2 out of 5 stars

*Content warning: "This book contains explicit content and darker elements, including mature language, violence, and non-consensual sex. It is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age."*

This manga definitely isn't for me. I apparently didn't read the content warning because I would not have picked this up if I had known the themes (that's why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1). What I did like about this is that they're adults, the main character is likable, and the art was good. What I didn't like is the male lead, his personality, the 18+ themes, the multiple assaults, the obsessive second lead, and the complete lack of consent.

Disclaimer: I received an arc copy of this from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This yaoi is butterfly worthy!
I see a lot of people complaining about the mature content. I feel like it's pretty clear from the beginning that this is a sort of m/m, BL romance. It even says so in the description.
I loved the story. It's sweet, steamy fun, and heartfelt.

This was sweet at times and I liked some aspects, although the lack of consent was bothering me A LOT!!! It was nothing new and pretty short and while I do think it's still a sweet idea, I just can't get over what I mentioned...

This yaoi +18 was okay. I liked the art, but the story was simple and without any type of substance.

Quick review for a quick read. Ehhhh, this was 2.5 stars at best for me, and probably because I've read a number of stories with m/m yaoi dynamics that were more immersive with the character dynamic and weren't as heavy on the more problematic elements. There are a number of non-consensual interactions here, so take the trigger warnings seriously, all.

The main pairing was one that I liked. Kyouhei arrives to attend college in Tokyo from the country. That's a recurring punchline considering it showcases how he really doesn't know much about the city or life there. He moves next door to someone who seems like the city neighbor from Hell (Takara). Takara comes across as your usual playboy, sleeps with anything that moves, but has a deeply ingrained fear of bugs (I feel you at least on that, my dude.).

Of course this leads to them finding out that they have feelings for each other in some close encounters that are both their doing and not. I can definitely understand uncomfortable reactions to this manga based on the dynamics here - especially when the "best friend" shows up and another scene where poor Kyouhei ends up drunk by accident (per a spiked drink that was not meant for him, yikes). I didn't like it here either and it bummed me out because there were things that could have been done to create drama without going there. The story ends up bringing them together that has them fumbling through their feelings and their "first time", but for the way it ended, I feel like this has been done better and more fulfilling with other couples with their same dynamic.

For the side characters, Kyouhei's granny is adorable and I liked her a lot. I also liked Murachin, who was pretty much the quiet character meant to subtly drop bits of wisdom and support while also not so subtly make snide, funny remarks to Kyouhei's over the top reactions. It was a quick read and well drawn, cute in moments, but it could have been much better.

Overall score: 2.5/5 stars.

Note: I received this as an ARC from NetGalley from the publisher.

There was a problem downloading this for me, and unfortunately it archived before I could ever read this. I truly hoped that I could read this.

I did not expect this to have mature content 😳 did I loved it? Yeah! Will I continue the series? I do not know. But if you enjoy these type of stories I would strongly recommend this manga. The chemistry between the main characters was off the charts! 📈

ENGLISH REVIEW:

It's a story that ends in one volume, which read quickly and was great.
In this story, we follow two protagonists who are not alike. The mangaka uses the cliché of the city dweller who is going to go out with the countryman as well as the cliché of the extrovert person who is going to go out with the introvert person.
It's cute. The relationship is built rather quickly between Kyouhei and Takara, but the story remains pleasant. I liked the aspect and the importance of communication and honesty that is put forward.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an advance copy! All opinions are my own and are not biased.

This manga was adorable but it loses a few stars because the whole lack of consent is exhausting when it comes to BL. Still, the characters and artwork was really good so I can’t bring it in me to give it a score lower than 3.5.

first of all thank netgalley for providing me with this manga.

the story that we are presented with is that of Kyouhei, a country boy, who decides to go to the city to be able to study, however, here he meets his neighbor, a womanizer who is constantly bothering him for his way of being, Takara.

one day Takara sees an insect in his room and Kyouhei helps him, changing the dynamics of the relationship a bit.

Now, although the story is entertaining, it doesn't kill me, it's something I've read before, it doesn't give me anything new, on the contrary, it gives me a scene in which the best friend tries to take advantage of the protagonist and it's a big red flag for me, it was a part that was unnecessary. It was useless, on the contrary, because the friend never truly apologizes and is still forgiven. and for me it is a big no.

