Capulets or better yet…the Hatfields vs. McCoys. The characters are diverse in personality, ability, and motivation, and the dynamics between family, friends, and the pairs of lovers are realistic and endearing. Mia has had her own challenging relationship with magic, and following her evolving discovery is entertaining. There are a few comments that refer to past events like secret passages, background of the school’s facility, insights into Mia’s heritage, locating people involved in building the facility, the area’s history, and Mr. Darcy the cat’s predicament, but it’s easy for newbies to follow. Big favorite!

Three Tainted Teas by Lynn Cahoon is the third full length book in the paranormal cozy Kitchen Witch Mysteries series. The Kitchen Witch Mysteries also have three novellas in the series along with the three full length novels which include a prequel to open the whole series. As with most cozy mysteries though each of these books does contain it’s own mystery that will be fully solved within the book so they can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so. There is character development that carries over from book to book for those that follow the series from the beginning.

In the prequel novella in the series readers were introduced to Mia Malone who had traveled back to her hometown of Magic Springs, Idaho at the urging of her grandmother who Mia fondly calls Grans. Magic Springs is a place where magic is out in the open and Mia’s family is far from normal with Mia inheriting her Grans magical abilities and she now uses that witchcraft to create her tasty culinary treats.

Since that trip back to Magic Springs though Mia’s world had fallen apart with Mia finding herself single when her boyfriend left her and also became unemployed. Mia decided that the best thing to do was to return to Magic Springs for good where she could use her magic in a gourmet dinner delivery business. Now that Mia’s business is running she has been asked to help with a wedding when the wedding planner needed replaced. When Mia goes to meet the previous planner to get the details she instead finds the woman murdered so to keep the wedding on track Mia knows a murderer needs to be found, fast!

Lynn Cahoon is a cozy author that I know well having read several of her series from the beginning, including the Kitchen Witch Mysteries series. The Kitchen Witch Mysteries series is a little different from the others I’ve read with it being paranormal with a witchy lead but it’s just as much fun and plenty of laughs that I’ve come to expect from this writer’s cozies. The characters are likable and the mystery in this one was fitting the paranormal theme and interesting to follow so I’ll definitely be interested to returning to this series again in the future.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Three Tainted Teas by Lynn Cahoon is the latest in her Kitchen Witch Mysteries Series, and, as always, it is a lot of fun! Mia Malone and her friends are in the thick of it again when she is asked to become a wedding planner for a set of magical families that have a Hatfield/McCoy feud happening. When the prior wedding planner is killed, the stakes are even higher. Is Mia next in line? Or is someone connected to her doing this? How far will someone go to stop the wedding? I really enjoy these books. They keep me entertained while also guessing and trying to figure out what is happening. Can't wait for the next one!
thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this and other great books!

I picked up Three Tainted Teas without having read the other books in this series (it’s #3, but there are also a couple of novellas in addition to books 1 and 2). While I didn’t have the detailed knowledge of what had come before, I was able to dive in pretty well. Mia runs a catering business in an Idaho town called Magic Springs, not too far from real Twin Falls and Boise. The town is unique in that a good number of the residents are witches/warlocks. Mia has some witchy abilities but she mostly tries not to use them, it seems. (Maybe there’s something in the earlier books that would have told me why.) She is asked to fill in at almost the last minute as a wedding planner for a wedding that involves two long-feuding families (one witching family and one shifter family!). Since this is a mystery series, someone does wind up dead - the previously fired wedding planner! Mia quickly figures out that someone is trying to prevent this marriage.

It was fun to read all the tasks a wedding planner has to accomplish, especially under such trying circumstances. You will enjoy this book if you like a bit of paranormal along with your mysteries. The supporting characters are fun and I’d like to know more about some of them.

Note: The title makes no sense with the story. I guess the author is using numbers in her titles for the full-length books in the series (one, two, three) but there's nothing about tainted teas in this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read an advance readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Three Tainted Teas by Lynn Cahoon is a Kitchen Witch mystery featuring Mia Malone, her boyfriend Trent and various other members of her extended family. Christina, her ex-fiancé's sister and her assistant has been drafted to be a bridesmaid in a wedding, simply because the dress would fit. Mia, was now the wedding planner as the father-of-the-bride had fired the original for skimming. Oh, and the wedding is in a week. Oh, and it is between a witch and a human/wolf shifter and plenty of people were not happy about it. The bride and groom were adorable, both sets of parents were OK, but the best man/brother-of-the-groom was a player who decided he might like to play with Mia. That just added to the problems. Someone was cancelling contracts. The previous wedding planner had been murders so it wasn't her. Mia was running around, and she had her lists. Her grandmother was working on protection spells, to help keep her safe, of course.

