I’ve never read a writer quite like Shea Earnshaw. The utter lushness of every word she’s written is unrivaled. While I have yet to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas, I completely fell in love with this beautiful tale of fighting for the ones you love no matter the cost. Reading about Sally becoming the Pumpkin Queen and learning who she is was so poignant and something I needed. What a gorgeous, gorgeous book!

Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for an advanced copy of the book.

This was a sweet, fun read! I'm definitely biased on it since The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorites but I thought it was a really well-done follow-up to the original story. Plus, getting more time for Sally is always great!

After being crowning Pumpkin Queen, Sally struggles with her new role and whether it's really for her. Sally & Zero stumble upon a doorway to Dream Town and puts the entirety of Halloween Town in danger. This truly is such a fun ride. We meet up with familiar characters and locations throughout. We get background on Sally's past and learn more about the other holiday towns. There is just so much to love in Long Live the Pumpkin Queen. Truly perfect for ALL ages, readers will be thrilled to get their hands on this delightful sequel. Highly recommended!

From the start I thought this was a cute little sequel to The nightmare before Christmas.
The writing was a little weird for me. It was a mix between middle-grade and YA but that didn't take away from the story.

In the first chapter and the last chapter, there was a brief (one sentence) mention of same sex love interest, but that's the extent of it.

I love how much the author incorporated the movie with the story. It honestly felt like a true sequel. As I read about the characters, I could see them in my head......but WHERE IS OOGIE BOOGIE!!!!

This is probably one of the easiest 5 stars I will give all year. Being a 90's baby(born in 89), it's hard to NOT love The Nightmare Before Christmas. On top of that I have a spooky soul. So this was just bound to make me happy. I think even if the book was just mediocre I would have still given it high praise because it's the sequel we've all wanted.

This is TNBC through Sally's eyed and it was such a lovely way to view things. It felt both old and new. Like coming home but also going on vacation. Truly loved this story and it would be amazing to see more of these that continue or give more insight to the Disney movies we

This book was everything!!! As a huge NBC fan I was of course excited for this book and it didn’t disappoint. A great “sequel” to a beloved movie and honestly I hope they make more books like these I want all the Disney YA books

Long Live The Pumpkin Queen is a cute & chilling fast paced adventure perfect for spooky season! 👻
It was so cool reading this story from Sally’s perspective
After being crowned the Pumpkin Queen, Sally struggles with self-doubt & is constantly questioning whether she is fit to rule beside her husband Jack 🎃
But after discovering a hidden tree that leads to a mysterious dream world, Sally realizes she accidentally set a monster loose… a monster who is putting everyone to sleep… forever
Soon, sally goes on an adventure to find a way to defeat this monster and wake her people and the man she loves
But will she be able to conquer her fears? Or will she succumb to the doubt that festers in her mind?

Ahh this was so much creepier than I thought it would be but it was also super sweet and cute! I loved visiting the other holiday realms and getting to see the sweet relationship between Jack and Sally in a different perspective

Overall, this is a great story for spooky season and Nightmare Before Christmas lovers will sure enjoy!

The Nightmare Before Christmas is my all time favorite Halloween movie. When I saw this book announced I was so excited! I also had really high hope for it and let me tell you that it loved up to all my hopes and more.

This is truly Sally’s story. It’s so fun seeing the world through her eyes. Sally and all the characters we love from Halloween town definitely feel true to the film. Shea Ernshaw was able to perfectly capture the spirt of everyone.

Sally and Jack are perfect together. But, what we really see is Sally coming into her own. She goes from a shy rag doll how doubts herself to a strong confident character.

The magic and the whimsy is all in this story. I read this in one day I just couldn’t put it down. It has all the fall and spooky vibes while also being light and perfect for anyone of any age.

The writing is so prefect for this world. It’s magic, it flows, and it just has the certain magical something that transforms the book into a story that reaches out from the page and sucks you in.

