I really enjoyed this new series. Gabriela Rose is an exciting new character and I look forward to reading her future adventures. It’s always great to explore strong female leads in a book. It was a quick read though, I would have liked to have spent more time enjoying this book.

It's a cross between Indiana Jones and Stephanie plum with the leading man who is a bit like Ranger and Deisel. I really enjoyed it. There were some areas when the talk of all the ammunition left me head-scratching but I really liked the chasing parts and the searching for treasure. If I had friends like Pepe, I could get many things accomplished, but legally. I am looking forward to Gabriella and Rafer's next adventure.

Thank you Atria Books, NetGalley and Janet Evanovich for this advance read

The Recovery Agent is the first book in a new series by Janet Evanovich. This is a quick and fun adventure. Gabriela gets herself into crazy situations on the hunt for the Ring of Solomon so she can save her small hometown. She teams up with her ex-husband and some great supporting characters. I really enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to the next installment.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am a HUGE fan of Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series, so I was hoping that this would be a new and exciting saga to read. Unfortunately, everything that makes me love Stephanie Plum was missing here. The dialogue was wooden, the characters were (shockingly) boring, and the plotline was contrived. I was so sad about this book.

Puts me very much in mind of her Stephanie Plum books, which I love. Quick-witted & crazy. A fast & enjoyable read. I'll be looking for the next book in this series.

I enjoyed getting to know this new heroine of Evanovich's. Gabriela is a bit more capable than Stephanie Plum, but still manages to get herself into some sticky situations and plenty of hijinks. This was a quick, lighted hearted romantic adventure.

I received access via Netgalley, but my options are wholly my own.
I've been intrigued by this author for awhile, but haven't gotten around to reading anything before of hers. This being something new and not connected to her others was a great opportunity. I enjoyed the story, but there were definitely a few hokey moment. However, that's pretty typical with things in the Indiana Jones style since it's hard to imagine treasure hunting to actually happen/succeed so it'll seem a bit unrealistic at times, but the interplay between the characters was great! I really found myself rooting for and eagerly awaiting their next hijinks.

The Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich is a brand new series that have you standing up and cheering! If you love Stephanie Plum, you're going to adore Gabriella Rose! Gabriella is almost the exact opposite of Stephanie. Stephanie always gets the job done but not without bumbling her way through and needing rescuing. Gabriella is the one who's going to be doing the rescuing! This girl has it all going on. Brains and beauty, Fashion and food... She can create a mean meal on a gourmet level while planning a treck through the jungle to recover lost treasure. Strong and independent, she can take care of herself and she knows a 100 ways to take a man down when threatened. She has a strong right hand female assistant and ends up partnering (reluctantly) with her ex husband on an adventure inspired by an old family legend. Of course the ex is sexy as heck...cue the "frustration".
I can't remember the last time I read the debut in a new series that I enjoyed this much! I can't wait for the next Gabriella Rose adventure!

The Recovery Agent is the first installment in a new series by Janet Evanovich, It features Gabriela Rose, who was introduced in the last Stephanie Plum book, "Fortune and Glory: Tantalizing Twenty-Seven".

Gabriela Rose is a recovery agent who's job is to find missing assets and treasures. With the help of her ex-husband, they go on a mission to recover lost treasure because they need the money to help save their small South Carolina town, which was hit by a hurricane and is struggling to survive.

They work with a drug lord's family against a demonic cult leader who is also looking for the same treasure, which includes the Ring of Solomon. Finding the Ring of Solomon could bring. a huge payout for Gabriela's family, which would help her rebuild her family's home and town,

If you like Stephanie Plum, you will thoroughly enjoy Gabriela Rose and her journey to save her hometown. I would recommend this book to any fans of action, adventure and humor. It's a fun and easy read.

The Recovery Agent kicks off a new series from Evanovich and I am here for it! Gabriella Rose is a world traveler who finds lost items for her employers. So, the setting of the book is filled with unique places and experiences and the characters are delightful!

So, many readers are familiar with the Stephanie Plum series. I was a bit worried this would be another series just like that one. But, Gabriela is very dissimilar and that made me able to enjoy this as a truly new series. Gabriela is smart, driven, worldly, and dangerous. While she is normally globe trotting to recovery an item for a client, this time she is trying to save her small hometown in South Carolina after a hurricane. You get plenty of interesting side characters that really make things fun, and the settings are a definite bonus over Trenton, New Jersey.

If you wanted Stephanie Plum to be more badass, try The Recovery Agent because I think it will really appeal to readers. Gabriela certainly has the Lara Croft/Tomb Raider vibes which is very empowering! There is danger, missing treasure, a crazy cult, and an ex-husband. It's bound to be interesting!

The novel opens with Gabriela Rose, Recovery Agent, who with “an international reputation for excellence” searches for and retrieves various items for a living. For example, there are billionaires in search of rare items, or insurance companies who want her to investigate claims believed to be fraudulent. This time, however, it’s personal. Her family hometown of Scoon, SC was ravaged by a devastating CAT 4 hurricane, and is so desperately in need of repair that many families are fleeing to other towns. Insurance costs are prohibitive, and no one in town can afford it. Gabriela’s parents and grandmother refuse to leave, and want her to go in search of the treasure of Pizarro in accord with family lore. However, due to an odd divorce settlement circumstance, her ex-husband is in possession of the treasure map, and insists on joining her. Not only doesn’t he trust her to split the spoils with him, his parents still live in and refuse to leave Scoon as well. Along the way, they constantly fight with each other and must also battle a drug lord (and his army) as he searches for the same treasure. What could go wrong?

