US Marshall Arliss Cutter in in Alaska and along with his partner is searching for a serial killer. He gets assigned to transport several criminals, one of the men is more dangerous than they realize. When the plane goes down in the middle of nowhere things go from bad to worse. The author makes you feel like you are in Alaska, you can practically feel the cold. There is plenty of suspense in this book and the ending leaves room for another book. This is part of a series but it could be read as a stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I've been back to Alaska with US marshall Arliss Cutter while he was trying to solve a murder mystery, family problems and transport criminals all at the same time. I really like this series by Marc Cameron and Cold Snap is the fourth book in this great series. Out in stores on April 26th.You really get the feeling that the author knows this state and you are right, he spends a lot of the year in Alaska and he has been a marshall. The thing I like the most in this series is the characters that is not your typical gallery of good and bad guys and of course the scenery and the descriuption of the difficulties of living in such a place. I grew up reading the books by Harry Macfie a swedish adventurer in Canada in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Since then I have always been fascinated with life in those conditions but have not yet tried it. As usual the book is filled with suspense and difficulties and near death experiences, I can really recommend it. Thanks to @kensingtonbooks and @netgalley for giving me this advance copy and @marccameronbooks for writing it. #NetGalley #Kensington #ColdSnap #MarcCameron #ArlissCutter

Cold Snap is the 4th installment in the Arliss Cutter series, and picks up where the last book ended, with Cutter and his partner Lola involved in a hunt for a serial killer. While Cutter gets reassigned to transport several criminals, Lola takes center stage in the investigation, and is a central part in the first half of the book, with the action switching back to Cutter as his plane goes down in the Alaskan wilderness while transporting the prisoners. Lots of action here, and the author once again does such a fantastic job of setting the scene that you can almost feel the brutal cold and harsh elements that Cutter experiences. Fans of the series will not be disappointed, and the book delves a little deeper into the death of Cutter’s brother, setting the stage for the next book. Love this series, and looking forward to the next story! I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Cold Snap is book four in the Arliss Cutter series. I have not read any of the others. While I don't feel that I needed to read them to enjoy this book, there are numerous references to earlier events that I assume were covered in books 1-3, and I think I would have a better understanding of the characters if I had read the books in order.

I liked Arliss and Lola, his partner in the US Marshal Service. Arliss isn't quite as stoic as Joe Pike (from the Elvis Cole series by Robert Crais), but he's close. He also walks a fine line on how he treats prisoners. Lola is protective of him, and they have a wonderful, completely platonic relationship.

Cold Snap is set in Alaska, and the book title doesn't do it justice. Alaska and its weather are basically characters in this book, and this southern girl doesn't ever want to be near cold like that. The author did a fantastic job with setting, making the reader feel like they were there.

My only quibble with this novel is that the big break in the case hinges on a massive coincidence. The task force, while working hard, doesn't really solve the case. This made the story feel a little disjointed. With a little plot tightening, this could have been a great novel. However, this will not stop me from going back and reading the first three books as well as the next one in the series.

Not family friendly due to subject matter and violence.

Have Marshalls Arliss Cutter and Lola Teariki finally met their match?

Body parts start washing up on beaches. They belong to different people. In the midst of “abducting”? another woman, police chase the homeless man into the woods. Following his capture, they are sure they have their killer.

But Lola and Alaska State Patrol Officer Joe Bill Brackett don’t think the homeless man is capable of the murders. Lola begins to look into the murders herself and Joe Bill longs to tag along. She lets him.

Meanwhile, Arliss gets sent to Deadhorse, Alaska to bring back some prisoners. The worst of the four are Nix and Spivey. He also meets APD Officer Jan Hough. Jan is surprised to meet him and says she knew his brother, Ethan, who recently died in an accident. At least, Arliss always thought it was an accident. Jan doubts it, but her investigation has run into a dead end.

The weather is deteriorating in Deadhorse. Their pilot is one of the people Arliss arrested in town for harassing a waitress and getting violent with Arliss. So, new pilot, another delay. They still have nine hundred miles to get home.

When the pilot takes a detour, things go badly wrong. They wind up in the middle of nowhere with the prisoners and a researcher and her two proteges. How are they going to get out of there? They are not on their flight plan.

Things continue to go very wrong. The prisoners are contentious and looking for trouble.

At the same time, Lola and Joe Bill make a startling discovery. They cannot contact Arliss. His phone is out?

Mim and Constance are still at loggerheads. Constance is in deep trouble, along with two of her friends. Will police protection be enough?

This is a tightly written and plotted thriller. Talk about non-stop action! I was on the edge of my seat for the whole ride! Mr. Cameron beautifully scripts his action scenes. I appreciate that the “hero” doesn’t bounce back up after being injured. It is much more realistic. I love his Arliss and Lola novels and anxiously await the next in the series. Will Ethan’s death finally be solved?

I want to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books/Kensington for forwarding to me a copy of this most delicious thriller for me to read, enjoy and review. The opinions expressed here are solely my own.

Mark Cameron continues to amaze me. This is my favorite in the series.

The pacing is episodic and drives you through each chapter like you're binge watching the latest Netflix blockbuster series.

The writing is fantastic, the character development continues to evolve, and the mystery around Ethan's death has me absolutely hooked. Cant' wait to read the next installment.

Marc Cameron's Cold Snap pits U.S. Marshall Arliss Cutter against the wilds of Alaska and a deranged serial killer hellbent on killing any and everyone.

Cameron is a hell of a writer and he has created probably my favorite character of his in Cutter. That's saying a lot because I love his Jericho Quinn character. Cameron has also created a serial killer that is the stuff of nightmares.

