A really different witch story about a mature woman developing her powers late. Except that they are not middle aged this time, or post menopausal. Rather young with a child and husband. Again unusual in this trope.
I enjoyed it due to its differences from the norm and the concept of each witch coven having particular skill sets that other covens did not. And our witch was the last and only witch of her coven / skillset.
I Have bought book 2 and am disappointed that the promised book 3 has not been published. In fact I can only find these 2 books as being published by her on Amazon. Or on her website, which is a shame as it seems a promising series that has been begun.

This was an enjoyable paranormal cozy mystery! This book grabbed my attention right away and I really enjoyed it. The story and plot twists were great and kept me guessing throughout the book. I would happily read another book in this series!

I loved this book!!! I was not quite sure about it, but I read it and got hooked on the story. Any YA would love this kind of book. Especially if there was some action mixed in with the story and it did. Has a little bit of everything a YA would love except sex. No need for it here and it is a fun read.

I received a free copy of the book and is voluntarily writing a review

Ella Wentworth is a pianist. She enthralls an audience with her piano playing while performing with an orchestra. She discovers that her hair has turned white. She doesn’t know what to think. Then she starts seeing hallucinations as far as she is concerned. She sees a therapist and is told that she is a witch. She leaves in disbelief until she is surprised. Her therapist helps her. She goes to an alternative world that allows only witches to live there. She doesn’t know what to think or believe.

The mystery is action packed, funny at times and ended sooner than I wanted it to. The characters are so well described that I easily saw them in my mind’s eye. The plot has twists and turns. I thought it was interesting that the main character is also a mother and happily married wife. The ending left me wanting more of this series to read!

What a magical start to this new series. The author has a way of describing scenes and characters, so you can just picture yourself there. Along with a well written, interesting storyline to hook you and reel you in. Looking forward to a lot more in this one!

This is the first in the series and the author did a magical (pun intended) job of setting a strong foundation for the series and engaging all my senses
Great world building
Funtastical characters
A Captivating storyline that entertains

Ella is so far in the land of denial it isn't even funny
I really can't blame her though - How she stayed more or less sane through all of the events that rapidly occur I have no clue
I enjoyed her persistence or perhaps her acceptance (?) as well as her devotion to her family - Just made her all the more charismatic
The supporting characters (and they are characters) were spot on - They each brought something to the overall tone
I did have some areas that for me sort of felt repetitive or a bit slow - but then there is a lot of foundation building here and it did not detract or ruin the story - it truly is a "me" thing

If you enjoy your cozy mysteries with a strong dose of laughter and lots of mayhem then this series is for you

I found everything about this book satisfactory, including the story, its pacing, and its character development. The magic system is interesting and seemed consistent throughout the book. But none of the characters really resonated with me, including the protagonist. I felt that the book also didn’t have a “couldn’t put it down” element. I am glad I read the book but I am not sure I would read an ongoing series. Thank you to Netgalley for the advance reader copy.

This was a fun read, and I look forward to reading others in the series. I play the piano, so I enjoyed and appreciated the music angle. Scenes are vividly written, making it easy for the reader to stay engaged. Characters are well crafted, and there are enough twists to keep the reader guessing.

An adventurous cozy with shades of paranormal. The characters are quite fun. Ella is a witch, right? Pick this one up and enjoy yourself! Thanks #netgalley and #IndepentlyPublished for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Loved this story!

The Case of the Endangered Witch was easy to read and kept me guessing until the very end. Overall, it's about Ella and what happens when she obsesses over missing one little note in her performance. The concert pianist's hair turns white and everything changes.

Great read!

H.B. Chapman has penned a fabulous paranormal mystery in The Case of the Endangered Witch, the first in the Magic Investigations Society series. The story opens with Ella Wentworth performing as a piano soloist for the local orchestra but by the end of that night her world has taken a dramatic turn when her hair becomes completely white. As the story unfolds, she is informed that she is a part witch whose has just come into her powers.

Throughout the story, the author sets the scene and creates characters in such a way that the reader can easily visualize what is taking place at any given time. The number of red herrings, misdirects and plot twists as well as the utilization of mystical creatures and realms kept me reading until the very end. I hope that the author can continue to develop these characters in future installments and keep Ella moving forward while keeping a foot in both worlds.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was a solid 4 stars for me and a great debut book, as well as an introduction to a new series that should be a lot of fun. I'm a fan of paranormal fantasies, urban or otherwise, but I have not read one that was set in Australia. I was hoping the author would include more about the locale in this book, but it was enough to pique my interest. I also loved that the main character was a concert pianist and how the author used her aspirations in the plot. I found it refreshing that the main character was already happily married with a daughter that she adored and her love of them is what guided her decisions. At first, when I looked at the cover, I thought this might be a YA book, but no YA romance tropes here, I'm happy to say. In terms of the storyline, I enjoyed watching Ella try to figure out whom to trust (and solve the mystery along with her) and whom to fight, and I loved the friendships she developed along the way. There were quite a few plot twists, although I did predict at least one of the villains correctly. Still, there was enough mystery and excitement to keep me reading until the last page. While there wasn't as much character development as I was hoping for, I'm hoping we'll get more in future series. As for that, I can't wait to read more from this series!
