The comical story continues and the 🔥 gets turned up with Finlay and a couple of love interests. Finlay thought her hit person career was over…but there’s more. Now, someone’s is trying to kill her ex-husband. (I laughed out loud at her response when she found out).
You definitely want to read this series! And I think there’s another one coming because there’s no way the end of book two was the last of Finlay Donovan!
The things I loved most: the portrayal of a mom trying to live her dream and take care of her kids. The struggle was so realistic and you just feel for Finlay. Vero, the live-in Nanny is hilarious and such a complex character throughout the series so far. Not to mention, she’s Finlay’s number one fan, right hand woman, and fierce friend.
One small gripe: there was more than once instance where a character posed as someone else and I found it a little unbelievable. So just let that go and the rest is cake 🎂

Excellent audio!!! The perfect narrator for Finlay. I wouldn't change a thing. My full review for the story can be found below:
Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead is the second book in Elle Cosimano's ultra-modern and uber-witty Finlay Donovan Cozy Mystery series. I fell in love with Finlay and her best friend/nanny, Vero, when I read Finlay Donovan Is Killing It last year.
The humor was spot on for me and the storyline entertaining from beginning-to-end. Going into this installment, I didn't even read the synopsis. Frankly, I didn't care what they were up to, I just wanted to be back with these characters. Unsurprisingly, I found this second book to be just as fun as the first. I also feel even more attached to Finlay and Vero now. We've been through so much together.
After the contract killer fiasco of book one, you would think that horrendous and dangerous chapter in Finlay's life would be ancient history. Alas, it is not. Now she fears someone may have put a hit out on her ex-husband, Steven. Granted, he's pretty terrible, but her children are with him a lot and they love him. She needs to keep him safe.
As if that weren't stressful enough, she also has her literary agent breathing down her neck wanting her next book, as well as two handsome, eligible-men circling her like sharks. Finlay's life is non-stop chaos and I'm telling you, it is so much fun to go along for the ride!
Reading through Finlay's perspective is hilarious. She has such a dry, matter of fact way of relaying what's on her mind. You can tell she is a Mom who is juggling a lot. She doesn't have time to beat around the bush. I love her relationship with Vero. Even though they were sort of thrust together, they're committed to one another and I love that type of unconditional friendship.
I have no idea how many books are currently slated to be in this series, but you better believe I will be picking up every single one. I am personally hoping for maybe ten or twenty...
Thank you so much to the publisher, Minotaur Books and Macmillan Audio, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I love this series with my whole heart. If you haven't picked the first book up yet, now is the time to do so!!

What a great sequel to Finlay Donovan is Killing It.. I loved that this book picks up right where the last one ended,
(but you don't have to have read the first one to understand what is happening in book 2) and I look forward to book 3 picking up with the plot as was foreshadowed. Finlay is like Lucille Ball in a mini van, bumbling into murder and mayhem, Russian gangsters and an assortment of funny situations while juggling work and kids and love interests. I was entertained for the entirety and the book was a quick light read.
Angela Dave does a great job of narrating. She smoothly transitioned between characters and chapters and events and was easy to follow. Her reading was light and fun which is what this book was meant to be.
'This chapter was definitely not in my copy of 'What to Expect When You're Expecting.' I wanted my money back.
Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for providing me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

When I read the first Finlay Donovan book, I adored it. I laughed and laughed and laughed. I hadn't heard much about it so it was a wonderful surprise and when I saw the sequel coming, I knew I wanted to get my hands on it as quickly as I could.
It did not disappoint.
In this story the mystery is about a listing Finlay sees on the online forum (disguised as a mom's forum but we all know it's a place you go when you want to get rid of people) about someone posting to get rid of her ex-husband.
So, of course, Finlay feels compelled to figure out who wants her ex gone and she jumps with both feet in.
As with the first book, havoc ensues.
Everything about these books are funny and light and joyful. It's not possible to laugh at the characters and to also root for them the whole time. These books are fantastic on audio and a really great read when you want something light and joyful.
I hope there will be more.

