Trying to branch out on my reading but this wasn't for me but it's well written.

I am very torn about what rating to leave.
Let's start with a mistake of mine - I did not notice this book was also classified as 'romance'. I have never read a romance book., as I am a mystery and thriller fan.
Nonetheless, I finally finished this book, with some trouble, as I was struggling to pick it back up - and I must admit I skimmed some pages.
Now for the review, in short - I felt like there was NO conflict at all. And a thriller needs some, it really does.. Everything just went ok, felt ok and nothing bad really happened - and if it did, the events did not feel sad or sombre, they were just .. again - ok!
Overall, I feel bad giving this book only 2 stars, but it just didn't excite me, it did not draw me in and it just was not my jam!

We love a thriller/crime/suspense romance! And we especially love a cowboy love interest. Danger Unknown follows a woman, Brooke, and her daughter who are on the run from the man who killed her husband and is trying to kill them. After six months of constant flight, Brooke and Izzy end up at the cabin of Michael, a war vet turned Montana cowboy whose unanticipated role in Brook and Izzy's rescue might just be exactly what he needed, just as he is exactly what they needed. Danger Unkown is a really fun, easy read that's perfect for romance readers who love an element of suspense and an air of life or death- and even more perfect for those who have an interest in horses and spirituality. Overall, the story was very enjoyable, however, the writing style didn't particularly resonate with me personally and I could have used a bit more oomph from the character development.

Brooke unexpectedly finds herself on the run in a desperate effort to protect herself and her young daughter following the brutal murder of her husband. While on the run, Brooke becomes injured and her daughter finds her way to the doorstep of Michael, living on a remote ranch with struggles of his own. From there, danger increases as Michael and Brooke fight to uncover and survive a deadly conspiracy as secrets are uncovered. A breathtaking pace that will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning pages well into the night as Brooke, her daughter, and Michael fight to survive and uncover the truth as the bond between the three develops. #DangerUnknown #ReadingEscape #JennReviews

Thank you to NetGalley for the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, and from the first chapter it really drew me in. There were enough twists and turns to keep one's interest and it was written well, however the overuse of adjectives did pull me out of the story sometimes. I got to like the characters, they feel well rounded and I enjoyed reading about them.

I read a lot of thrillers and they seem to get a bit same-y after a while, with the same characters and storylines reused, but this seemed quite fresh. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book. Brooke and Michael are great characters. Both are kind, caring and brave. I loved Izzy. She has gone through so much seeing her father killed and having to run with her Mother. She is so brave. I also loved the interactions with the horses. So many great side characters as well. A good plot.

I am not a person who ever really rates a book very low and I try to always find positive things to say about a book. However, that is a real struggle with this book. One issue I had with the book was the pacing. That is key in a suspense book to get the reader hooked and keep them reading. This book had so many unnecessary details which ruined the pacing. For example, I did not need such a thorough description of the proper way to shoot a gun. I found myself skimming and I really didn't even care if I finished the book or not. I only finished it because I had made the commitment to write a review. I didn't particularly care for any of the characters and found the twists to be unbelievable and ridiculous. I knew it was not a good sign for the book when my favorite character ended up being Peanut the dog.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

DNF at 57%. This book sounded so promising! In the beginning I was intrigued. However, the more I read the more bored I became to the point that I don’t care what happened to Michael. Maybe this author’s next book will be better.

Brooke Stewart and her daughter Izzy are on the run. From what or whom it’s unclear. Izzy ends up on Michael Calder’s front steps after she got into a car accident with her mom. Michael makes the split second decision to let Brooke and Izzy into his house.

Someone is after Brooke and is determined to keep her quiet. As Brooke and Michael navigate their complicated relationship, they begin to trust each other. When the secrets of their pasts are exposed will they still feel the same about each other?

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Danger Unknown is action packed from beginning to end. I was drawn into the book from the very first page and couldn’t put it down!

Brooke steward is on the run. She will do whatever it takes to protect her daughter Izzy from the man who murdered her husband. This book is full of twists and turns as Brooke learns to trust Michael, a war veteran, who puts his own life on the line to protect her and her daughter.

