My rating for this book increased in the last half because the first half was weird, the hero came across as controlling, ruthless and judgmental jerk. He manipulated the heroine and I so didn't get his obsession with 'duty'! The heroine felt abandoned by her parents, when as a 12 year old they sent her to another country, alone, suffering from a disease that left her with scars and self-esteem issues. The book does become better later on and the writing was good.

Not for me, although this might appeal to a different reader. I just didn’t empathize much with the heroine.
