I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. A very cute murder mysteries story. I enjoyed the main character and the story kept me engaged. It is a very easy read and perfect cozy mystery. I highly recommend. I would read more from this author.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for my ALC on NetGalley!

Genre: cozy mystery, first in a new series!
Pub date: 1/25/22
In one sentence: Carly’s dream of opening a grilled cheese restaurant has finally come true - but when her landlord is murdered, things get a lot more complicated.

Grilled cheese and a mystery?! Yes please. This story was just fun from start to finish - Carly is the kind of girl you’d want to be best friends with, and I loved her coworkers as well. Narrator Mia Gaskin did a great job bringing Carly to life - this was a nice relaxing audiobook to listen to.

This book is the first in a new series, and I was happy to see it focus on Carly and her business aspirations rather than bringing in a love interest immediately. I love a strong female sleuth/business owner!! Plus she adopts a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix) named Havarti - too cute!

The mystery was compelling with some good twists, and I did not guess the culprit. If you love cheese, dogs, and mysteries, this is a fun one!

I was thoroughly charmed by this story. Carly is back in her home town after her husband died and she has opened her dream business, a grilled cheese shop. With a foreclosure looming and sale of the building she is renting, her life appears to be upside down. Not a good birthday present for her. The next day, though, the new owner, Lyle, is found murdered outside her restaurant. Who is the murderer? This was so much fun getting to know the characters of this small town and I cannot wait to visit them again. Even though I started listening to this one just before I went grocery shopping and listened to it while strolling through the store, I didn't buy out the cheese counter.

I really enjoyed getting to know Carly in this new series. She is smart, loyal, and dedicated to her business (translation: she actually goes to work and sleuths in her off-time). The mystery was solid and had plenty of suspects. The writing was easy to follow and flowed well for me. The best part: the grilled cheese sandwiches were described just enough to make my mouth water. Recipes included for some of the sandwiches in the back. I will definitely try to make some of them and will check out the next in the series.

Narration was well done, no issues.

I’m a sucker for a cozy mystery especially those with a pun for a title because usually that means the author is going to share my sense of humor. This one was great! It is the first in a new series so everything was being introduced. I loved everything about it from the characters to the small town feel to the grilled cheese restaurant and especially the mysteries! I can’t wait to read the next in the series! I didn’t get approved for the audio version until after I finished the book so I went back and listened to a chapter anyway. I wish I had been approved first, the narrator makes the perfect voice for Carly and the surrounding characters, for the next book in the series I’ll definitely listen to the audio version.
