I cannot even express to you the amount of joy and excitement I had when I was approved for this book! I LOVED the first one in the series so I knew this would be another winner for me. I listened to the audio version and the narrator absolutely brings the story to life with her different voices for different characters. If you enjoyed the first in the series, you’ll like this one too—same humor, similar chaotic life storyline, and same quirky core characters. If you haven’t read the first one yet, do yourself a favor and get started!

Fresh, fun and hard to put down! I loved this new installment in the Finlay Donovan mystery series. In this book Finlay and her friend/sidekick Vero are trying to figure out who has put a hit on her ex-husband. The best part for me is how relatable a heroine Finlay is - she's a mom, struggling writer and trying to get back into the dating scene (cue attractive detective Nick). Throw in some Russian mob connections and this book has a little bit for everyone! Highly recommended and great on audio. Much thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan audio for my advance review copy!

4.5 stars. I think I liked this book better than the first. Although it followed a similar trajectory and felt a little like a filler story at times, I was more invested in finding out what was going on. Like the first book, the end leaves a very clear cliffhanger that will easily pave the way for another book. Poor Finlay- her life is non-stop chaos! It was a good, easy to listen to audiobook!

Vero and Finlay are back for another crazy adventure. Picking up right where the first book ended, this one did not disappoint! I think I actually liked this one more than the first. There's humor, mystery, and a interesting cast of characters. The narration in the audiobook is great as well! As somebody that's not a huge fan of audiobooks, this was one I listened to in one day while working!

In this second installment in Elle Cosimano's mystery series, we see Finlay Donovan tracking down who has put a hit out on her ex-husband, and keep another assassin from taking him out in the meantime. All your favorite pieces are back: Finlay struggling to meet deadlines on her book and taking some inspiration from real life when she has too, Finlay donning a wig and pretending to be someone she shouldn't, Finlay torn between the hot young law student and the hot cop, and, of course, lots of hijinks, dead bodies, and Vero! While it doesn't have quite the same punch as the first book (which will be impossible to beat, with its set-up), it is an excellent and entertaining read and promises some great places for the series to head in the future.

I started this book on audio, but quickly ended up switching to reading. I found the narrator a little flat, lacking Finlay's humor and spunk. She also sounded a little young (and perhaps not American?) for our titular main character. But not the worst, if you're an audio fan!

Thanks to Minotaur for my ARC and Dreamscape Media for my ALC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

5 stars - 9/10

I just love Elle Cosimano's combination of mystery and humor, and in her second Finlay Donovan book, she does it again. I read the first half and listened to the second half and both are great experiences when enjoying this read. I thought Finlay was a fun character to follow once again, and I enjoyed the mystery/twists at the end. It is definitely open for book number three which I am hoping for. If you are looking for a quick read series, please go check out these books!

Cosimano has mastered the perfect mix of humor and thrill - I haven't laughed this much since "Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires".

Pros: When I first read Finlay Donovan is Killing It, I was excited to find out there was going to be a follow up book because I had so much fun reading the first book. I love that Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead sets up a next book in the series—something to look forward to! My favorite thing about this series is that it’s a comedy of errors with a main character who the reader can cheer for even when she’s a bit of a mess and makes reckless decisions.

I read the ebook version of this book several months ago, but I also wanted to listen to the audio version because I prefer audiobooks to ebooks. This book is so much fun on audio, and I love that the same narrator who read the first book in the series reads this one too.

Cons: This isn’t a con, but I do suggest readers read this series in order rather than pick this up as a standalone.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this book.

I’ve shared this review on Goodreads and StoryGraph.

I just finished this last night and my God there were so many parts that sent me. I am waiting for the third book more than I waited for this one and that is saying a lot.

When Vero said this isn't Weekend at Bernies and I just died.

More to come
