I never read Ink, Iron, and Glass but this was so fun and definitely makes me want to! I loved the time travel, the adventure, the characters, all of it! I'm shaking with anticipation for the sequel, and i need it right now! It's been a long time since I've read something so unique, so 10/10 for execution, plot, and the cast.

Ms. Clare has a way of weaving stories of time/space and little confusion and making it all come together in the end to one beautiful focal point. "In the City Of Time" had me hooked, a touch confused at times, and then pulled me right back in to piecing together all of the events until I was saying "OHHH" every couple of chapters. Great read, and will be following more of this author's work. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC for early review. Formal review will be on Amazon, Goodreads and IG.

this was a great time-traveling adventure, it had what I expected from a time-travel book and I enjoyed going through this book. It had great scifi elements and was a good adventure novel. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed going on this journey with them.

"Sharply, Jaideep said, “What did you do? You keep saying you’re not a puppet master, but it kinda seems like you’re jerking us around.” Saudade turned one of those impenetrable stares upon Jaideep, who clammed up. Urgently, they said, “These next few steps must be timed precisely for this thread to work, so I need you all to do as I command.”

What an adventure!!!
This book has it all: time travel, alternate history, ethical quandaries, androids, and a diverse cast of characters.
In the City of Time is a fast paced "save the world" novel. It is set in the same universe as Gwendolyn Clare's first duology (Ink, Iron, and Glass), but you didn't need to read those first to understand this one.
It's a bit timey-wimey, so you need to pay attention to understand what is happening. I really enjoyed the interactions between the characters.
The only bad thing is the wait to get the other half of the story!!
Definitely recommend if time travel books are your jam.

Thanks to #Netgalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for an early copy for review

I didn’t like that the book just ended without really wrapping up any of the storylines. I haven’t read the related series so I may check that out while waiting for the sequel.

This is going to be.. EPIC

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for an early copy of this book!

Over the past week I finished the Ink, Iron & Glass duology and was desperately wishing I could find a way to get more of it. This book is it. It is set in the same universe as Gwendolyn Clare's first two novels, which I absolutely loved. First of all, it was done perfectly. I was giddy through the whole experience.

I loved the characters so much. They were diverse, dynamic and interesting. Their interactions were, in my opinion, very realistic and it never felt like anyone was out of place (unless they were obviously intended to be). The dry humor and sarcasm was spot on for my tastes.

The cherry on top is that it's not over yet. This, of course, left me with a bittersweet feeling. I have to wait for another book but at least there is going to be another book!

Time travel, fantastical worlds, diverse characters... this book has it all, yet it is lacking in just about everything else. I struggled to get through this one and almost gave up multiple times, by the end I was just skimming so I could be done. I then realized that the familiarity was because I had tried to read her other duology and could not finish that one either. I don't think they are bad books they are just not for me. The YA audience is strictly where I would market this one to and not as a cross over, little to angsty.

My rating only reflects my read, not how well I think it will do mainstream.

This book was absolutely fantastic. I've already added it to our list for order this year and will recommend it to students.
