A well done storyline that keeps the book moving and the reader engaged. If you enjoy a story with depth and feeling this one is for you.

Not a bad read but I feel like there are better thriller choices out there. And really this isn’t that much a thriller as it is desperate housewives/mean girl written as literature.

Unlikeable characters and annoying dialogue--just couldn't get into this one. I got a little lost in the POV transitions and ultimately this was just not the thriller I hoped it would be when I picked it up.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and Bloomsbury USA for the gifted e-book ❤️

Wow. This was different than I thought it would be. It reminds me of Desperate Housewives. It's catty, creepy, and I couldn't look away. The women in this book are so interesting. I wouldn't want any of them as friends. 🤣 I highly recommend this!

Social outcast Liv finally meets the friends she's always longed for (Beth & Binnie) at mommy and me class. Fast forward a few years and they add outspoken, take charge Ange to the tight-knit group. Things start to unravel when Ange plans a dream vacation to Greece for the four families, that Liv's family really can't afford.

The ladies' behavior felt a little too high school clique, high drama at times.

This fast-paced read jumped timelines between the present day vacation in Greece and various events leading up to the trip. Occasionally the timeline jumped mid-chapter and left me slightly confused. The storyline kept me turning the pages but the ending was a bit underwhelming.

All in all I enjoyed the book.

Thank you to Bloomsbury and NetGalley for an ARC of this book

Thank you Netgalley & Bloomsbury USA for an eARC of Little Nothings by Julie Mayhew.

This thriller is set on the Greek Isles, a stunning backdrop for the story. Liv meets fellow new moms Beth and Binnie and knows she’s finally found friends for life. Everything is going great in this new friendship trio - That is, until Binnie introduces Agnes to the group. She’s rich, beautiful, and completely changes up the dynamics of the group. The others follow, but Liv struggles to fit in.

New joiner Agnes suggests a trip to Greece to celebrate their newfound friendship. Agnes makes it clear that Liv will always be second best, but Liv isn’t going to give up these new friends that easily. This is a trope that's sometimes overdone - Girls trip goes wrong - But I found this one to be an entertaining and quick read.

The world of motherhood. Trying to find common ground. Trying to reconcile the fact that this scary new life is dependent on you. Luv Travers and her tight circle of mom friends are on holiday . Ange is new to this group. The Little Nothings referred to in the title, are the misconceptions, the slights, the forgotten invites to events that Ange has endured trying to fit in , until she doesn’t. It’s a Mean Girls plot that escalated beyond control.

I apparently made the mistake of reading the synopsis of Little Nothings by Julie Mayhew and went into it thinking it was going to be a thriller. I don't know who decided to call it that, but to me, it wasn't a thriller at all. This story is more like a reality TV show about female friendship filled with lies and betrayal, with a dash of thrill at the end. I do think Mayhew did a great job of showing the intricacies of friendship between women, and all of the little barbs and lies that can make them toxic. Especially if you have a bad apple in your group of friends. There is plenty of drama throughout, as well as some domestic suspense aspects, and for the most part, it focuses on Liv's friendship with the other women and how awful Ange is.

The biggest surprise for me came from the ending, and I found myself being very shocked at the way Liv acts. I don't think I really liked any of the characters, but that just upped the drama factor and I think if you love the Housewives franchise, there is a good chance you will enjoy Little Nothings. The audiobook for this was really what kept me interested (besides the drama of course since I always love that), and Louise Williams was absolutely smashing as the narrator. Her narration never faltered, and the entire audio was very well done, so I highly recommend listening to the book. There wasn't a whole lot about motherhood in the book either and I feel like the synopsis was way off besides noting the friendship angle, so please take it with a grain of salt. Even though this was a middle-of-the-road read for me, I would definitely consider reading another book by Mayhew.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this advance copy read. This was a short read but not a good read. The writing was not very good and the book did not make a lot of sense.

Thanks to Julie and Raven Books for an advance copy of Little Nothings.

It took Liv most of her life but she finally found her ‘girl gang,’ a group of girls that she feels connected to and can totally be herself around. And then Ange joins the group and throws the whole vibe off for Liv. Things are suddenly flashier, more extravagant, and Ange is calling all the shots. Liv and her husband are struggling financially but she refuses to say no when a trip to Greece is planned. Once in Greece, Liv is even more off-kilter. She keeps arguing with her husband, all the girls, their spouses. She feels out of place and finds herself drawn to a stranger staying on the property as well. The longer the vacation goes on, the more she begins to question her friends, Ange specifically, and becomes determined to take Ange down.

Little Nothings features a couple of my favorite tropes – toxic friendships, vacation settings, and a cast of unlikable characters.

Liv is self-involved, full of doubt, and kind of a shitty wife. Beth and Binnie are fickle and spineless. Ange is just, she’s the girl you hated in high school and had good reason to.

Overall this book is not likely to change your life, but it’s a fun toxic friendship revenge story set in a beautiful location. In addition to the main themes, we also get a little domestic subplot with all the girls and their husbands / children.

My main criticism would be that there was some repetition of points that slowed the story down. It may have been intentional as a way to reiterate which characters did/said what, but to me it was not difficult to keep them separate so I found it to be redundant and detracting from the actual plot.

for such a short book i was honestly pretty bored for most of it. i really liked the premise but it ultimately was predictable and forgettable

This was just okay for me. It was like a 3 week long high school drama filled vacation.