It had everything: dresses that changed color as the bridesmaids walked down, the aisle, concrete dragons that spit glitter as the wedding party passed, real (magic) fire that emanated from the groom's cake ( a dragon), and more. The last minute contract cancellations were dealt with, the best man had the rings and only an attempted murder as the bridesmaids were walking marred the ceremony. Mia was right there and dealt with it and the attacked bridesmaid (Christina) did not die. It turns out the murder was read, not magic, so the very non-believing sheriff got everyone who needed to be, arrested. It was a fun story. Only a witch and her witchy friends could
have pulled it off!

3.5 stars, rounded up. Cozies that deal in the paranormal are generally hit or miss for me, and this one was mostly a hit. I think this series has done a fairly good job with its magical explanations. I like Mia as a character and her relationships with those around her feel warm and authentic.
Quibbles with this one included that the clues to the perpetrator were really heavy handed, and this series is falling victim to a common issue in cozies in which characters act weirdly old for their ages and it feels like the author is a little out of step with contemporary life (there were some odd and/or dated things with the wedding in this one that stuck out).

This was another great book in the Kitchen Witch series. The "paranormal" elements are light but cozy and tie into the plot very well. The mystery was well paced, and I did not figure it out until the end. The relationships between the characters are realistic and endearing. I enjoyed learning more about witch culture in this town, and I look forward to finding out more. Highly recommend!

This is one of my favorite cozy series. I cannot wait to read the next one. Of course Mia falls into a paranormal family feud. When she finds a body of course she has to figure out what happened. I love Mia and Christina. Thank you NetGalley and Kenington Publishing Corp for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mia's business is going really well so well that she takes on a last minute wedding. Now hard could a wedding that is basically planned be? Mia learns quite hard, the two families do not get along and have a hard time on agreeing about anything. Not one to give up Mia wants to make the happy couples day as special as they have dreamed about. When she goes looking to get the paperwork for the wedding from the previous planner she gets a huge shock. She finds the woman dead, murdered in the room she was staying in. Mia is shocked when she realizes the she is considered a suspect. She didn't know anything about the wedding until it was brought to her. Determined to clear her name and pull of the wedding at the same time Mia starts following the clues she thinks will lead her to the truth. Follow along and see if she can pull off this disastrous wedding and find a killer at the same time.

What a fun magical cozy! Mia has started planning weddings. In this case, the bride and groom come from different, feuding magical families, and someone wants to stop the wedding from happening. Whoever it is has focused on the wedding planner, now Mia, after the first planner was unexpectedly dismissed.
Mia is equally determined that the wedding will go on, with the help of some magic from her family.
This was such a fun and creative book, loved it 4.5 stars.

Blurb:
“Aspiring witch and culinary entrepreneur, Mia Malone, must dispel a deadly plot to wreck her clients’ wedding in this charming continuation of New York Times bestselling author Lynn Cahoon’s Kitchen Witch Mystery series.

Business is bubbling at Mia’s catering service and cooking school, Mia’s Morsels, but toil and trouble are not far behind. Mia just accepted her toughest gig yet: last-minute wedding planner for Magic Springs’ own Romeo and Juliet. Though the small town is fairly accepting of magic, two families have been locked in a vicious feud spanning generations. Unfortunately for both families, they’re about to become in-laws! Amethyst and Tok are excited to wed in a few weeks and somehow Mia must ensure the event is flawless.

But when she goes to pick up paperwork from the couple’s previous wedding planner, Mia discovers the woman murdered in an apparent attempt to stop the contentious union. Now, not only is Mia a prime suspect, as the new planner she may also be the killer’s next target. Backed by her squad, her charms—literal and figurative—and a protective amulet from her Grans, it’s up to Mia to save the star-crossed couple’s wedding, her professional reputation…and maybe even her life.”