3.5 stars
Author Finlay Donovan and her live in sitter/BFF Vero once again get involved in a hitman for hire scenario, this time for her ex-husband Steven. I enjoyed the second Finlay novel slightly more than the first one.
Narrator was pleasant to listen to.

Finlay Donovan is back with the same cast of characters, and finds herself trying to track the person who has put a hit on her ex-husband. With the same quirkiness and suspense as the first book, Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead is a quick and enjoyable read. Bordering on the unbelievable, this is not your typical thriller and reads more of a suspenseful who-done-it. The ending had an unpredictable twist, and the book set up the possibility for a third in the series. I absolutely loved reading this book and would highly recommend to someone in search of a lighter and engaging mystery.
Thank you to the author, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this audiobook. #FinlayDonovanKnocksEmDead #NetGalley
Rating: 5/5

The audiobook is way too robotic and the quality is really low. There were a few instances I could understand the narrator. I ended up not finishing this. Also the main character complains too much.

Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead
(Finlay Donovan #2)
by Elle Cosimano
Angela Dawe (Narrator)
Sometimes I find the second book in a series to be let-down from the first. Especially if the first book was such a surprisingly funny hit. I was lucky to receive an audiobook ARC of Finlay Donovan Knocks “Em Dead. I was not at all disappointed! It was as much a hilarious ride as the first Finlay Donovan book.
In this book, Finn and Vero dig themselves deeper and deeper into trouble while trying to save Finn’s husband from a killer for hire. The sexy detective Nick is on the scene, as well as a new love interest. Vero might be the funniest character I’ve ever encountered in a book. I laughed out loud several times. I really cannot wait to find out what they get up to next.
I read the first Finlay Donovan as a print book and wasn’t sure what to expect from listening to the second as an audiobook. I needn’t have worried Angela Dawe did a wonderful job narrating. Her interpretation of the many different character voices was spot on and so funny!
I highly recommend listening to Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead and want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to review this book with my honest opinion.

Finlay Donovan knocks ‘Em dead by:Elle Cosiman
A special thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The second book in this series was even better and more discombobulated than the first. These remind me a lot of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich that I also really enjoy.
It’s seems like things had just settled down from Findlay’s last disaster when the new one, hot cop and all started. Finlay discovers that someone is using a woman’s forum to badmouth her ex-husband Stephen and wants him killed. Steven may be a lying cheating scoundrel but he’s a good father and she doesn’t want anything to happen to him. So Finley and Vero her nanny/business partner/friend set out to solve this latest mystery. There are flying bullets, stolen car, frozen dead bodies and molotov cocktails and more surprises than I could have imagined! I can’t wait for book 3!

FINLAY DONOVAN KNOCKS EM DEAD by Elle Cosimano
I read the first book in this sequel in ebook format and if I continue in the series I will go back to that format.
I did not enjoy the performances. And the combination of the characters and implausible storyline lent to the characters being paper-thin, absurdly naive, and overall annoying rather than being charming and unknowingly likable.
I wanted to like this one more than I did.
I recommend to readers looking for a good time rather than a realistic one.

Thanks to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for this advanced copy!
Out next week!

The single mom, aspiring author, and accidental hit man-for-hire, is at it again in this second installment of the Finlay Donavan series. With the help of Vero, arguably the world's best babysiter/nanny, Finlay has to track down the anonymous person that has put a hit out on her ex-husband.
Much like the book, Finally Fonavan Is Killing It, this one is very fast-paced with a side of romance and an ending that leaves promise for a third book.

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Finlay Donovan does it again! I loved this story just as much as the first one. This series is the perfect combination of mystery and humor.

I’m quite literally obsessed with this book. I had quite a few chuckles, loved the characters, and the story line. I got introduced to this series by Net Galley. Now normally I don’t like to start a book series randomly in the middle like this but the author did a good job filling in the parts I missed even though I didn’t read the first one. This was a cute mystery series with a powerful female lead. The narrator did a fantastic job putting you into the scene and it was very easy to differentiate between characters. I’d totally buy this book and book number one as well. Great read!