This is a great read. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good romantic suspense

'Danger Unknown' by Kathi Oram Peterson was a fitting title choice for this action-packed novel. In the opening chapter, we are introduced to the heroine, Brooke, who has to leave her job in a hurry, taking her young daughter, Isabella with her. Why? Because of the menacing character whom she is on the run from, of course. We are informed that he is her husband's killer and that Izzy witnessed the murder, rendering her traumatized and speechless since the incident. Sent to kill them on orders from Brooke's father, he has chased them for six months. While driving away, Brooke totals her car, leaving Izzy to seek help- and oh, does she find the perfect man to do so. Michael, living in a remote cabin with his dog and his horses, is a war veteran who battles with alcoholism and severe PTSD. What follows are a series of events, most of them hair-raising and stress-inducing, which ultimately concluded with a happily ever after.

If you are searching for a book that will have you engrossed because of all the action, this is the one for you. From the beginning to the penultimate chapter, the characters are embroiled in situations which at times, had me blocking my eyes. There were no dull moments and I have to say that was the best thing about this novel. I loved Michael, he was a realistic character, his struggles and joys leaped off the pages, and had me rooting for him. His interactions with Izzy melted my heart, and I loved how he loved her before he fell in love with her mother. I also liked the slow-burning romance between Brooke and Michael; it felt real and developed in a manner that felt true for two people with all the issues they had.

At times, Brooke made decisions that left me a bit frustrated with her; one instance which immediately comes to mind is when she declined Michael's help (even though he had already proved himself as trustworthy), while concussed and of course, got herself into trouble immediately afterward. Otherwise, I had no major issues.

In the end, I would give 'Danger Unknown' a rating of four stars, as it was a great read and I enjoyed it. The book was professionally edited, with no grammatical or spelling errors, making it was easy to follow the plotline as there were no distractions. This is acceptable reading for teens and up, as there were no instances of foul language or erotic content; even the romance between the two main protagonists was mild. I would safely recommend this to anyone looking for something fast-paced and adrenaline-pumping; be prepared to find yourself engrossed in the outcome of the story! Peterson did a wonderful job with this novel, and I am looking forward to finding more of her work!

*A big thank you to Covenant Communications, Kathi Oram Peterson, and Netgalley for a free advanced copy of this book. I was under no obligation to give a review.*

"Danger Unknown" is a romantic suspense. The main characters were interesting, likable, and reacted realistically to events. The mild suspense came from danger to Brooke and her daughter. A corrupt detective was hunting them, and they were barely keeping ahead of him (until the end). Brooke knew who had hired the assassin, but she had no proof and didn't know how to get it. She strongly didn't trust anyone in law enforcement because she didn't feel like they'd believe her. Michael and his friends not only protected her and her daughter but helped her to stop running and get the needed proof. Michael and Brooke generally worked well together and came to care for each other as they spent time together.

There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this romantic suspense novel.

In this book, I felt like I was right there with Brooke and Izzy as they had to run for their lives. The action was non-stop with plenty of twists and turns along the way. Six year old Izzy was so sweet! She had to grow up fast ever since she witnessed a crime and felt she had to protect her mom. I loved her and couldn’t wait for the bad guys to get caught and justice to be served so she could return to her childhood.

Michael Calder was such a caring man who immediately helped Brooke and Izzy because he saw that they needed him. He was resourceful and clever to know how to evade the men who wanted to harm Brooke and Izzy. I am glad he was there for them!

I enjoyed this romantic suspense and would recommend reading this. I was given an electronic copy of the book from the publisher through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I wanted to like this book, but sadly just could not. I felt like this book lacked proper pacing, and the plot got drowned by the copious amounts of details given. The romance was minimal and there were a lot of plot holes that were distracting.

This story drew me in immediately and took me on a roller coaster ride.
Fleeing for her life, Brooke and her young daughter try to stay one step ahead of her husband’s killer.
Randomly meeting up with an Iraq war veteran, the women now have new people in their lives who are determined to protect them at any cost.
But there is layer upon layer of betrayal, deceit, and threats to overcome.
Ranking members of state and federal government offices are often corrupt and yet get away with breaking the law.
While this story ends happily, it will give you an honest look at how hard it is to survive as the little guy.

This book.kept me turning pages. Suspense, iis generally a genre that I don't choose to read. Brooke and her daughter Isabella, are on the run. Going from place to place, trying to hide, from the man who killed her husband. It seems, no matter where they go, he finds them.
Isabella, witnessed her father's death, but hasn't spoken since. Knowing that her time is running short, Brooke places her trust in a stranger, to keep her and Izzy safe.
This book had so many twists and turns and held my interest.

This suspense will keep you in your toes! I quickly felt drawn to the characters stories and anxiously awaited what would happen next. Some parts seemed to go slow and others more quickly than I could keep up with. I enjoyed the background of the characters and learning their strengths.