Along with the nightmare fuel, Cutter has begun hearing rumors about his brothers death that ensures we will see more of Arliss Cutter in the future. I can't wait to see how Cameron handles Cutter moving forward.

My sincere thanks to Marc Cameron, Kensington Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Cold Snap!

A tale of good versus evil set in intensely harsh conditions with survival a 50/50 proposition, Cold Snap will seep deep into your bones and set up residency like the unforgiving subzero temperatures of the wild Alaskan backcountry. Marc Cameron’s fourth book in the Arliss Cutter series will have you on the edge of your seat, wrapped tightly in the warmest parka you can find, wondering if the venerable US Marshall has finally met a situation he cannot control and overcome.

While Anchorage police find dismembered body parts and kick off a search for a serial killer, Arliss Cutter is summoned to northern Alaska to transport several prisoners back to Anchorage to face justice. However, this routine assignment quickly turns into a fight for survival when the bush pilot hired for the transport makes a detour to check on a friend who’s gone radio silent at a research outpost, providing an opening for the prisoners to attempt their escape. In the process, the plane is blown up and now Cutter, the pilot, the prisoners and 3 researchers are stranded in the freezing wilderness with little shelter, no communications capabilities and a huge grizzly bear stalking their every move. Meanwhile, one of the prisoners is more than meets the eye and is scheming to overpower Cutter to maintain his freedom. It’s a desperate fight for survival from the elements…and the dark nature of man.

Cold Snap is fantastic and my favorite in the series so far. There are multiple plot lines – search for a serial killer, surviving the Alaskan wilderness while fending off desperate criminals, looking deeper into Ethan Cutter’s death, and a budding romance for Lola – that work well together to provide excitement, intrigue, and meaningful character development. Readers get to see a supremely confident, capable and seemingly infallible Arliss Cutter put to the test in an extreme way with an uncertain outcome, showing his vulnerability and making him more relatable while also marveling in his mental and physical fortitude. We also get to witness Lola Teariki’s evolution as a US Marshall and as a person, being a party to her unflinching loyalty to Cutter as well as having a front row seat to a budding romance with a young Anchorage PD officer. And finally, Marc Cameron once again does a masterful job of making Alaska more than just the setting, but a living breathing character of its own that tests everyone in a way that you can feel, despite sitting comfortably in a warm and safe location.

Marc Cameron delivers yet again with Cold Snap, reaffirming what thriller fans have known for years – that anything he writes is a must read. The Arliss Cutter series continues to get better and better, with Cold Snap being the best one yet. And with the continued development of Cutter, Lola and the characters around them, combined with the many possible storylines featuring the great state of Alaska, this series has unlimited potential to thrill fans for years to come.

Marc Cameron has a sure hit with his latest novel, “Cold Snap.” This is an adventure with Arliss Cutter in a staring role. As a Deputy U.S. Marshal in Alaska, he gets called on to fill many roles including helping local police officials.

In this case, he is asked to fly up to Deadhorse for a prisoner retrieval and gets far more than he bargained for. With a plane getting burned, a grizzly tracking the party, and some murders at a lonely outpost that was also burned, there is enough adventure for an adrenaline junkie! Also don't rule out a terrible Arctic cold front moving in adding to everyone's woes!!

Cutter has a dedicated partner, Lola, who has been working with Arliss on a series of dismembered body pieces showing up here and there near Anchorage. It is her thoroughness and dedication to her partner that may save the day for everyone what with hungry wolves and grizzly.

Thrown in bush pilots, research scientists, love triangles and normal young love and this is an explosive novel that is sure to excite the reader. I definitely recommend this to readers and think you, like me, will find Cameron’s writing top notch.

Glad to have Arliss back. The story starts quickly with a variety of characters keeping it interesting. When the prisoner transport gets ugly, the story slows down—almost to a crawl.Cutter is a man of act, and I’m he’d be as frustrated with this section as I was.

Marc Cameron bats a homerun and raises the bar for all future crime-investigation thrillers with Cold Snap. It roared past all my expectations, ticking each box I had in mind for what constitutes a truly engaging and riveting reading experience.
Cameron seamlessly balances quite a few subplots, tied together by an invisible thread that tugs and unveils at the most opportune moment for the biggest shock and awe blindside. Arliss Cutter and his loyal and feral deputy Lola Teariki stumble across a serial killer whose calling card is a body part of his victims spread across the town. While the investigation is technically outside the purview of Alaska Fugitive Task Force, Lola follows the investigation with newcomer Officer Joe Bill Bracket while Arliss is tasked with a fugitive transport. What seems to be tow unconnected events come together in the most unexpected of ways to create a darkly disturbing narrative that you simply can’t tear yourself away from.
Cold Snap reads like a gritty Nordic crime thriller with its wintery sinister aura but with a faster pace of investigation and well-timed and well-executed action to keep you burning the midnight oil. Marc Cameron must base his characters on real-life personalities, otherwise it would be hard to explain how they seem so lifelike and engaging with palpable tension and chemistry sparkling all around.  Keeping Arliss Cutter’s combat training in perspective, Cameron writes authentically vicious action sequences conveyed with shivering cold intensity and sheer raw power of the blows and lead. Rarely are shootouts and fisticuffs so well written in crime-investigative thrillers.
It’s captivatingly magnetic nature grounds you in place as you read through the unfolding mystery and horror of the revelations. This is Marc Cameron at his finest yet.

A suspenseful roller-coaster ride takes you into the Alaskan coast in Cold Snap. This is the fourth book in the series and it's even better than the previous book.

A serial psychopath is on the loose in the remote northern town of Deadhorse, Alaska. The trouble is just beginning for this town and you will be on the edge of your seat until the very end!!

A great storyline and well-crafted characters make this a chilling must-read novel!
