Sarah Goodwin's debut Stranded was excellent, original, tense and it had a great momentum. I was really looking forwards to this one.

Lucy lives in the shadow of her childhood secret, her early childhood was spent living in a cult. As an adult she has a highly respectable husband and a comfortable middle class life, until her secret gets out.

I enjoyed the setup, and the first half was very promising. Lucy has depth and has an anxious paranoia which got me involved. My favourite parts were the fragments childhood memories of life in the cult.

I would class it more of an in-depth, fairly dark themed character story than a thriller, I found the second half slow, I wasn't deeply involved enough with the character to carry my enthusiasm through the slower sections.

Sorry to say I was a bit disappointed overall.

OH MY GOSH i enjoyed this book it was well written with a gripping and engaging storyline and well developed characters. It was a compelling read that was dark and disturbing at times with twists and unpreductability that had me guessing right up until the end. I loved it.

Lucy Townsend was just a child when she barely escaped a cult. As an adult, new married, she has little memory of her past. But that won't stop her past from finally catching up to her in this heart pounding thriller by Sarah Goodwin.

I've always been a fan of books revolving around cults and this one did not fail to impress and capture the atmosphere of this very subject. It was as every bit disturbing as it was heartfelt. The only thing stopping me from granting this one a perfect five stars was that at times, I felt it could of picked up the pace just a little bit here and there but overall this was a great read and would definitely recommend this to readers.

Sarah Goodwin really is a master storyteller. Weaving a gritty, edgy, sometimes distrubing, highly gripping storyline. This one will have you up late at night trying to desperately find out what happened and who did it.
