An unusual murder brings Rachel Fisher back to Pike Wisconsin where she’ll be joining forces with her ex husband Zach Evans. Pushing low ket assignments aside, the pair focus on a new villain who will send them a video tape every week with a new victim.

This monster is intent on finishing a murderer from years agos work. The duo must put aside old habits and new rivalries and work together to stop this menace.

I liked the premise of the book more than the actual book. While it held my attention and the action started off fairly early, I did not like the characters.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoy Alexandra Ivy's Romantic Suspense books. They are comforting like a cozy mystery, but with a bit more of a thriller aspect to it. "Unstable" is no different, though it is a bit more violent than Ivy's previous books. The "suspense" part of the novel was really interesting and well-crafted, and we got an answer to a mystery first exposed in a previous installment of the "Pike, Wisconsin" series. The romance part, however, was just okay. I didn't really feel engaged by the main characters rekindling relationship, it was very much a case of telling and not showing as much.
Though I knew who the perpetrator was quickly, I enjoyed being thrown off course every so often in the narrative.

3.5 stars

(CW: rape and violence)

Unstable is the third book in the Pike, Wisconsin series. I have not read the first two but picked this one up and fell into the story without missing a beat. This is a second chance at romance story that just happens to be set in a highly suspenseful serial killer chase. A supposedly dead man shows up laying across his own grave with a bullet hole in the head. The actual body in the grave belongs to a missing woman who disappeared years before. Zac Evans is the acting sheriff of Pike and the case has him working along side his ex-wife and cold case detective, Rachel Fisher. Old feelings re-emerge even as the killer’s body count keeps growing. Full of twists and unexpected surprises, the story covers all the bases for a second chance at love and the best of romantic suspense for thrilling read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.

What a fantastic ride! I was given this book to give an honest review. This was a fantastic thriller. I hate when I can figure out who the killer is before its told. I totally had the killer wrong as well as the motivation of many players. That made this book so fun to read!

On top of alk the characters being well written you actually had feelings about them all.
This is definitely a must read!

After eighth years, a divorced couple rekindle their unlikely romance amid serial killer investigation. Zac Evans married his high school sweetheart, Rachel Fisher when he was eighteen only to divorce her four years later. Now thirty years old Zac is the sheriff in their town, Pike, Wisconsin.

Jude Henley, a suspect in an open cold case was found dead on top of his own cemetery. By coincidence, Zac met Rachel again when he was out on an investigation. Rachel is a cop handling cold cases and she believed the potential that Jude might solve more than one cold case. And soon, the two work together.

If you ask me, I would say that this book falls more into the thriller side. Because the romance was barely there it’s safe to say that it was mostly non-existence. Even though this book are categorised under romance thriller, I failed to sense any chemistry between Zac and Rachel in that regards because the serial killer things outweigh the two main characters’s romantic progress. For those of you who’s not into cheesy romance, I’m sure there’s nothing holding you back from giving this book a chance. And so, lose that frown off your face and save yourself some unwanted wrinkles then go grab Unstable by Alexandra Ivy on 26 April 2022.

Unstable is Book 3 of Pike Winsconsin series by Alexandra Ivy. I do like this book more than the previous 2 books that I read. The storyline is more gripping and Ms Ivy kept throwing red herring to her readers that I kept changing my mind as to who is the killer.

We're back to small-town Pike, Wisconsin and this time we have second chance romance with a serial killer on the loose. I really do like Zac and Rachel, eventhough they're divorced their relationship was not toxic. Infact, both still harbours feelings for each other and especially Zac who regretted walking away from their marriage. I must say that their romance took a back seat and Ms Ivy concentrated more on the suspense and horror of an unhinged serial killer on the loose. The story is engaging and with very little downtime. I'm liking this series more and more, hopefully we will come back to Pike soon.

Thanks NetGalley for the copy, this is my honest review.