I could write an extensive review on Janet Evanovitch alone, who is one of my all-time favorite authors! In typical style, she combines mystery with humor, love interest, and beloved characters. The Recovery Agent is no exception. I struggled to put down the novel throughout, and thought the characters were very well-developed. The storyline was fun and exciting, the prose descriptive and intelligent, and the protagonist and antagonist fleshed-out beautifully, as were all of the supporting characters. For some readers, it will include the suspension of belief, as it does all good fiction. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable read from the attention-grabbing beginning through exciting conclusion, and I’m honored to have been chosen for a review.

I’d like to thank NetGalley, Janet Evanovitch, and Atria Books for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a classic Janet Evanovich. Which I love, the characters are quirky and full of personality, and not just the main characters, but even the side characters. I love the dynamic between Gabriela and Rafer, and I look forward to more of their adventures.

Janet Evanovich has created another unforgettable female character with this brand new series. Gabriela Rose is a recovery agent and her job is to track down and find lost treasures. While she usually works for big shots with tons of money, her latest case is much closer to home because her own family is asking her to find a map that will lead her to the Ring of Solomon and the lost treasure of Cortez. Along the way she runs into her ex husband Rafer who has the unique ability to drive her crazy. While searching for the ring that could solve all of her family's problems she also discovers that a dangerous man also wants to get his hands on the ring and he will do anything and kill anyone to get it.

I love the easy banter that we could clearly see between Gabriela and Rafer as the story picked up pace and we saw more of them together. The way Janet Evanovich can have you laughing out loud at what one of the crazy side characters has done in one moment and the next you're gasping at the main character barely escaping certain death is insane. My favorite characters are the women that are strong, independent and successful and Gabriella ticks off all the boxes in this new series. This book is the definition of adventure with Gabriela trekking through the jungle, handling wild animals, searching for treasures that have been hidden for centuries and going head to head with a crazy and murderous drug lord. This was a quick and fun read that has me eagerly waiting for the next in the series. I wish we were able to see and learn more about her family but maybe we'll see more of them in the coming books.

Thank you to Netgalley and Atria Books eGalley for the digital copy of this book with me in exchange for an honest review.

The Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich was a page tuner that I just couldn’t put down. This new series is a delightful read, and full of interesting fun characters. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of The Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Gabriela Rose is a professional recovery agent, traveling the globe to return lost heirlooms to their rightful owners. This time, it is her own family, that is in need of her services. Along with her ex-husband, Gabriela hunts for a mythical ring that will save their hometown. Chaos and danger are around every corner as the two exes fight their attraction and the bad guys to come out triumphant.

If the Indian Jones films and Romancing The Stone had a love child, it would be this book. We have everything from action, romance, and witty banter to make our literature journey enjoyable. Janet Evanovich also provides us with an oddball assortment of characters to help our protagonists get out of all their scrapes and jams. Pretty much, if you enjoy her other series, you will want to give The Recovery Agent a try.

Think Indiana Jones meets Stephanie Plum, and you'll understand what The Recovery Agent is all about. We first met Gabriela (the title above adds an extra "L" which is not how it is spelled in the book) Rose in Fortune and Glory: Tantalizing Twenty-Seven--she is all about lost treasure, investigating insurance fraud, and finding missing items of any sort. In this book, she is after the Ring of Solomon in order to help save her family's town that has been devastated by a hurricane. We meet her ex-husband, Rafer, who joins the hunt, as well as a plethora of "nice" criminal helpers and some not-so-nice people who want to foil her plans.

This is an enjoyable read, there's not a huge amount of substance or thinking involved, but that's what I've come to expect from an Evanovich book so I was not disappointed. There's a lot of chasing, globetrotting, and, yep, you guessed it, explosions of all varieties (and some involving vehicles). Gabriela isn't as ditzy as Stephanie, she knows how to use a gun and definitely does use one many times. The romantic tension between Gabriela and Rafer is fun, but because they grew up together and have a history it totally reminds me of Morelli and Stephanie. (And Gabriela has a mom that cooks dinner at six, a dad that watches a lot of television, and a Grandma who talks to a ghost named Annie.)

In general, this is a fun new series and I will continue with it for a while to see if it covers any fresh new ground or if we will have the introduction of a Ranger-like romantic foil...

Gabriela Rose has made an appearance in the Stephanie Plum series, but this book is all her own to kickoff a spin-off series. Gabriela is more intentional in her trade of finding things - both people and objects - and does not stumble into situations like Stephanie, although the trademark humor is still evident. In this series debut, Gabriela is looking for a treasure to save her hometown after it was decimated by a hurricane. Although she no longer lives there, her parents and lifelong childhood connections have her loyalty. Reluctantly teaming up with her ex-husband, Gabriela travels from country to country trying to stay one step ahead of El Dragon who is seeking the same treasure as she.

I love Janet. I always have and will always read anything she writes, but I just wasn't sold on this series. There was not a lot of background on Gabriela in the beginning, just a major jump into the action which left me scrambling to figure out the character of Gabriela herself. As I mentioned earlier, there was some of the trademark humor, but it was just "off" with Gabriela's character. I'll certainly give book 2 a try, but I'm not as excited about it as I am the next Plum book.

I love a strong female character so I had an inkling I was going to enjoy this book from the start. I loved that there was more of a serious tone to this book with some depth. All around it was a solid and enjoyable read! Was it groundbreaking and a top read of 2022? No but I would still have no problem recommending it one bit!

Evanovich has done it again. She never misses with her formula of relatable female lead, dreamy but frustrating love interest, and a funny grandma.