We get new characters that are so fun to meet.

Overall, this is an easy 5 star read. I just love this Sally and I cried from happiness once I finished it. I’ve already pre-ordered 2 copies and will be reading it again, and again,

Thank you to NetGalley and Disney Publishing Worlwide for this eARC copy.

Long live, Shea Ernshaw! This is a delightfully wicked and Halloween filled novel told from Sally's perspective from the Nightmare Before Christmas. I LOVED it. I love Nightmare Before Christmas, so this story was already on my wish list.

Main Premise: Sally and Jack have finally sealed the deal and gotten married! They honeymooned in Valentine's Day town (which I hadn't seen before - so it was super fun to see what that town was like - I like the sweets and the cupids flying around best!). But once back from their outing, Sally doesn't feel like she's royalty material. After a particularly grueling day of being modeled into the queen that Halloween Town thinks she should be, she escapes into the woods with Zero. She passes the main cropping of holiday trees and keeps going into parts of the woods normally not traveled. She stumbles upon a door with a blue moon on it... and goes through! Read this one to find out what's behind the blue moon door. Will Sally make it back to Halloween Town? Why was this door forgotten and hidden? What will Zero do? Will Sally ever feel like a proper Pumpkin Queen? Will Sally's romance with Jack flutter out or remain strong? If cupids escape into Halloween Town on Valentine's Day, would there be some unexpected romances as a result? This novel will answer all those questions and more!

What I loved most:
We find out some scandalous gossip about where Sally is really from!
We get a glimpse into Queen Elizabeth's library (creative idea, but not too much time is spent there)
When the cupids get to spend Valentine's Day in Halloween Town - the pairings are excellent!
Zero - what's not to love about him
Sally and Jack's Honeymoon
The glimpses into Valentine's Town and St. Patrick's Town
The growth of Sally's character - she goes from no confidence and self-deprecating to a QUEEN

I will read this at a later date, but please stop sending ARCs out right before a book published 🥲 I need time to read and for it into my review schedule

What an unexpected story that we didn't know we wanted! Sally has married Jack and fulfilled hers dreams except now she's the Pumpkin Queen. Apparently, that involves more than just cuddling up with Jack all day and Sally is not feeling it.

What is really cool about this story is we get some background information on Sally which is just unique and exciting to know. Sally also gets to do a little exploring in some of these other doors that I think we all wanted to know more about and now we can! The book is extremely atmospheric and you never forget your dealing with an inhabitant of Halloweentown.

This is a must read for any Nightmare Before Christmas fans and I would say even fans of Disney retellings would enjoy this as well because did not actually like The Nightmare Before Christmas but really enjoyed this!

This is such a lovely continuation of the classic Halloween movie. It will spark a lot of critical thinking in middle grade, young adults, and adults alike. Even though Sally is a fictional character, she is greatly relatable and Shea Ernshaw did an amazing job bringing her to life.

Absolutely adored this book in all of its spooky, fantastic gothic romance. The writing was so gorgeous and Ernshaw was a perfect fit for this. The audio book is very well done too, with the reader sounding very similar to Catherine O'Hara's original Sally voice.

Thank you to Netgalley & Disney Press for letting me read this story early in exchange for an honest review.

Nightmare Before Christmas? Continuation from Sally’s perspective? Shea Ernshaw?? SAY LESS!!! Absolutely LOVED! Sally did not get enough credit in the original movie for everything she overcame in order to save Jack, and this story took that a step further. Sally is a tough cookie and this story proves that over and over again. She is so timid and unsure of herself because of everything she’s been through, but when it matters most she is able to put all of that aside for the people she loves. Super cool visiting all of the different holiday towns, and I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just say there were quite a few things that took me by surprise. Highly, highly recommend!! I knew I was going to need this book in my life, so huge thank you to NetGalley and Disney Publishing for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Long Live the Pumpkin Queen is told through the voice of Sally, now married to Jack and the Pumpkin Queen of Halloween Town. She really struggles in this role and the expectations everyone has for her. When the pressure becomes too much and she runs away she discovers a door to a new town (each Holiday has their own town and a door in a grove of trees that provides access to them). Unfortunately, Sally accidentally releases something sinister upon all the towns and she is the only one who can fix it. She makes some surprising discoveries along the way. Cute story. Loved Sally in the Nightmare Before Christmas. This is really a story about her confronting her past and finding the strength she didn't know she had. It took a good long minute to get going and the book really shines in the last third. Would recommend if you're a NBC fan.

