A book I will recommend again and again. A captivating read with great characters and storyline.

This book was interesting. I really enjoyed the 'lore' surrounding the mage wars and the politics of the people. Bonnie Vanak has an interesting take on these legends and I liked her vibrant imagination. Overall I thought the story flowed really well with some great action scenes. That being said it was a very sudden start and I struggled in the beginning to get into this. A little extra world building and time spent introducing the mage lore would not have gone a miss.

Generally I am not the biggest fan of the 'former lovers' plot. However, I did like Kelly and Sam together. There was a lot of chemistry between them that made this an interesting read.

All in all this was a very entertaining book and I would happily read more of Vanak's writing in the future.
