The beginning of the book was really slow to pick up but once it did it was better. The biggest issue I have with this book would be the timeline, it made it very hard to follow along with the story. I don't like books that jump around that much, it makes it harder to understand what's going on. Other than that, it was an okay read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.

Tiny Little Pieces by Jennifer Lucic is a psychological thriller that ended up being disappointing for me. The story revolves around Iris, who works as an art curator at a glass studio in San Francisco. She's just discovered she's pregnant, she's no longer with her fiance, and his mother has just been murdered. Plus, now, she's hallucinating. Will she ever find her way back to reality?

Here is a chilling excerpt from the opening chapter:

"Unable to look at it anymore, she stopped the drugstore test and watched it crash against the bathroom mirror. Her body fell limp over her bare legs as she collapsed on the toilet and shook in a fury mixed with utter dejection.
"How could he do this to me!" She lifted her head screaming as high and loud as her voice could go. A deep breath replenished her lungs, and she covered her face with her palms in a sob."

Overall, Tiny Little Pieces is a psychological thriller that doesn't start getting good until halfway through. The first half is like a drama about how domestic violence and drug / alcohol addiction can affect your life and those around you. I took off 2 stars, because of a scene in the beginning when a man catches his mom in the stall next door doing drugs, which was not enjoyable to read. The 2nd half turns into a psychological thriller. The twist was surprising, but ultimately unsatisfying. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of thrillers, you can check out this book, which is available now!

After a captive beginning, the climax of this book leads to confusion with contrasting ideas as you switch between the characters internal mental state and reality. It makes you take on the lack of control that Isla faces to generate anxiety within yourself as you lose grasp on what is real. However, it all seems to be tied up with a rushed ending that breaks the story flow with informal journal snippets to make it have an inconsistent impact.

This was well written and kept my attention. From the beginning, I felt that Iris was a very naïve pushover, and everyone she was surrounded by were awful. I felt sorry for her. I figured what was happening, but I didn't guess all of the twists, including that last one. For the sake of spoilers, I'll try to be vague, but I don't understand how we are seeing Elijah's POV of certain things. I'm not sure how that would be possible and still fit in with the narrative of the story. And also how he would be able to pull off what happens in the end. The story was good, but there were parts that didn't make sense.

I really enjoyed this book, it was well written with a good storyline and well developed characters. It was fast paced with twists, turns and unpredictability that left me guessing the whole way through. I really liked it.

I knew when I got half way through and it was divulged that Elijah was having an affair with Sarah that there was probably much more to the story line. Not to give anything away for future readers I was thoroughly disappointed in the dark and dreary the way this played out. I appreciate the opportunity to read and review.

This book did not grasp my attention and it was an addition to my do not finish list. Sorry, this is probably a better read for another reader.

I have to be honest, this book is not at all what I was expecting but in the best way. I knew there would be twists and turns, but not in the way these were written. I felt so many feelings for these main characters, their anger and sadness and confusion. There is a lot of trauma plot in the book and the timelines require a lot of brainpower to track. Still, it was so captivating and the end had my stomach in knots! I will definitely be reading Jennifer Lucic again!

I received a free ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review thanks to @netgalley, the author Jennifer Lucic, and the publishing house.

Tiny Little Pieces was an excellent book and a step away from my typical read. It was fascinating and sucked me in from the very beginning. Every time I thought I understood what was happening, I suddenly had no idea what was going on - but this was intentionally written in such a way. I NEVER would have seen the ending coming. Such a great read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tiny Little Pieces by Jennifer Lucic is a psychological thriller with some twists and turns. The story revolves around Iris, her boyfriend Elijah, and best friend, Sarah. Throughout the story, Iris struggles with confidence and communication. She often relives traumas from her abusive father and these flashbacks become distorted with the present moments. There is a love triangle. The story was very fast-paced. My few criticisms are that there is a little bit more room for character development, some phrases were repetitious, and although I didn’t see the ending coming, I was a little bit confused by it. I rate 3.5, rounded to a 4 out of 5 stars.

I was torn about what sort of rating shall I leave... I ended up with 3 stars. Why?
While the first part of the book did not really engage with me and I was wondering if the book was miscategorised, the plot picked up a nice pace and after one thrid in I was hooked and I know I needed to finish it. And finish I did, in one sitting, staying up until 1AM.
The pacing and the relationships were quite gripping, the storyline of an undealt-with trauma and how it wrecks the perspective of relationships, past traumatic relationship mirroring and the main character's struggles drew me in.
However, I found the timeline confused the heck out of me once I learned the twist and that just does not sit right with me. I think I would have to spend too much time untangling it all and see if it fits and that frustrates me.
I also enjoy a bit more flourished and emotionally descriptive writing personally.

I really enjoyed this book!
A true page turner and hope to read more of Jennifer's novels.
Our character here Iris, I felt so bad for her at times.
She truly was going through so many things. Her character was incredibly interesting to me.
I really loved the writing. Jennifer Lucic knows how to keep the reader engaged and turning the pages.
The plot itself is interesting, with enough cliff-hangers and (equally importantly) enough little revelations to make you want more, to make you want to devour the book completely. As I did.
It is a fantastic ride, and Lucic does a great job with both the mystery elements and the character development, with great attention to detail.
