I really enjoyed Reputation, and fans of Anatomy of a Scandal will too. The characters come alive, which sometimes isn't the case in fast paced thrillers. Recommended!

Thank you to NetGalley for letting me read this E-ARC copy in exchange for my honest review!

This better become a movie. It has to! I LOVED the suspense of this story even in the moments that felt redundant. The Author wove together so intricately each of the character’s storylines with such depth and intrigue that I couldn’t help but be a bit mystified at the end of it all. So well written and an absolute page turner! Two thumbs up. 👍🏼 👍🏼

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC. As we are all watching the Netflix series let us not forget who brought us this great thriller. I am recommending this book to readers who want to read about a successful woman who faces an ethical predicament.
The bestselling author of Anatomy of a Scandal returns with a new psychological thriller about a politician whose less-than-perfect personal life is thrust into the spotlight when a body is discovered in her home.

As a politician, Emma has sacrificed a great deal for her career--including her marriage and her relationship with her daughter, Flora. A former teacher, she finds the glare of the spotlight unnerving, particularly when it leads to countless insults, threats, and trolling as she tries to work in the public eye. As a woman, she knows her reputation is worth its weight in gold, but as a politician, she discovers it only takes one slip-up to destroy it completely.
Great book! 4 stars

3⭐️

I may be an outsider as many others loved the book, but I found it a bit predictable. It follows a woman who holds a high position, but gets put in the middle of a crime. It goes on to show what people in higher positions go through and the stances they have to take.

The last part of the book proved to be better than the first 70% of it. Not necessarily something I would reread, but not mad that I did read it.

This book was gifted from NetGalley for my honest review, so thank you 🤍

Emma is a British politician who is a champion of woman’s causes, and the mother of a teenage girl, Flora. When Flora gets in trouble at school, a journalist learns of the situation, and threatens to publish the story. Soon after, Emma is embroiled in a scandal that threatens everyone. Reputation is an aptly named thriller that explores several social issues, but at its core it questions just how far a mother’s love of her child will influence decisions, and the aftermath of those choices. Well written, plenty of shocks, and a thought provoking plot will have you thinking about this book long after it’s finished. Excellent! I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I asked for this book on an impulse after seeing a review of it from an author I follow on Goodreads. Unfortunately I did not end up loving this one. I just couldn’t get into it. I powered through because I don’t like to DNF arcs. I didn’t hate it, I just finished it and was like okay welp I read that I guess. I’ll forget about it by next week.

After reading and loving Anatomy of a Scandal, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read an ARC of Reputation and it certainly didn't disappoint. Really intense and covering some relevant themes - this book was a complicated but gripping read. Emma was a fantastic character, very well written and I found her perspective very interesting. It had everything I love in a psychological or political thriller and was actually a bit of an eye-opener!

Sarah Vaughan is the author of the bestselling 2018 “Anatomy of a Scandal”, which has been adapted into a new Netflix series charting the downfall of a rising-star British politico accused of a terrible crime.

Vaughan’s fifth novel, and third thriller, “Reputation” centres around fourteen-year-old Flora Webster’s mother, a former teacher and now an ambitious Labour MP. Emma Webster is implicated in the death of a tabloid journalist. Judgement, misogyny, the toxicity of social media, the difficulty of navigating your way through life, as a woman, either as a public figure, or as a teenager facing social-media loving frenemies.

When she launches a campaign to protect women from the effects of online bullying, the abuse steps up. And when her teenage daughter’s character is called into question, Emma learns how far she will go to protect both their reputations. In Emma, Vaughan has found a brilliant and flawed heroine who encapsulates the fears and frustrations of many of us.

There’s a courtroom drama at the heart of it; tabloid journalists; suspicions among MPs. Why do so many women still have to fight to protect their reputations in the 21st century?

“Reputation” is an elegant, wonderfully written and thought-provoking read.

Synopsis

Reputation: it takes a lifetime to build and just one moment to destroy.

Emma Webster is a respectable MP. Emma Webster is a devoted mother. Emma Webster is innocent of the murder of a tabloid journalist. Emma Webster is a liar.

#Reputation: The story you tell about yourself. And the lies others choose to believe...

A huge thank you to @Netgalley and @AtriaBooks.

Reputation by Sarah Vaughn. Thanks to @atriabooks @netgalley and @thisisedelweiss for the gifted e-Arc ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Emma us dedicating her political career to women and protecting their rights. When a man is found dead in her home, her rights are at risk.

This one went in a different direction that I was expecting, and I liked it. A large majority of the story was court room scenes, which I’m starting to realize I enjoy. The courtroom seemed realistic, but there was a lot of back and forth that got repetitive. I enjoyed the story but wish some of the secondary characters were dived into more.