Unstable is the 3rd book in the Pike, WI series, but they can be read by themselves. This book reconnects Zac and Rachel whose marriage was doomed by family tragedy and past decisions. They are on the hunt for a copycat serial killer targeting women in Pike. I really enjoy the author's romantic suspense books. There are lots of plot twists, action, and of course the sexy times.

This is the tale of two creepy serial killers. The page turner kept me guessing. Lots of ugly minded people potentially involved. The second chance romance was a pleasant diversion from the gruesomeness. No desire to live in Pike, Wisconsin. Too many unstable people living there according to the series. I wonder what will happen in the fourth one.

Unputdownable crime thriller with a nice romantic, not toxic, sub-plot. Although it was fairly easy to work out who the killer was, it was still an exciting read that reminded me of Karin Slaughter's work.

This was a great mystery/thriller! Not only was the story line crisp and interesting but the 2 MCs were excellent. Zac is the acting sheriff of Pike, WI and Rachel is a detective and they are also ex-husband and wife but as you read the book you will see they're chemistry is on fire! The book had many twists and turns some I kind of saw coming but most I didn't. It flowed very well and left me wondering when the next book in the series would be out! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for a honest review!

Alexandra Ivy is my go-to author for high octane suspense. She has returned to Pike, Wisconsin, a place where I wouldn't want to live based on the weather and the death rate, but the atmosphere sets the perfect mood for this psychological thriller. I wasn't able to figure out who the serial killer was until she revealed the culprit. I really liked Rachel and Zac their chemistry was on the level of Lynne and Kir's in book one. A not to be missed book for mystery lovers!

Riveting story, Zac and Rachel both work for law enforcement and they end up together trying to solve a case about a murder victim who was supposed to have died years ago but for some reason he wasn't until recently, These two are exciting to read about and untangling the the mystery surrounding them is so good. I really enjoyed that you were still left guessing up until the very end. Great story!

Unstable is the third book of the Pike Wisconsin series and my first book by Alexandra Ivy. Like the title, this book is full of twists and turns that will keep you hooked. A dead man in a cemetery is expected. However, Jude Henley is found on top of his grave rather than being six feet under. The body in his grave is Staci Gale, whose disappearance left many unanswered questions. Props to Alexandra for presenting strong, professional and competent characters (Zac and Rachel). The protagonists grew on me with every page, for there is an excellent mix of past and present events, which gives you a better idea of the characters. Apart from a great plot, Alexandra touches on essential topics of regret, grief and second chances. I could have never predicted the ending and was surprised by it. A 5 star read all the way!

I look forward to reading more of Alexandra's work.

A thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for giving me an advanced readers copy. This honest review is left voluntarily.

Thought I'd never see a functioning, non toxic second chance romance sub plot in a thriller but here it is!
This book is fast paced enough to keep you guessing and turning pages.
It's also written from multiple POVs including the killers which adds A LOT to the whole unsettling experience..

There's nothing else to say really, I enjoyed the suspence so much I read the whole book in one sitting but I'd say it's better to go into this as blindly as possible. The less things you know the harder the revelations will hit.

Thank you NetGalley & Kensington Books for the digital ARC

WOW! Suspenseful and edge of your seat novel, Unstable is exactly what the title infers.

This is the third book and can be read out of sequence. There are secrets, twists and turns and overall mystery that will leave you wanting more.

Zac is the sheriff temporarily when they find a man, shot in the head, laying on his own grave. Jude was supposed to be dead for over twenty some years. They dig up his grave and a woman is buried there. She was believed to have run off almost thirty years ago. Rachel, a detective, is on the cold case in her department and believes one of her cases connect with Zac. Rachel and Zac were married but divorced some years ago. Now they are working together to find a serial killer in their little town.

I loved this book. It will keep you on pins and needles. Second chance for love. Action. Suspense. Be prepared for an all nighter.

Fast paced and twisting. There were lots of possibilities and she did a good job hiding the true evil one! Strong men and strong women make for the best stories. Once they've recovered from all their mistakes, that is.