We follow the main character, Liv's, pov. She's never really had many friends, but when she meets Beth and Binnie they create an airtight bond, or so she thought. When Ange is introduced into their group Liv now feels on the outs and she can't keep up. Her and husband, Pete, struggle financially, so when Ange offers to pay for their trip to Greece she agrees for fear of missing out. Who would take out a handout like that? Crazy!

There was too much drama and finger pointing cattyness for my liking. Also, it seemed the story jumped around at times leaving it hard for me to stay engaged because it took me a minute to figure out what time period we were in.

I was lucky enough to both read and listen to this one. Louise Williams did a fine job narrating, but she made Liv sound like a bratty teenager at times. 8 hours and 38 minutes and easy to follow along at 2x.

Based on the blurb, I was really interested in this book. Sadly, I did not connect with the characters. Also, I found the writing rather disorganized and choppy.

Four women and their families are set to spend three weeks together at a resort in Greece. They're the best of friends and should be having an absolute blast in paradise...but they're not. Not having the fun they expected. And maybe the friendships aren't quite as good as they thought. Someone isn't what she's been pretending to be.

I enjoyed this book, which is an entertaining train wreck of relationships. The whole thing is told from Liv's point of view and it's told mostly in order, occasionally filling in details from the past to explain what's going on now. The transitions were abrupt but worked for me. I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending. It went the way I expected. but not quite.

“…I altered my character and denied my feelings to make people like me…”

I’ll let you guess which of the unfriendly friends in Little Nothings this describes. It won’t take you long but there are surprises on the way.

Liv has always had a hard time making close friends but after she bonds with Beth and Binnie at a baby music class, all become an essential part of each other’s lives. Her husband Pete sends a warning, telling her that he doesn’t like the way she behaves when she’s with the group but she pays no attention. Then comes Ange, the newest friend, and they’re off! Off to over-the-top shopping, meals at London’s finest restaurants and finally off to a three week holiday at a luxury resort in Greece. By now Pete is back on the job market and Liv is working to add to the paltry family income. But there’s no stepping off this merry-go-round. Something or someone will have to give. It won’t be pretty.

Little Nothings is a fun, fast-paced read that could easily translate to a reality TV show. The difficulty I had reading it I attribute to the formatting of the ARC. The spacing is off, mysteriously names Ange and Kenny are never capitalized although that was just annoying. The plot jumps back and forth, a technique I usually like, but here one sentence ends and the next shoots the reader into the past without spaces, asterisks or style variations to illustrate breaks. Little Nothings received a glowing review from the New York Post this weekend so I’m assuming that the final edition shows the results of careful editing. 4 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bloomsbury USA and Julie Mayhew for this ARC.

I was greatly interested in reading this book after I read the summary. Mean girls who turn into mean mothers and women is usually an interesting topic. However, I just could not get into the story. I didn’t like any of the characters. The writing was a bit choppy and I didn’t get the ending at all. It wasn’t for me.

Liv is a woman that has always struggled to make friends and maintain friendships. It's not that she doesn't want them it's more that she always feels awkward or not quite worthy of their attention. Until she meets Beth and Binnie. These two ladies have embraced her and all her quirks with no questions asked. She finally feels like she belongs and after nearly a decade of friendship they are still tight as ever.

Until. Dun. Dun. Dun.

Ange.

Binnie meets Ange and insists on how much they will like her. She's funny, spontaneous, and a hell of a good time. Liv is leery but Binnie insists and before she knows it they have become a group of four doing everything together. The problem is that Liv and her husband don't have the same money as the others but her need to belong has them running up a debt they can't possibly repay. When Ange plans a three week trip to Corfu for all the families to attend Liv knows that they can't afford it but Ange insists on paying for them no strings attached. Or so Liv thinks.

"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."

Pop that popcorn, slather on that butter, pour a beverage of your liking and sit back to witness an unforgettable battle between so-called friends. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. All the barbs and snide comments masquerading as care and concern had me riveted. My hatred for Ange growing more and more with every turn of the page. It's been awhile since I've read a toxic female friendship story and this one was done masterfully and the Corfu setting had me as intoxicated as the characters in this novel - minus the hangover, of course! 😉 SO. MUCH. FUN!!! 5 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloomsbury USA for my complimentary copy.

Catty female friend group goes on holiday to beautiful Greece? Yes please! This book has a definite Big Little Lies vibe however I really struggled to dive into the beginning trying to find something to grab onto, there is a lot of information presented. The story is solid, with twists that kept me guessing and I loved the dark humor and Greek vacation setting. Thank you Netgalley, Bloomsbury USA/Raven Books and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Toxic "friendship" and mean girls loom large in this novel about Liv, a woman who finally. as an adult, found fiends. Binnie and Beth were her besties from the moment they met in a Mommy and Me group. Until Ange joined the party. Richer, more polished, and assertive, she begins to take over the scene. Liv and her husband Pete can't really afford the three week vacation in Corfu she's arranged but Liv can't let Ange have the satisfaction of totally pushing her out so they go. This moves back and forth in time to explain why Ange is focused on picking at Liv. There's a large cast of character and it sometimes seems live an episode of Real Housewives but it's also compulsively readable. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Will make a good beach book.

Not the book for me, I stopped reading at 30%. I hated the characters and didn’t like the author’s chaotic writing style. I’m sure others will love this one it just wasn’t for me.