“Perhaps if she was as brilliant as she’s lead us to believe, she’d have remembered that no good ever comes from sleeping with the enemy.”

Reputation comes out 7/5.

This was pretty good but a little soap operaish. It was a quick read but not great. I enjoyed the Netflix series based on her previous book, Anatomy of a Scandal, which was also good.

I found it hard to finish this book - I did not get attached to any of the characters and thought they lacked depth which made it difficult for me to connect with this book. The plot also felt very similar to Anatomy of a Scandle so I felt like it lacked originality. However the writing style was very easy to follow and I did enjoy the reveals in the last quarter of the book.

ARC provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This took me a while to get into but when I finally got there, I enjoyed it. It's a bit of a political-themed mystery/drama. There were some parts that truly shocked me and left me turning the page until way past my bedtime. Overall, I liked this book but I did not love it.

Thanks to net galley for the arc! I enjoyed this book. It was a palate cleanser for me. Quick and fun read.

I had this book on my list before watching Netflix's adaptation of "Anatomy of a Scandal." Sometimes, life is funny that way.

I had not even heard of Sarah Vaughan but she is definitely on my radar now. Being married to a Brit, I guess you could say I have an affection for all things British and the UK legal system is not exempt from that. I cannot wait to dive into more of Vaughan's titles.

I will say that if you struggle with sexual assault/suicide topics then make sure you are in a good space before reading this book. It doesn't get graphic, but there is enough in there to warrant a bit of a warning. The result is something that also deals with how complicated life, teenage years, politics, and the pressure on women in politics can be.

The only part of the story that left me a little bit . . .hm, dissatisfied? Was the ending. After watching Anatomy of a Scandal I had hoped that Reputation would leave me with a similar type ending and I don't think it did. I'm curious to see what others thought.

With all the buzz surrounding the big release of Anatomy of a Scandal, on Netflix, lets not forget the main reason why we have this fabulous mini series to binge watch........ Sarah Vaughan.

I mean, in truth, does she really need an introduction, It's Sarah Vaughan!!!

So, after reading Anatomy of a Scandal and also binge watching the series, I knew I would continue to read everything this amazing author ever publishes. This led me straight to "Reputation" . Even the title sounds incredible let alone the killer cover!

I am all about this book and you need to be too.

I instantly gravitate and admire a bad ass main character. Emma is literally the poster child for success but when a body is found in her apartment she is about to lose everything and we all know, reputation is everything.

Although at times the build up had me overly stressed out, I understand now why the author lead us in such direction, the ending proved to be one of the best endings I have ever read and was worth the wait.

So, my question now is, what are you waiting for? Head on over to your favorite online book store and pre-order Reputation! Due out July 5, 2022 I pinky promise, you do not want to miss this one!

Enjoyable and a bit nerve wracking. Sometimes the reader is beat over the head with the reputation topic, but the plot and characters draw you in and keep you reading to find out what's going to happen next.

What a compelling storyline. I inhaled this one. And I liked it *a lot* more than Anatomy of a Scandal.

This isn't really a thriller as much as it is a conversation starter. The book felt very much like it wanted to explore more than it could even though it wasn't short nor devoid of viewpoints. Had it focused more on the idea of revenge porn and the two sides of the bullying coin, it would've been more insightful; but it wanted to cover so much, that it spread itself too thin. However, as a book club book I could see this being interesting; there are a lot of discussion points and threads to pull on. I just wish the plot had been narrowed down a bit (and the trial been chucked altogether). I'll still be looking for more from this author.

Having read and enjoyed both Anatomy of a Scandal and Little Disasters by this author I was so excited to receive this from NetGalley, and Sarah Vaughn did not disappoint. This is a taught political/court room thriller and I was sucked into it from the start. I felt the tension the main character went through and the love for her daughter. I liked the political aspect and the way women are treated in a male dominated world. I was so absorbed into the story that I managed to read it in a couple of sittings, staying up way past my bedtime last night. I loved the different points of view and getting into each characters head, I love books formatted that way. Such a timely novel with internet stalking, young women being taken advantage of and bullying . Such a fantastic story, that will keep you on the edge of your seat and is deserving of all the stars.

I expected to really enjoy this book but sadly I can't say that I did. Whilst the writing style was good the storyline was laborious and dragged after about the first 20%. The same points made over and over and the second half of the trial felt like I sat through the whole trial; I found myself skimming over most of it. The characters weren't particularly likeable, which I don't mind but I didn't connect or find them engaging at all.