After reading the first book by this author at the end of last year, and the cliffhanger it ended on, I couldn't wait to see where the story would lead.
It's safe to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this one too! I loved that the plot picked right up and moved fast! Finn and Vero are one of my favourite twosomes! They end up in the most ridiculous of situations and use hilarious antics and wits to figure it out. On more than one occasion, I was smirking away at the way things were unfolding. And Vero's one liners are so great!!
If you haven't read the first one, do it! The hot cop and attractive lawyer make appearances along with the mobsters. This book was so fun!! And I'm already ready for the next one!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy on audio! I'll be waiting on pins and needles to hear about book 3.

Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead was a truly forgettable read. It was fine listening to it as an audiobook because I enjoyed the narrator, but if I had tried to read it physically I would have definitely DNF'd it as quick as possible. The characters were all interesting, so I think that was probably one of the most redeeming parts. However, so much was going on and there were so many side plots sometimes it felt hard to follow. I’m highly disappointed as I was certain I would love this book to pieces. I’m glad so many others have been able to connect with this book and cherish it. Just not the book for me.

I loved this book! And the audiobook was incredible! I loved that they brought Angela Dawe back to narrate this second book! She does such a good job with all of the characters and she is the perfect voice for Finlay.
This book is so fun and is the perfect sequel to Finlay Donovan is Killing It! This story picks up flawlessly from the first book, and Elle Cosimano once again transports us to Finlay’s world of diaper changes, novel writing, and trying to stop murders for hire. This book is such a joy to read and I loved the mystery!
Once again, this book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, leaving me so excited for a third installment, but wrapping up the key points in this book as to leave the reader satisfied and wanting more all at the same time. So well done! I love how strong Finlay is and all the strong, amazing women in this book. Elle Cosimano has done it again and I am here for it!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, for this free review copy.
Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead was such a great read! I never got around to reading the first book, but will be now! I loved the characters! The mystery aspect kept my attention from start to finish. I would love to be Finlay’s friend 😅 Throughout the book, I was cracking up, and so invested in what I was listening to. I didn’t want this book to end, and listened here and there, so I didn’t have to be done. I am so excited for the third book, and highly suggest to snag a copy when it is available February 1st!

The 2nd book in the Finlay Donovan series did not disappoint. It contained all of the funny banter, ridiculous scenarios, fast paced action, surprise turns and great characters that made me fall in love with the first book. The relationships from the first book continue to develop allow us to get to know and love the characters even more. I like the author’s ability to tie up loose ends while at the same time adding a final sentence that leaves the reader ready and excited for book #3. If you are looking for a fun, quick, and suspenseful read check out this series.
Thank you to Net Galley and Minotaur Books for the Advanced Copy.

Finlay Donovan is struggling to finish her next novel, while also struggling financially as a newly single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she's dealt with lately is that of her daughter's pet goldfish. On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Whatever else Steven may be, he's a good father, but saving him will send her down a rabbit hole of soccer moms disguised as hit-women, and a little bit more involvement with the Russian mob than she'd like. As Finlay tries to juggle her writing career, keeping Steven alive, finding out what secret Vero has been keeping from her, and juggling the two men in her life, she is quickly comng to the end of her rope
This audiobook was so much fun. Angela Dawe did an excellent job narrating. I loved Finlay and Vero. They got into so many scrapes, and had so many screwups, but they always had so much fun. There was non-stop action, and I had trouble stopping at the end of a chapter....I always wanted to listen to just one more to find out what was going to happen next. The book ended on a cliffhanger, so I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. This is perfect for fans of Janet Evanovich. I highly recommend it for any mystery lovers.
.

The first sentence in the book is grasping… The author made sure to know how to grab your attention with this one. Life and distractions keep getting into the way? Seems like my everyday life. This book I consider an easy read, it’s not overflowed with multiple story lines, and it’s not one that I wanted to put down. I enjoyed this book so much. I feel like theirs secrets upon secrets in the book, and I’ve loved it! I love the fact is comedic, secretive, and very well written all into one!