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Another murder mystery that Mia has gotten mixed up in. This is the third book in the Kitchen Witch series, so expect some fantasy with your cozy mystery. After the wedding planner was fired, Mia was asked to take over. Not something she has done before, but owning a catering business has given her many organizational skills, plus the money was to good to pass up. Trying to connect with the previous planner at the hotel, Mia finds her murdered. Working with a nonbeliever police chief and believing that there was magic involved with the murder has Mia walking a tightrope. Thanks to the help of friends she is trying to pull off the wedding of the year, but there are forces working against that also.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #ThreeTaintedTeas

Three Tainted Teas is the third book in the Kitchen Witch Series. Though it would help to have read books 1 and 2, I still thoroughly enjoyed book 3 and plan on going back to read the first two books. The main character Mia Malone takes on wedding planning, which is something she’s never done. The reason she takes the job is because the original wedding planner has been fired, and now has been found dead. Someone does not want this particular wedding to happen. Can Mia figure out who is trying to stop the wedding before she becomes the next victim? You must read the book to find out.

Lynn Cahoon has a hit here with the Kitchen Witch Series. A fun, fast and easy read. Truly enjoyable.

Three Tainted Teas is the third book in the paranormal Kitchen Witch cozy mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. Released 26th April 2022 by Kensington, it's 272 pages and is available in paperback, audio, and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this first two books in the series are currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free. There are also a couple of adjunct short stories for binge reading.

This is a small-town catering cozy with light paranormal overtones complete with human trapped in cat form, feisty grandma, (and a recipe for peach cobbler crisp at the back), and local law enforcement officer. This series has found its stride at this point. There were some clunky bits of dialogue scattered about, but nothing egregious which dragged me out of my suspension of disbelief. Some of the characterizations are a bit cartoonish; shapeshifters and pack dynamics and all. The story arc, denouement, and resolution are satisfying however and the author is experienced and writes well.

I do recommend the book to readers who are especially fond of small-town cat cozies with outlandish plots, but understand that there are some issues going in and bring a hefty suspension of disbelief to the party. It's gratifying to see this developing into an appealing and engaging cozy series. The language is squeaky clean and there's no on-page gore. The mystery puzzle and denouement and resolution are satisfying and well constructed.

Four and a half stars - for what it is. It's not classical deathless prose, but it is entertaining and well written.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Three Tainted Teas takes us to Magic Springs, Idaho for a wedding. Mia Malone is asked to be the wedding planner at the last minute.
Magic Springs is a magical place. This book adds shifters to the known witch population. I suspect a new to the series reader might feel confused. Each book and novella builds on the last.
I love Mia Malone and her gang - Christina, Trent, Levi and Gran. Mia has a good support team in each challenge she faces. There’s danger but this group faces it together. Trent gets a bit bossy from time to time but it’s based on a knowledge of the dangers involved in the magic and his care for Mia.
Three Tainted Teas has a great storyline and it feels a bit like a warm hug.
I knew who was behind the murder and the attempts to sabotage the wedding. I kept wondering when Mia would put the pieces together. With how things played out, I wondered if Mia had figured it out if the danger to certain parties would have been avoided.
It didn’t lessen my enjoyment of the story because it is more about how the relationships are building than and the little mysteries surrounding the school and the magic that Mia is learning about as the series progresses.
Being from Idaho myself, I keep wondering where exactly this fictional town fits into the geography in Idaho. It’s near both Twin Falls and the airport for Sun Valley. It’s not important but it’s another fun puzzle for an Idaho girl.

Three Tainted Teas is the 3rd book in the Kitchen Witch Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. I have enjoyed the other series written by Lynn Cahoon, so I jumped on this one with the first book---I am so glad I did. The characters deal with problems just like the rest of us. Mia has her culinary school/catering business, and is asked to step into wedding planning when the previous planner quit at the last minute. She is hopeful that a successful wedding will open a new avenue of business, but trouble is on her horizon when the former planner is found dead. The hunt is on for the killer---can Mia live long enough to solve this mystery?
I love this series and suggest starting with book one, to get the best feel for the characters, and the town of Magic Springs. Magic, mystery, laughter, and a sense of caring in the community are the reasons I am drawn to this paranormal cozy series.

Read Three Tainted Teas today to find out!

I loved this book and laughed out loud multiple times. The ending and title lead nicely into book four. Which frankly, I can’t wait for! I loved book three and am totally invested in the characters and can hardly wait for book four. The release date for the fourth book is presently unknown.

Lynn Cahoon is also the author of the Tourist Trap, Cat Latimer, Farm to Fork, and the new upcoming Survivors’ Book Club Mysteries.

Thank you to Lynn Cahoon, her publisher, and NetGalley for my ARC.

Magic, suspense, feuding families, poisoned grimoires, deceased wedding planners, several suspects, and lots of red herrings and misdirection...this enchanting whodunit has it all...And more!!! Once I started reading, couldn't put the book down until I was done.
I absolutely adore Mia and her crew.