For me the manga deserves 2.5 stars out of 5.

After reading this manga, I have noticed a few things. The definite one being I love this genre of manga. The boys love genre, makes me feel all gushy inside and it's a great feeling. The artwork is great and I wouldn't change it for the world. However, I feel that the plot moved too fast and I found myself having to reread a couple of spots in order to understand why it moved so fast. I know it is a one-shot manga, with no intention of having a sequel (I hope there may ne one in the future, but I am highly doubting that will happen) but it moved way too fast. I wish it would have lasted a little longer.
Overall, the manga is a great one-shot and I would definitely recommend it to a few friends who love the boys love genre.

Kyouhei is a boy newly arrived in the city for university who ends up living next door to, Takara, a ladies' man, who, spoiler, ends up being bisexual. There is some non-consensual involvement between the two boys, which is mentioned in a disclaimer from the publisher but should be noted for those who wish to avoid reading about such situations. Kyouhei finds Takara's confidence and worldliness intimidating and off-putting, and reluctantly forms a friendship as Takara is determined to take Kyouhei under his wing. Takara tries to let Kyouhei know he's interested in being more than just friends, but Takara misinterprets his overtures for mockery of his country naivete. When an old friend from Kyouhei's hometown arrives and gets aggressive with Kyouhei, Takara, interestingly, steps in to rescue him and prevent the friend from taking advantage. The boys were all comically overly-dramatic, immature, and fairly clueless and their attempts to ineptly communicate and tendency to misinterpret just added to the drama. I liked the artwork, but it is definitely suitable for 18+ only.

It was a good story. Cute and adorable. Very quick to read. The images were well done. The characters were so fun .

Art was great for the most part but the story was littered with dub-con and MC consumed a spiked drink and was sexually assaulted by his best friend and neither situation was addressed. Also something felt off in the translation, it seemed very literal making some lines confusing.
I did love that Tomo, the playboy next door neighbour was scared of bugs.

I wanted to love this one so much. I've been in a mood to read more mangas lately and this one seemed absolutely perfect for me and I just loved the concept of it. The illustrations were also super nice and I adored them. But I didn't like how the relationship was done in this one and I don't really enjoy it when books kind of romanticize sexual assault and show it as something that isn't too bad and I felt like this one did this and that just did not work for me.

Even from the first chapter I could tell that I wouldn’t like this. There are multiple non-con scenes and they made me feel very uncomfortable. The storyline had potential but it was a) rushed and b) had a literal rape scene that was brushed aside immediately after. Almost every ‘intimate’ scene with the main love interest was non-con to borderline sexual assault. I didn’t like this at all if i could give it zero stars I would.

This was a cute, quick & entertaining read!

Kyouhei is an innocent country boy who moves to Tokyo to study; Takara, Kyouhei's neighbor, is a "city slicker" and cocky bad-boy player. Through a series of events, they end up spending more and more time together, mostly bickering, but also doing other things (ahem) — and, naturally, end up falling in love.

While the plot and the characters aren't all that developed (despite what the title might suggest, it's a pretty fast-burn), it's a fun time all the same. Though it's worth mentioning that there are some dub-con and non-con elements — you've been warned!

I liked the main characters and their dynamic, and the art style is absolutely GORGEOUS! 😍 If you're someone who enjoys reading BL, I'm sure you'll like this manga.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thanks to NetGalley for an arc!

I was hoping this would be more than it was. The SA under and overtones weren't thrilling, the relationship between the two mains felt rushed, and the consent seemed dubious at times.

I really wanted this to be good, but it turns out it just wasn't for me.

Ohh man, this was so cute!

Kyouhei was just the most adorable hot-cold bottom and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect playboy than the one in Takara. Kyou's innocent demeanor and the way he got embarrassed at the slightest touch had me smiling quite a lot, and Takara's fear of bugs was hilarious lmaooo. As much as I would have liked a slow-burn with these two, I think Shoko Rakuta still pulls off their character development nicely with these subtle things in this first volume for the readers to want more. Wish there was more smut though.
