"I don't need your money, I just need your hand in marriage"

The synopsis of this book gave me very high expectations but the book didn't quite meet up with them. Rich girl x poor boy trope with fake dating and a marriage of convenience. I wouldn't call them enemies nor rivals really, the only reason they don't like each other is because Lucas is "the help's boy" at a posh private school and rich people don't like poor people! There a definitely a bunch of cute moments in the book that kept me interested. I would have LOVED! if there was flashbacks to high-school Posylucas. In the prologue there where parts that made me so hopeful for the subtle relationship of Posylucas in high school, they had to work together as head boy and head girl, Posy accidently defending him? Lucas secretly supporting her photography while her friends minimized her? and then we got nothing from high school them.

- rich girl x poor boy
- fake dating x marriage of convenience
- time jump (10 years)
- dual pov

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Netgalley & Harper Collins UK (One More Chapter)!

High school enemies Posey Edwins and Lucas O’Rourke reunite at their ten year class reunion. Both are struggling financially. Lucas needs a big new investor to keep his business afloat and Posey’s wealthy father has finally cut her off. Posey approaches Lucas with the scheme of a fake wedding/marriage as a way to help them both. Posey will look more responsible and Lucas can gain a wealthy client in Posey’s father.

The Reunion is a fun twist on the fake dating trope. Posey and Lucas are at odds all through school but slowly begin to realize they may not be so different after all. Both have goals and ambitions for the future. Both are loyal to their families even when their family members seem to not be on their side. I really liked the final chapter and epilogue.

I do wish that the author would have included more flashbacks to Posey and Lucas’ school days. I think it would add some further insight into their dynamic.

I really enjoyed this book! I felt that the enemies-to-lovers and fake dating tropes were executed really well, and I liked that there was a realistic amount of arguments / dislike / confusion between these characters during the book regarding their unfortunate circumstances, rather than an instant transition into romance. I thought the pacing was great, and I was eager to turn the page and see what would happen next. I liked how class and wealth were explored amongst the plot as well. Will definitely be recommending this book to others!

"The Reunion", by Elizabeth Drummond, had a storyline that caught my attention: two former high-school rivals meet up years later and must now work together to get what they really want. Posy Edwins comes from a well-off family and everything comes easily to her, not that she would work hard for it anyways. Lucas O'Rourke is a scholarship student who takes everything seriously and has to claw his way to the top. In high school, they were bitter enemies. Now, however, after meeting back up at their high school reunion, they decide to work together to help them both. Along the way, sparks start to fly.

I really enjoy the classic "enemies to lovers" trope. However, I didn't think either of these characters were particularly likable, especially Posy. It was hard for me to root for them. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

The Reunion is a super charming book! Reunion followers two characters, Lucas, a wealth manager and Posy, a photographer. They have a history, ten years ago in high school they were the competing head boy and girl. The school had a running joke that it would pay for the head boy and girl's marriage because they always hated each other. They meet again at the high school reunion. Neither of them are exactly happy where they're at in life, so they reach a beneficial agreement to get married. But they start developing feelings. . . This book reminded me of dynasty and marriage for one. It also has lovable side characters and addresses issues like social class. I'd recommend for anyone who likes academic rivals to lovers, enemies to lovers, slow-burn, and fake-dating.

A lovely funny uplifting read!

Two high school rivals. Ten years later. A vow not to fall in love. School reunions: the perfect opportunity to catch up with old friends, dazzle old foes, and basically show everyone that your life could not be going better.

But for Lucas O’Rourke and Posy Edwins this isn’t quite the case. Lucas is about to lose his business unless he finds an investor fast, and Posy’s father has cut her off financially, just when she needs to get to Hawaii. And a reunion is the worst moment to come face-to-face with your rival. Ten years ago they hated each other, what could have changed since then?

I loved this!