WOW WOW WOW! I loved this book! As a big NBC and Tim Burton fan this book delivered. I was worried it wouldn’t match the aesthetic or atmosphere of the movie, but it did! It was like watching a claymation sequel in my head. The plot was whimsical and spooky, and we finally got to see the world through Sally’s eyes. The intertwining of folklore and fantasy was so fun to read, I haven’t been glued to a story like this in a really long time. I really loved revisiting this world, Ernshaw did a wonderful job. “Boys and Girls of every age” will really enjoy this book! 🎃🧡🖤

2.5 Stars. Long Live the Pumpkin Queen would make a great read for an unmotivated reader who enjoys the movie The Nightmare for Christmas. The reason? It is a reversal of the movie with Sally being the hero and her desire for more and different leads her down a similar path that Jack took in the movie. Did I enjoy the idea of the book? Yes. Was it a bit predictable? Again, yes, but I can see the appeal for a reader who struggles to find something they would like to read. Cute? Yes. A reread? No.

Long Live the Pumpkin Queen!
Shea Ernshaw created a great novel showcasing the role of Sally Skellington. The expansion of the world was simply nostalgic and gives us what years of love for The Nightmare Before Christmas left us desiring. Although not completely necessary to watch the original film before diving into this novel, it is definitely recommended. Overall, a easy quick read novel that is sure to bring happiness to those who love both Jack and Sally.

Like many millennials, I grew up watching Nightmare Before Christmas and was obsessed with Jack Skellington and Sally. This book was made for us...and of course those in other generations too.

It's a sequel of sorts and focuses on the amazing Sally, showing even more how awesome she is and getting more on her background as she has to save not only Halloweentown, but the other holiday towns from eternal slumber.

“I am a rag doll who married a skeleton king. A rag doll who woke from the impossible daydream and found herself in her own heroine story—a tale whose ending hasn’t yet been written; but instead, is only just beginning.”

This book starts with Jack and Sally’s wedding several weeks before Halloween. Sally deals with feelings of inadequacy and when something mysterious threatens Halloween Town, she is the only one that can stop it and save all of the holidays.

Throughout the book, Sally visits several of the other holiday towns. I love how each town is portrayed with its own unique characteristics. It was described exactly how I would imagine seeing it would be through Sally’s eyes and she questions why things are a certain way. I think her curiosity with the Easter eggs was a favorite part of mine.

We learn a lot about Sally’s backstory in this book as she struggles to find herself and becomes the heroine she needs to be, grow into the Queen she deserves to be. I loved seeing her learn her own strengths and decide things with confidence for herself when choice wasn’t something she had before.

Sally’s love for Jack was truly what kept her fighting to save him and the towns. I’ve always loved Jack and Sally, but seeing everything through Sally’s eyes and how she feels about him was incredible.

“Can the fool of a story also be the hero? Doubtful. But I have loved Jack for too long, to let him be fated to a life worse than death. A life spent in a nightmare he can’t wake from. I would cross a thousand thresholds into a thousand different worlds for him.”

I’ve been obsessed with The Nightmare Before Christmas and I feel this was a fantastic follow up to the original movie. This was the story I wanted for Sally with the ending everyone deserved, including the villain.

Moral of the story: Sometimes all you need is a good nap.
